Quick post re blinds (and good twins like the beds ) - you know you can get winder things from safe tots (although I generally use your solution of winding them out of use). Penguin- e must also be unobservant as took to bed ok. That said the potty training seems years off as zero interest in toilet or potty and am worried as doubt nursery will let her go on in nappies that long.

PenguinNZ · 10/10/2010 20:55

Bed still good, but no daytime nap anymore, sob, sob. And no where near potty training here either, speaking of which there is an unpleasant smell in here and it's not me, so better go....

systemsaddict · 10/10/2010 22:47

Caitlin understands the principles of potty training very well; as evidenced by her yelling very excitedly today, "Daddy! Daddy! Liam has done a poo and a wee in the potty! You must come see! It's a big, big, big poo ... and it's PERfect!!" (playing her part in the family-wide project of polishing the whole poo-in-the-right-place skill that we are still working on with him). But absolutely no sign of her doing anything in the potty at all yet. You can tell she's the child of an academic, the theory's all there, it's the nuts and bolts practical element that's missing Grin

DebInAustria · 11/10/2010 06:04

Systems, her speech is fantastic though!!

SpiderWilliam · 11/10/2010 08:12

Just marking my place. Have a happy Monday everyone. Smile

Amberc · 11/10/2010 08:58

Yawn sitting in the hospital waiting for my second post glucose blood test. I'm fecking starving. They are getting me tea and toast ready for when it's finished. God bless private hospitals!

systemsaddict · 11/10/2010 10:05

Yes, she started talking early Deb and hasn't shut up since! Grin Did I tell the story a few weeks ago when she discovered her dad had finished the last trifle? She opened the fridge door, found it had gone, and said "Oh no, what did you have to do that for?" and then went and found him, stood in front of him and said "Daddy, confess!" She unnerves me slightly at times Smile

Amber I remember doing that and being absolutely starving! bet it's be the best tea and toast you've ever had!

Amberc · 11/10/2010 10:29

Yes it is - delicioso!

PiggyPenguin · 11/10/2010 11:08

System her speech does sound amazing. J is still at the 'where daddy go?' stage.

I am sitting on my new sofa. It is very comfy and means I can sit down in the playroom now while J takes out every toy and decorates the floor. I bought him the rockstar organ thing from elc today which has been reduced from 40 quid to 25 so thanks to (I think) Abdn for posting about her keyboard purchase earlier as it made me go and look. Ds1 has a similar elc keyboard and it lasted years.

Amber I will be thinking of you when I eat my toast later. Although mine will be with pate (sorry!)

PiggyPenguin · 12/10/2010 08:15

bloody hell I killed the thread.

DewinDoeth · 12/10/2010 09:37

Good and proper too, Sybil! Grin

Can't post seeing students now.

Amberc · 12/10/2010 10:08

Blimey - where is everyone??

I got my results back yesterday afternoon for the glucose test and hurrah it's negative. Apparently I must have 'leaking kidneys'. Hmmm. Also my thyroid is 'normal' for the first time too so I should be feeling healthy Hmm.

I am about to go on a mammoth online spree buying baby things. I'm going to be very scientific and do a spreadsheet with the costings and discounts I can get. I get 20% off Jojo Maman Bebe with my tamba membership and 10% off mothercare.

Got my sister's baby's christening at the weekend in Manchester. I am really looking forward to doing something different this weekend. I have treated myself to 1st class tix up there and a swanky hotel and a mum to be treatment the following day. Will miss Luke though.

How is everyone? Luke has gone into mad waking mode again. Last night was 12 and then 5.30 this morning. Night before it as 5am (with a bad drea about Reggie the cat eating Luke's froggies!). I never sleep now anyway so it hasn't really affected me any more than normal which is a weird blessing.

PiggyPenguin · 12/10/2010 10:39

A horrible, horrible thing happened this morning.

I always leave our car in neutral and with the wheels straight and have trained dh to do the same. Last time he drove it he parked it really badly outside the front of the house so I couldn't manoeuvre the pushchair around it properly. Rather than struggle after taking the kids to school I decided to leave J in the porch (open porch, just two columns which prop up a bit of the first floor) in his pushchair and move the car. I got in, turned the key and dh had left it in gear and on full lock so it lurched in reverse up the step to the porch and towards J. At which point having jammed my foot on the clutch I broke the key off in the fobholder wrenching the engine back off.

Now, I know it is all my fault for not checking it was in neutral before I turned on the engine but god, I almost crushed him.

I am still shaking and it was at 9 this morning. I am not sure I will ever trust myself in the car again.

Rolf · 12/10/2010 11:23

Sybil I'm not surprised you're shaking. Poor you.

DewinDoeth · 12/10/2010 11:33

That's sickening, Sybil. Thank God everything turned out ok.

systemsaddict · 12/10/2010 11:48

God Sybil you poor thing what an awful thing to happen. So glad all is OK. It's so easily done. We have all had our near misses, the main thing is he's OK. As for not trusting yourself in the car - you will probably be the safest car-starter in the world from now on!

SpiderWilliam · 12/10/2010 12:13

Hope you are feeling a bit more over the shock now Sybil. Systems is right though, so don't let it pray on your mind more than you can help.

Got my follow up appointment with the consultant re vbac vs elcs this afternoon. Bricking it that I will cry again. How embarrassing. Blush Grin I am having a pathetic (tired and hormonal) morning though, so not a great omen...

systemsaddict · 12/10/2010 12:31

Good luck Spider. I was talking to a pregnant friend yesterday who said she broke down in tears buying a car seat in Asda - I remember when pregnant with Caitlin weeping buckets at that advert where the hedgehogs clear up cereal on their spines - so weeping in the consultant's office sounds eminently reasonable in comparison! Hope it all goes OK - do you have strong feelings either way?

And hooray for Amber's negative results! Caitlin's doing the mad waking too, she normally sleeps through but last night was in our bed from 2, the night before we were up watching Justin again from 4 - I know, rod for own back territory but I didn't want her to wake up the whole house! Wonder if it's developmental?

Amberc · 12/10/2010 13:22

Oh Blimey Sybil - I would feel exactly the same and not get in the car for weeks. Thank God you were quick witted enough to stop. Hope J is OK but he probably didn't even realise.

DebInAustria · 12/10/2010 14:18

Oh Sybil, how are you feeling now?Like Systems said, you will be so careful now, and just try to think about the positive, he's OK and you're OK(ish) Don't spend your time thinking about the what ifs.

Spider, hope appointment goes well

Amber , good news about your results. Check out the top cashback site too before your spree.

Rolf · 12/10/2010 14:25

Hope the appointment has gone/goes well, Spider. I think consultant obstetricians see a lot of tears Smile.

Amberc · 12/10/2010 16:52

What's the top cashback site Deb?

DebInAustria · 12/10/2010 19:08

Amber top cashback , register, then go through the site when you're online shopping, remember to clear cookies beforehand so that it tracks your purchase.

SpiderWilliam · 12/10/2010 21:09

Evening all. An interesting appointment with the consultant this afternoon. I have so much to rant about I have started my own thread for it: Spider's Not Happy

Rolf and Neenz either of you ever been treated at the Liverpool Women's Hospital? That's where the consultant has recently come from. If the idiot had bothered to write his name in my notes rather than just sign it I would be able to tell you his name.

Rolf · 12/10/2010 21:57

He sounds awful, Spider. I'm a regular at LWH but have only had 1 consultant obstetrician so won't have met your guy. I thought hospitals didn't do inductions when you'd had a caesarian, because of the risk of rupture? And his epidural point is bonkers.
