Or most of them at least - there are some late September ones still to come!

Dixie Just check with your health visitor if 3 weeks late is ok. Ollys were a week late but 3 weeks is almost time for the 2nd lot. Receptionists aren't medically trained so aren't really qualified to make comments like that! We have to make our own appointments here!

beaditAli · 25/11/2010 09:27

Morning all...... can anyone recommend a travel cot? Jack is totally grown out of his moses so we need an alternative to cart him around houses this Christmas. We have Christmas days at four different house in 3 cities. All in the space of 3 days... same every year to keep the peace. Sad I am a TERRIBLE cook tho so there is a bonus! Smile
I'm looking on ebay at travel cots and found the ones that look like little tents...? They any good?

comixminx · 25/11/2010 11:14

Have no ideas on travel cots Ali but will be interested in the answers as we were considering one of those for later.

Aphra has just had her second lot of jabs and thankfully seemed much less distressed this time.

Twelve weeks today!

comix i'm leaning towards the Samsonite pop ups as they'd be great for our camping trips. Loads on ebay and look extremely portable. Will wait and see any replies on here.
Jack being super clingy at mo.... really not like him and I'm wondering if it's his little cold making him feel sorry for himself. I can't get up to reach the remote so am painfully sitting through Trasha Trisha Sad

beaditAli · 25/11/2010 11:21

Wow. woopeee hoooorah! It is snowing Is Jack too young for tandem sledging?

newmum001 · 25/11/2010 11:49

It's snowing here too beadit! I came very close to waking Grace up shoving her coat on and running out into the garden but thought better of it!

I never thought of investing in a travel cot, Grace is quickly growing out of her moses basket and her proper cot won't fit in our bedroom. Might have a look on ebay now!

I got myself in a bit of a state last night reading something in the sleep section. Someone was asking what bedtime routines people have for their 4 month olds and they all seemed very structured, feed, bath, playtime, bed all by about 8pm. Grace is 2 and a half months (ish) and she's nowhere near in a routine, we're lucky if she's in bed by 11pm. Now i know she's still very young but theres not much difference between 2 and a half months and 4 months is there.

Do any of you have any kind of routine or are you all still taking your babies lead like i am??? Should i be starting to get her in a routine now or carry on with what we're doing.

Also evening/night time seems to be her most awake time, she rarely sleeps between her evening feed and night time feed but she sleeps really well during the day and at night when she finally goes down.

I got myself a bit worked up as im still very new to the whole being a parent thing and just worried i'd really messed up by not having a routine!

beaditAli · 25/11/2010 12:26

newmum no snow now Sad
We tried following a few tips from the emotionless author Gina Ford but found very quickly that it would never work for us. Too structured, strict and mean to little ones imo. I think we were lucky with Jack though as he was into a pattern without us really trying too hard.
We bath him about every other day after he's sat at the table with us (in his bouncy chair) during dinner. Then he has cuddles, a feed around 9pm then he's in bed and asleep and wakes at around 1am and 5am for a feed. These times have varied slightly and he's occasionally skipped a night feed if he feeds nearer 10-10.30pm. He's generally still sleepy on and off until lunch time after which we have a fun, chatty afternoon. He then naps for an hour or so at 5-6pm and then it's dinner again. Grin

Don't work yourself up! It sounds as though you do have some kind of routine as Grace is sleeping well at night and I'm sure without even thinking about it, you're doing the same things at the same times most days. Like feeds, changes, your lunch and the general noise around the house.
Jack was also very fretful between 7-11pm ish until about a week ago when he began settling much faster. He's now 9 weeks 3 days
He's been asleep on me forever today tho so I think i've jinxed myself! Grin
As long as you're relatively sane and she's sleeping well and generally happy i wouldn't worry! You're doing great! Grin

beaditAli · 25/11/2010 12:50

oooooooooooo more snow! raaahaaaaaa Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 25/11/2010 14:00

We used to have a horrible receptionist and I feared ringing for an appointment! I have got much braver now that it's my children that are in need of treatment and there are new receptionists who are lovely Grin

We have no snow either, ds1 was looking forward to it but may still have some apparently. It's very cold today though!!!

Yay for your dp being home sassy34264 and hope things went well at doctors.

Dixiebell ds1's were very late, he had second ones at 16 weeks and it made no difference, as Debs75 says especially if you are at home with them.

Sounds a bit hectic beaditAli, expecially with a small baby! One of my mums uses a pop up travel cot so I will ask her Monday. Not sure the sledging is a good idea Hmm, perhaps after Christmas Wink

newmum001 there is a huge difference between 2 1/2 months and 4 months! My ds1 settled into a routine of going to bed around 8pm from 12weeks on with no help/pushing from me. Luke has been going to sleep between 6 and 7 for the last week, it's a bit early as he's then up at 12 or 1 but it means dh and I get the evening together. I don't want to force him to stay up when he's tired though and I tried to give him a dream feed a couple of nights but it was disasterous! It's so personal but there is nothing at all wrong with being led by your baby especially at such a young age.

Got Luke weighed today and he is 14lb, a full 2lbs less than ds1 at that age! The HV said he was following the 91st centile perfectly but I couldn't believe he was so much less than ds1 and only one line lower so checked when I got home and he's actually dropped down to 75th. I'm not worried as he's eating well, nappies are fine and he is alert and happy for several periods of the day but just wondered if anyone elses baby has dropped centiles having not experiences this before!!!

10w+3

Dixiebell · 25/11/2010 17:48

Hi all, thanks for the reassurance on vaccs, bit of a saga, as we had to change the appointment, Arlo's clicky hip scan appt finally came through and of course it was the same day as the vaccs, so had to request another date for them which meant they were put back yet another week. But now just got in to find an appointment card through for a vaccination clinic the week after next, not even at our doctors' surgery ?!! Not sure what's going on there but I obviously didn't need to worry. Better phone the dice and cancel the appointment that I've already rearranged once!

7 + 3

Dixiebell · 25/11/2010 17:50

Oh btw, anyone else have a minor breakdown when they couldn't get onto MN via iphone during night feed last night? I didn't know what to do with myself!

newmum001 · 25/11/2010 21:27

Well it's all quiet on here tonight. Does that mean we've all got very good babies who are allowing us to have a peaceful night for once or the opposit and we're all tearing our hair out and haven't got time to chat? Grace has been asleep all evening and as much as im enjoying watching the soaps and having a peacful night with DP im getting a bit worried about the night ahead! I think she's been a bit poorly today though, she's slept loads and been very grumpy when she's awake. Had to go for a walk with her in the pram before for 40 minutes to get her to sleep as she was in a very bad mood and nothing else was working.

On the bright side DP doesn't have to be in work until 10am tomorrow so i can have a lie in yay, these 5am get ups are really starting to get to me!

newmum001 · 25/11/2010 21:29

Oh and i meant to say thanks for all the replies on the routine issue, i suppose when i think about it she is in a kind of routine, just not a bed at 8pm one, roll on the 8pm bedtime though as i shall then go to bed at 8.05 Grin god how i took sleep for granted before i had her!!

cinnamongreyhound · 26/11/2010 12:40

It's Friday!!!

One of my children is off today with hand foot and mouth virus. Her mum tried to insist I had her saying that she's been contagious for several days so the other kids would have caught it if they were going to. I find it so hard to say no but I have my children and everyone elses to think about, luckily one of my other mums said she wouldn't bring her little boy if the other little girl came so I could say I wouldn't have her without feeling too guilty! I know it's hard to have to take time off because your children are ill, have had to do it myself so I do feel guilty :(

Had an arguement with dh the last two nights and went to bed on my own last night so I didn't have to argue anymore. Last night was over me going to tesco on my own when he had had the afternoon off and I had worked until 5.45. And the day before was an issue over him not sorting things out about dss over Christmas which I have been asking him to do for weeks.

Looking forward to having Luke's photos taken tomorrow. I got the shoot and one 10x8 framed photo free from Emma's Diary so I hope that they will manage to get some lovely ones.

Anyone else have plans for the weekend?

sassy34264 · 26/11/2010 12:47

seeing if this posts before i ramble on, as i have written 2 posts so far and they have not posted. ARGH

cinnamongreyhound · 26/11/2010 12:56

Highlight it and copy it before you post then if it's lost you can just paste it in again sassy34264!

beaditAli · 26/11/2010 12:56

Ditto the excitement for Friday! Cinnamon..... hope you bought a big stinking wet fish in Tesco for shhhlapping around your grumpy chap's chops!? Grin
Just been to Boots and bought their Racing Bear sleepsuits in 3-6 months. Seem to be the perfect fit on Jack just slightly wide. So anyone struggling with long legs..... I'd recommend them!
DH and his pals are offtheirheads walking for miles and miles then sleeping in a bothy in the middle of nowhere in Northumberland over the weekend so me and one of the other wags are going to stay with another wag in Newark Grin to see her two gorgeous little boys. Via my friend's ceramic studios and arty Christmas fair at The Harley Gallery in Worksop. Smile There's a garden centre there too who have a grotto every year. Too early for Jack to meet the big bearded man yet?
newmum sorry for not keeping you company last night. Still rattling through my tax return and churning out jewellery any chance I get. Sad
Happy weekending all! {smile] Smile

beaditAli · 26/11/2010 12:58

Aaaaawwwww... a little pout before my smile! Smile

sassy34264 · 26/11/2010 13:01

At last!

Here goes again.

The babies (both of them) slept for 7 hours last night. (does a little jig, with my new found energy) :o I feel almost human, apart from the fact i got my 1st period yesterday since babies where born. (WARNING TMI coming up, look away now if you want) Do you know when they say you don't lose any hair when you're pregnant and then after you had the baby, you lose all the hair that you should/would have lost? Well, i think i'm having all 9 periods at once. I'm using a tampon and a pad at the same time and they both need changing every hour/hour and half. I'm also very bloated around my stomach, although that could be something to do with the supermarkets who keep halving the price of their giant boxes of chocs! Hmm :o

Sorry to hear of your woes with dh cinnamon. Whilst at my lunch date yesterday, my friend summed it up very aptly when she said 'all men are useless and you have to remember that they are a different species' oops. Don't think her dp is on her good side then! i'd like to give them a bit of support though, by saying they are all useless, but there is a sliding scale and some are worse than others. Wink

Please post, please post.

beaditAli · 26/11/2010 13:23

Oh god sassy I'm so dreading my first period. Any slight pain down there and I start to panic though no signs yet 9 weeks on from csection.
POSTED!! Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 26/11/2010 13:33

To be fair he did apologise on both occasions (which he never ever does!) so he obviously realised he was in the wrong.

Mine were much heavier after I had ds1 than before sassy34264. I do have a fear that after another baby they will be heavier still but haven't had one yet. I'm having my coil fitted next week and they can apparently cause quite heavy bleeding anyway.

sassy34264 · 26/11/2010 14:00

I had a coil for 6 years cinnamon and mine never caused heavier periods, but everyone is different.

There is no pain beaditali but i feel fragile.

Forgot to say that the doctor has confirmed thrush again, but she has give me all different medication!? The babies have a mouth gel instead of medicine and i have a different cream and only one this time, instead of two. Fingers crossed it works soon cos the pain is coming, although it is only a 2/3 out of 10 so far.

Dixiebell · 26/11/2010 14:59

Sassy, poor you with the thrush, but amazing that both babies slept that long together! Do you think one would regularly but gets woken by the other? Arlo also slept for 7 1/2 hours last night, brilliant! Although as it was from 10.30 - 6.00 you still feel the early morning, but I'll take that for sure! He always sleeps much longer when he's been awake more during the day, visiting relatives or something. Males me want to keep him awake in day, but when DH at work that is more difficult. Also always seems so cruel to wake a sleeping baby!

Just made Christmas cake, mmm...

sassy34264 · 26/11/2010 15:22

No, they don't tend to wake one another up dixiebell and even if both are awake and one is screaming their head off the other won't start. They will just lay there listening. They don't really have that sort of awareness of each other or an affinity really.

I think in order to get the rountine i want, i need to change their day time habits. But i can't do that at the minute because i have to do two 20 mins there and 20 mins back school run trips in the car and they fall asleep both times, and like you i don't like waking them up. Plus tbh, i'm just grateful of the peace! I have my breakfast (usually) in peace in the morning when i get back and i can make dinner in the afternoon when i get back. :)

Sorry if that sounds a bit rambling but despite 7 hours straight sleep, i'm feeling more tired than ever! Confused

newmum001 · 26/11/2010 15:23

ARGH!!!!!!! Having such a rough day. Grace still isn't liking her moses basket and was up and down all night! I eventually went to bed at 12.30 leaving DP to settle her and he didn't get her to sleep till 3.30. I felt really bad but i got up at 5am yesterday and was exhausted by 12.30! She was doing so well sleeping until a coule of weeks ago, even doing 8 hours straight some nights! At the minute we're lucky if we get 5 hours and once she's up she's up, theres no settling her. I want to try her in her cot but it wont fit in our room and she's still too small to go in her own room. I feel like a zombie. Plus her reflux seems to be getting less silent and more projectile so will have to take her to the doctors on monday, so not only is she not sleeping at night but she's not sleeping in the day either casue she keeps gagging etc cue the over tired grunting and crying! Im slightly reluctent to buy a travel cot incase she doesn't like it. Anyone got any idea how i can make her moses basket more comfy???

Sassy i had my first period a couple of weeks ago and it was horrible! Also sorry for TMI but woke up one morning and it looked like someone had been murdered in our bed, DP was horrified lol!!!

Dixi how the hell have you had time to make a christmas cake?? I haven't even had time to make any lunch!!

Does anyone else watch the baby programs on sky home and health? Do all americans get an epidural as standard cause they never seem to break and sweat and make these cutsey noises as they push a monster baby out. I sounded like a wild animal and my hair was literally stuck to my head with sweat!! Might consider an epidural if i have anymore, it looks amazing!!!
