Gosh your very understanding. Jordi squeals a lot, & is cheeky. I tend to default to telling him off. I have noticed it's always when I'm doing something else (read looking at FB MN). So therefore have tried to pull back a bit lately. But I do yell at him a lot more than I did DS1 at this age.

I took DS2 swimming this morning, I try to go every week but it's easier here because every pool (& there are a lot of them) has a whole morning each week set aside for oldies and mums & babies. It's quite a nice session lots of bubs bobbing about in a lovely pool which is heated up to bath temperature, & the changing rooms are warm too. So no shivering. Unfortunately today we were only 25 mins into our swim when I remembered I left my keys in the rear wheel lock on the bike so had to rush out change and get to the bike. It was still there thank goodness.

And in other news , DS2 woke at 8.30 so I resettled him but as I was stepping off our bed I trip on a ukulele that DS2 hasd insisted bringing up to the bedroom.

Veggiemummy · 14/09/2010 20:50

Oops sorry accidentally posted...anyway I've sprained my ankle, quite badly I think. I went down with a bang which woke both boys (and probably half the street) & I said some bad words. I managed to resettle DS2 but of course he woke again and wouldn't settle with DH, so he has bought him downstairs because I can't go up the stairs. He's currently fast asleep on my lap so might just leave him here for a bit.

spotofcheerfulness · 14/09/2010 20:57

Ouch, veggie, sounds v painful. Shock. Can you do anything to treat it? Have you get industrial strength painkillers in the house?

Veggiemummy · 14/09/2010 21:30

Yeah it really hurts. Have had the ice on & it's elevated. I don't think I can do much more. Bloody ukulele!!!!

Hey I wander how the workers got on today.

traceface · 14/09/2010 21:42

hey all Smile
I'm still here and reading in snippets but just so tired and busy with life so not really getting to post as often as I'd like.
Will put in more effort soon!
Hope LadyTowers is coming along nicely Grin
Where is Jolly? and WG? Hope you're ok ladies :)
Oh and ZJ I'm so sorry I don't think I even responded when you offered to meet for coffee in York over the summer. It was such a lovely offer and I meant to reply but don't remember doing so! Thank you Smile Hope all is well with you and your chatterbox!
Veggie that sounds sore. poor you. Hope it's soon better.

Veggiemummy · 14/09/2010 21:55

Hi Trace, thanks hopefully.

Beans I meant to say I giggled about your transitions lenses. My nan had them and we used to laugh because when she went indoors it took about a minute before they readjusted to the indoor light. I on the other hand had those very cool clip on sunnies, very magnum PI Grin

Veggiemummy · 14/09/2010 21:58

Jam the hurrican is going to hit Bermuda in a few days, no talk of Florida.

LadyThompson · 14/09/2010 23:46

Hello! Just a quickie, haven't kept up today and I am now in bed feeling awash with the usual ailments (backache, sore bump, nausea, headache...) Still, only two weeks to go. I am saying that to YOU kind ladies and not to myself Grin Only two weeks more of my moaning.

Avo, I texted you earlier with the details, I hope you got it as I am fretting. It will be so lovely to see you tomorrow but if you don't fancy it any more, please don't feel under pressure. I am worried about you giving up a day off when you have been so hectic recently. However, the added attractions apart from me (I originally thought I would be all alone, honest) are: DP, plus the return of Rubes, Mr Rubes, baby Rubes and Rubes' DS (he wasn't present today) Grin They are very kindly coming back for more. Lunch will be provided again, as will a spot of something cheerful, sparkling and refined Wink

Mr Rubes in particular has been a dynamo today, his DIY super eye has been invaluable and in fact everyone worked really hard apart from me - DD was quite fractious today so it was hard to get stuff done. She is getting fed up of it all and who can blame her - I ask too much of her, I know I do. We went from the house out for dinner as I needed to see a friend who was over from Belgium, so the poor child hasn't even had an early night. Anyway, just wanted to report that the Rubes contingent all slaved away, apart from their DD who just looked very cute instead, and who could really ask for more from her?

I will catch up with you all properly on Thursday - GlamJam, if you are gone by then, wishing you a wonderful holiday...

Beans33 · 15/09/2010 08:02

Well done the Rubes's! Hpe you're feeling ok today, Lady.

Vaggie - just a quick one - I hope your ankle is better today - poor you. I was reminded by your post that I used to think Magnum was his first name and his surname was Pi - ie pronouced Pie. Ha!

EffiePerine · 15/09/2010 08:02

Veggie: your poor ankle. Damn uke-related injuries.

Hooray for the Lady work party! Sounds like a good time was had by all.

Better be off - tv repair man is coming this morning, we're in our jammies and the house is a tip...

Beans33 · 15/09/2010 08:09

PS DD2 slept from 10.30 til 7am! Hell yeah! She did squeak at 5.15, but I snuck in and plopped the dummy in her mouth and she went back off like a dream. Marvellous!

xx

DeidreBarlow · 15/09/2010 08:15

veggie oh no you poor thing, that sounds so painful. I hope its not too bad this morning

lady sounds like you are getting lots done! Good on Mr rubes (and all the other rube clan). I hope avo has fun painting the radiators today.

beans thats a whole lotta poo for one dayGrin Although your burgers sounded good no wonder she ate it all up.

Both DD and DS ate nothing at dinner last night. DD mainly because she was exhausted fromschool, and DS because he's a sod. So I refused to give them anything else. Both have now demolished breakfast in a matter of seconds and I now feel like I starved them both Blush. TBH I was in a very bad mood last night and after 30mins of them sat sreaming at the table I just couldn't be doing with them anymore...how awful does that sound

DB - you're not bad - I think it's fair enough. And sometimes I don't think it's a bad thing for the littles to see us stressed. Life isn't all sunshine after all! And it is SO annoying when you've made food for them and they reject it!

x

Veggiemummy · 15/09/2010 10:11

DB DS2 sits in a big chair now & kept standing on it and getting up from it & walking around. I kept warning him I would take away his dinner. Finally I gave up & took it away. He was devastated, and very hungry next morning, but ever since the mere mention of dinner removal had him sitting down at the table like an eating angel. I say starve away.

Lady I'm glad the day went well yesterday but your symptoms seem unbearable, what did the consultant say about your headaches? Also I meant to add ages ago, your DP must be having a laugh wanting 3 if you are ripping with this one. Could that have been what was causing Rubs pain? Bloody hell the things we do to provide these men with offspring.

I have a grapefruit for an ankle and I'm not happy bout it. It was horrid drizzly weather yesty & today it's beautiful!

Avocadoes · 15/09/2010 10:18

Hullo,

I am afraid that I'm not at LadyT's. As LadyT knows, I was really looking forward to it but was in a bit of a conundrum because DD1 has reacted v badly to her new school arrangements (she starts reception in Jan but 'til then is fulltime at the school's nursery and spends some of the morning and lunch with Reception). She has been saying she hates being a fulltimer and misses me and her nanny. She has become v emotional and for the last 2 nights has had her first ever nightmares. Anyway, when I heard that family Rubes were going to be with LadyT I thought I'd better stay in London so I can drop DD1 off and pick her up at 3pm. We are going to have a big girls afternoon just the two of us. I'm going to take her to her fav ice cream parlour and see if I can get her to talk to me abt school. In the mean time I KNOW that family Rubes will be 100% more help than I ever wld have been.

Sorry abt your dinner time woes DB. I think you were right not to offer an alternative meal. I think I'd have done exactly the same as you.

I meant to say hi to NJAN in my last post. Hi NJAN! So glad you are getting a bit of a social life back. Post when you can.

Oh and hi to Trace too. Did you find a solution to yr CBT/childcare dilemma? I hope so.

I'm feeling a bit edgy and sad today. Not sure why. It's probably worry over DD1 mixed with a bit of PMT & a dread of the imminent winter. We are off to Tuscany on Friday but it's due to rain there all weekend. My friend who is getting married there is slightly freaking out as it's an outdoor ceremony and reception...

Veggiemummy · 15/09/2010 10:31

Oh where in Tuscany is the wedding Avo, that's where we got married, are you just going for the weekend? I know a lovely big organic farm where you go to let the kids have a run around, will you have a car?

I really feel for you Avo, I get a little teary when I hear of little ones being sad about settling in. As you may know DS1 was very sad about starting school both in the UK & here. It has really hurt watching him cry as I leave him behind, for a time it was all consuming for me. I think the best thing is talking about it, even letting her know that you miss her too, but she's a big girl now and she needs to go to school to learn to read a book by herself (insert any thing you would think she would like to learn). Most importantly though let her know it's ok to feel sad & it's ok to miss you because you love each other so much.

SummerLightning · 15/09/2010 11:18

Hello all,
This is a quick one as DH gone out with DD so I can get some sleep and I was expressly told "no nerding around on your laptop"!

DH getting better, fortunately he has been expressly forbidden by his work to go back to work any time this week. Phew. So hopefully he will manage to recover. He is working but from his bed so I will let him do that!

Avo sorry to hear about DD not settling at school. I hope she feels happier soon.

Hurrah for Team Rubes and Team LadyT and all their good work! Any chance of some piccies of the newly done up house ?

LadyT if it's any consolation re the pregnancy symptoms, I feel soooo much better now I am not pregnant, even though I am not getting much sleep and have 2 to look after (plus a sick husband!). So hopefully everything will be good afterwards. I didn't realise but when late pregnant I dreaded looking after DS on the days he was not in nursery, which sounds awful. Now I look forward to it!

njan hello! Friday 1st oct would be good with me?? What do you think? Anyone else up for a cambridge meet?

db I have done similar at dinner time! Sometimes he has even woken in the night due to being hungry. I am not feeding him bloody cheesy or pesto pasta every night though so if he won't eat other things tough.

Oh and I found a dress for my weddings. I was at my tits end after 3 hrs of shopping I had not found one dress I wanted to try on and then just as I was leaving john lewis i found it. Going to poast a link but DH back, must go!

EffiePerine · 15/09/2010 12:19

The Perine household now has 24 hr access to CBeebies! Lovely tv aerial man.

Avo: poor DD1 and poor you. I'm sure it will mean she settles down quicker in Jan but that must seem ages away. What a nice mum you are to take her for ice cream.

Veggie: if your ankle is swollen you should really get it looked at. Do you have a drop-in centre? You medical types aren't the best at looking after yourselves .

Veggiemummy · 15/09/2010 12:33

Mmmmm...I want ice cream.

I'm sure it's just a sprain but my plan is if it's not made a reasonable improvement by Friday I'll try to get an appointment with my GP. I'm not giving it much chance as I keep getting bored and going into tidy the kitchen, sweep the floor (I currently have an unhealthy with keeping our floors clean). However, I'm pretty confident it's ok because apart from a continuous dull ache and a fair bit of pain when I move the ankle, I can weight bare and walk with only a little discomfort. And that's with not having taken any painkillers since last night. I'm going on the theory that if I can bare the pain it's better to know how bad it is today and the pain will remind me to be careful.

Veggiemummy · 15/09/2010 12:48

Hey Lightening, speaking of new houses how is your place? Also you must be very tired if your sock husband is letting you have a nap, either that or he is not the hypochondriac that my DH is.

Beans how was DD1 last night? After DS2 got off to a rocky start he slept ok, still waking at 5.22 (on the dot) but resettling after a little feed. He is not taking any chances today and as soon as he had finished his lunch he was standing at the bottom of the stairs pointing up to thr bedrooms saying 'muk muk' which is Jordi for 'take me to bed now damn you!'. Oh & something cute, last night when I got into bed DS2 opened his eyes smiled at me then rolled over onto his side away from me. I lean over to his ear and whispered "I love you babyveggie". Still with his eyes closed & facing away from me he whispered something back in babyveggie language. It was so sweet, it was like he was saying, "I love you too"

Avocadoes · 15/09/2010 14:25

Oh crap - who knows about chicken pox??? I just found out that a little grl that the DDs were playing with on Saturday, broke out in pox on Sunday. Neither of my girls have had the pox. So if they were exposed on Saturday when are they likely to show symptoms? And if they break out in pox before we fly on Friday, or before we fly home a week on Friday, are they going to be refused admission to the plane????

Veggiemummy · 15/09/2010 14:50

MN just had a seizure and dropped off my itouch, I had written a big post about you poxy DDs Avo but it fell off when the seizure occurred. I couldn't be bothered typing it all again Avo but I've sent you a FB message on the subject.

SummerLightning · 15/09/2010 15:06

Avo I thought it was usually 14 days incubation period for Chicken Pox, but I expect veggies message will be more informative!

Effie hurrah for renewed tv access.

Here is the dress that I got. I just wanted you guys advice what sort of shoes to wear with it...Ladyt recommended boots with a wrap style dress and this is a wrap style dress but I only have brown boots which will look daft, and black biker style ones which are too chunky. Don't mind getting some new shoes but not boots as they are too expensive. I was wondering about some nice ballet pumps as I'd quite like something comfy that I can wear normally - do you think I could get away with that if they were smart? And do you think I could get away with wearing tights (scotland wedding likely to be cold), if so what type? The dress looks really nice on (nicer than picture) and is a size 12 so hopefully it will still fit in a slightly different way when I am thinner.

Right going to do something useful now as both small ones are asleep.

veggie yes v nice of DH to take out little one. I think he fancied a walk anyway. He is much better but his chest still hurts a lot at night and he is coughing a lot.
Our new house is great, I LOVE it. Just got some cool new shelves up in the lounge which look great.

EffiePerine · 15/09/2010 17:09

Ooh I like the dress! I think black opaques would be good. Maybe red patent ballet shoes?
