Whoops!

Oh and viksam re highchairs - ours is an expensive wooden one which tbh was a waste of money. Hard to clean and starting to fall apart. Everyone on mn raves about the cheapo one from ikea. If I had to get one again I'd get that. Bear in mind it's not that long before they can use a booster and/or they're on little table and chairs too (as mlic said) so not worth spending a fortune on a bulky highchair.

hiya all,

Dp was being a stroppy sod but has made up for it today by having rileigh most of it while i got a lie in. He is now lazing about in shorts on the laptop but i cant complain.

Re- high chairs dp's cousin gave us a chicco one which reclines and is padded but i wasnt intending to buy one as i used ds's bouncer so was planning on doing the same with dd

wss i think the ranitadine is helping but not curing it completely, its horrible to see them in pain x

Oooh really mlic?! What was the conclusion? Will you try for another then? If so, when?

We went for a walk yesterday and that subject came up - to my surprise as I always thought I was def about only having 2. I don't think we will tho as altho I do have a bit of an emotional urge for a 3rd now, otherwise it doesn't make sense practically or physically (I'm too old and it would be a 3rd c-sec). Dh has always wanted 3 but after having A (and her being a girl) is happy enough with 2 or would want a gap before a 3rd (and then I really would be too old!)

stac14 · 14/11/2010 16:14

i'm sticking with 2 as also have a stepson and last pregnancy was hard due to gestational diabetes so was told i should wait a year. Everyone thinks i'll have another but unless its a happy accident then defo not lol.

Mlic Dd1 usually wakes between 5.30 and 6.30, before dd2 was born it was 7-7.30, I think we made a mistake telling her she could get up when it was light as it is light here at 5.45 at the moment (we're in New Zealand, so coming into summer). Having said that, she woke after 7 today which was great.

Vik I got a high chair free from my old work (I worked in a childcare centre and they were gettign rid of some when I was going on maternity leave), I agree they take up lots of space and I had dd1 in booster cushion as soon as she was big enough to sit up on it.

Tsc sympathies on the 3 year old, I have one too, it's a bit of an emotional age, if I'm putting it politely. The mood swings are amazing - she can be happy as anything then the next minute the world is coming to an end. Saturday afternoon I went out for 6 hours just with dd2, it was sooooo easy just having the baby, got to shop, go to library, read a book etc without all the tantrums. Got back and said "Hi dd1!" and got "NOOOOOOOOO! DON'T SAY THAT!", screams, cries etc. I give up.

In theory I would love a third dc but dh and I are both 40 next year and I think we're just too frickin old and tired (and skint) for a third.

memphis83 · 14/11/2010 19:15

hello all, wow just been trying to catch up, im soooo glad to be home, journey down to cornwall was fine til devon then it rained, nice day yesterday then today rained on journey back, my son is broken and think i need a refund, he screamed all the way back!! he has filled so many nappies and his cheeks were beetroot red! so i had to find a services to get calpol, he napped for a bit them screamed again his gums look so red, bless him, comes home to his daddy has a bedtime bath and drops off! so glad to see dh, he went to finally wet the babies head last night and lost his phone by chance i rang him on house phone, luckily he lost it in taxi and just got it back! my poor brother cried when we left and is now planning on moving back home! right Lyndons asleep, im going to go to bed with a cuppa and watch telly, after being in a hotel i need my memory foam mattress tonight!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 14/11/2010 19:27

Ive got a highchair my sister gave me, its quite nice, am looking forward to Dylan being able to sit in it rather than on me.

I took a preg test this morning, was negative- phew! I knew it was quite unlikely but wanted to be sure cos Im rubbish at remembering to take my pill.

Not alot else happening here, saw family today, cooked a roast, bought my dad a plant for his birthday.
He likes plants, I dont know anything about them so Im hoping its a good one but I could have bought him a weed for all I know.

Phew dh!

tsc so 3 is like a scene out of exorcist but you're looking forward to frankie being that age as there'll be no high chair or bouncer containing the demon worry about? Confused

i thought 2 was bad enough

Grin at speaking in tongues

mlic what's the sleep clock thing?

how're you feeling memphis?

Spirael · 14/11/2010 21:05

Evening all. :) Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Interesting to hear about the eye colours. :) DH is blue eyed and I'm hazel. M currently still has blue eyes and looks to be staying that way, which is surprising my side of the family as we're all hazel or brown and thought that was the dominant gene!

viksam, we're far away from all our family too, it's at least a two hour drive to get to the nearest, so no dinners over or easy babysitting here either! M never took to swaddling for some reason, she always wants to be free with plenty of room to wiggle!

We got a highchair for M on Saturday and used it last night so she could sit and eat dinner with us. :) It was this one, in fact. It seems to be pretty good so far, it has a tray that can be folded back, the whole thing can be stored away when not in use and it should hopefully be pretty simple to clean. We have a cushion to go inside it, but I'm going to do some DIY to change the harness (it has D-ring attachments for that purpose) as the current one isn't great and can't easily be removed for cleaning.

DH and I have had the 'When are we having another?' conversation a few times. We're hopefully emigrating in the next year or so however, so it will probably be after that. So it's likely we'll end up with a three year gap between DC1 and DC2, depending on how long TTC takes. Does anyone with 2+ DC have a three year gap? :) How do you find it?

I'm starting to feel very lucky with my DH from some of your stories. Shock He's an absolute star. He insists I go out of the house every Sunday afternoon for about 5-6 hours to see friends, while he looks after M. He does the bath time every evening and 90% of the time he's the one to do the settling if she stirs during the evening - as if I go she smells milk and wants feeding!

I can't imagine not sharing the tasks equally. Confused Though I tend to tell him to leave the household chores such as laundry and dishes at the moment, as I get them done during the day since I'm at home anyway. I guess it also helps that he's a morning person and I'm a night owl, so I've always done any late night settling while he sorts M out in the morning so I can lie in a bit longer. :)

Spirael · 14/11/2010 21:08

I type too slowly. Confused

You're not filling me with joy when considering a three year gap there, tsc. Wink I thought it'd be easier than a two year gap as M would be at least fractionally easier to try and explain things to, and not quite as prone to jealousy?

Ah I was hoping for a 3 year age gap, just so I dont have 2 in nappies.

Ive finally got Dylan to sleep using a dummy and not my boob!

Seeing as Im not preg Im obv stupidly tired as that must be why Im feeling sick in the mornings.
Come ON Dylan, I really want some decent sleep one day.

CakeandRoses · 14/11/2010 21:50

dh nice one on the dummy front Grin big step forward!

tsc that sounds really tough re clara. It's should only be for a bit longer tho - SURELY - Frankie can't go on feeding like this much longer.

Aurelia has started being Ms Scratchy Scratchy when bf too now - sooo annoying. I can usually get her to hold one of my hands instead tho and she just sort of squeezes it and flexes against it - will F do this or is he insistent about drawing blood?

CakeandRoses · 14/11/2010 22:20

If you want putting off the idea of having more children then this thread is great reading.

stac14 · 14/11/2010 22:45

tsc it must be so hard for you at the moment, did your eldest daughter find it easier when clara was born? Ds admitted he was quite jealous at first and that dp is moanier (although i suspect its his hormones) i was the same when my sis was born as we had the same gap but i am feircely protective of her x

Tsc I think with the 3 year olds it's the age more than the new baby or your tiredness. I met up with 2 friends with 3 yr olds yesterday and theirs are exactly the same - without the addition of new babies. The tiredness doesn't help though.

Dd1 isn't too bad all the time, she can be lovely, it's just the speed at which she can change from happy to oh-my-god-my-world-is-ending-I-am-going-to-scream-myself-silly.

Spirael where are you thinking of emigrating to?

Ive got a new baby group today, its for mums between 20 and 25 years old which will be good.

After that Im going to see my friend with their newborn baby, I cant wait!

stac14 · 15/11/2010 09:00

i am shattered rileigh was up 4 or 5 times, goodness knows why. Ds is off school as he had skits yesterday so didnt want to chance it. So doing nothing today to be honest. Whats everyone up to? The baby group sounds good dh x
