Spider hooray, you're home
. I hope the ILs are being helpful and quiet! I hope W is ok with his ABs. Does he have a venflon for them? Oh, (tmi) I've had clots like that and they've been fine. Gross, though.
Deb there's no let-up in the tension and excitement of your move! Sounds promising about the neighbours. Have you decided what to do about schools? Are the boys going to start as soon as you move back?
SA that is wonderful about the neighbour. You must feel so much better about all of it. it's incredibly isolating, hearing other people worrying about their child's difficulty with grade 5 clarinet when you are worried that your child would probably use the clarinet as an offensive weapon.
Amber I worked with a total cow who was from Malta and I actually checked your fb friends to make sure she wasn't on it
. That's really irrational isn't it? Like thinking there's a gay directory and they all know each other.
OK, for the leakers...
The physio went through my history and "problems". This was madly frustrating as I've had several gynae appointments to endure to get the physio referral which is what I wanted in the first place. I've had to keep a record of all liquid in and out for 48 hours (twice). A pad test where you drink an improbably huge amount of water and then jump around the place, and the ghastly urodynamics investigations. All to be told "hmm, yes, you leak don't you?"
. "Would you like surgery?" me: "no thank you". And the physio had in front of her a blank piece of paper with none of that information on it. My answers to her questions aren't anything like as accurate as the records that are all held at the same hospital. So I was very grumpy and ready to start crying (my default in medical situations) when she broke the ice by showing me her poo chart.
Anyway, she did an internal examination and got me to do loads of squeezes and then she told me how I scored on them. They score you out of 5 for strength and endurance (I think), where 0 is jellyfish and 5 is ping pong balls I got 3s and 4s (proud!). The exercises are:
squeeze and hold for count of 3 (4 times)
quick squeeze and release (4 times).
As often as I can.
As it gets easier, increase gradually.. She's seeing me again after Christmas and we're going to try to get me good enough to get off the "should she have surgery" list. So I'm very pleased.
If I was doing all of this again, I would try to see a specialist physio privately before going for all the urodynamics testing.
(for Biscuits. Disclaimer: the physio was lovely and v helpful and if I hadn't gone the gynae route they wouldn't have found the problem that led to the biopsy - which was all clear but mightn't have been. So the NHS still rocks and I still appreciate how lucky we are to have it).
