Morning...

Rubes hooray for a better night's sleep! DS woke as usual but more of a whimper for about 1/2 hour then slept till 6, so much better. I hope spot had a good one!

Oh a nd love that articleSmile

Zoe I nearly snorted coffee all over the laptop at that comment Grin

Loved The Apprentice last night, the perfect mix of prats! I love Nick he's ace, and Karren was a good replacement for Margaret I think.

avo If you hear anything today be sure to let us know firstWink

I have a really sore eye today its really red and itchy but not sticky like conjunctivitisHmm. I'm supposed to be out tomorrow evening so unless it settles down I'm going to look a right sight!

Beans33 · 07/10/2010 09:30

Rubes - I did get your message - the one I go to is at Tooting Triangle at top of the common. But if you're going to one in Battersea, I'm sure I could make it along...

Sorry not to do catchups, am feeling a bit grumpy this morning due to DH having a go at me about putting the iron away while still hot this morning. SUCH a small thing, but really irritating as I do all the house work and ironing and he never says thanks, just moans at me about something that tiny. "Are you aware that you've put the iron away while it's still hot? You know I've got a thing about hot irons and it's next to the bleach". Is he aware that I do it all the time and I also iron his shirts, clean the house, cook all the meals, raise 2 children and look after them at weekends while he sods off doing his training and triathlons. So he can feck off. HA! Mind you, he does take DD1 to nursery, which is good.

She is tucking into prunes at the moment - may her poos all be runny...

Rubes - what an amazing night!

Wish I'd watched apprentice - DH hates it. grrr.

DB - hope your eye gets better.

xx

Rubena · 07/10/2010 09:42

Geez you put up with some BS Beans! I'd tell him right where he could stick that hot iron together with the bleach, and then watch the Apprentice whilst drinking beer Grin [hope he doesn't read this] Although I haven't forgotten he sent you to the spa when preggo. I'm gonna lay off whining at dh I think Blush he actually asked me if I'd mind if he did a long ride on Sunday! He hasn't been on the bike for 5 weeks Blush plus I pissed of shopping yesterday afternoon and came back ages later and he'd done dinner and baths Blush

I'm assuming you're not going to Syb's as I didn't hear from anyone, or it was just a low key thing you 2 planned that I rudely invited myself to.... Nah actually Sybs did ask me I think Hmm
Yeah the night was a treat, but not getting all smug or holding my breath. These sort of nights have been long and far between.
Hi Deids. Hope the eye gets better. I've had a similar thing - also no soreness just awfully red.

Beans33 · 07/10/2010 10:34

No, Sybs isn't very well, poor love. And I am feeling vaguely sick myself today. I do slag off DH on here and feel bad, because he's not a bad bloke. In fact, he's pretty marvellous most of the time. I just get grumpy.

We're off on a long old walk on Saturday for our 3 year anniversary on the South Downs - hurrah. Will be lovely. Our anniversary is next Weds. We were going to go out for dinner, but I think he's going to cook for me instead. Think I'll work on him taking me out, but it could be a bit pricey!

That article was interesting, Rubes - 2 of my friends have had c-sections recently, because they are absolutely terrified of the idea of having a baby naturally. They saw a counsellor who said they should definitely have a cs. I think that's absolutely fair enough, otherwise you can't enjoy the pregnancy if you're scared all the way through. One of them said if she has another baby, then she'd rather do it naturally as the CS pain was so bad afterwards! All v interesting! And another friend who had her 1st naturally opted for CS 2nd time because she'd had such a hellish time with the first!

Rubena · 07/10/2010 11:13

Yeah I know. I do the same at times. It's only human nature to write about the things that annoy you more than write about all the lovely things, therefore it makes them look worse!

Gosh I'm shattered today. Can't believe dd sleeps 9 hours, and I feel the worse I've felt in ages, all because I didn't take myself off to bed till after 1am Blush won't make that mistake again. I just have trouble getting to sleep a lot though Confused
Am trying to muster up the energy to walk to the shop and the swings. Might have to have a nap when ds does. But I bet anything dd will be awake then.

Sybs if you check in. Hope you feel better soon

Beans33 · 07/10/2010 13:03

Both littles asleep and iphone being delivered before 3. How exciting!

spotofcheerfulness · 07/10/2010 14:15

Ooh, am Envy of the iphone. I want one but just can't justify it. Well, it's that or not buy one of the houses we saw last night.

Both on the same road, both similar price (5 grand in it), the more expensive one needs more work though and is end of terrace. Unfortunately we've come up against a really unhelpful and defensive estate agent, who isn't endearing himself to me. We'd like to make an offer but need to be clear about what we really can go up to, and what it's really worth (given report out today about biggest fall in house prices since records began...). Will report back if anything exciting comes of it.

Rubes, hope you got a nap in, and get thee to bed at a decent time tonight (this from a total hypocrite, however tired I am I can't get to bed before 11 at the earliest). Last night slept much better, T woke but DP went to him, I didn't even realise he was crying, which shows how knackered I was. Midwives called me today and said I had low iron and had to take a supp, which may also explain my lethargy in the day. Just had a scary thought. Am I next???

Oh, and JJ, if you're reading, have you received the Hello Baby book yet? I got it today and have had a look and it is a lot more graphic than I thought!

Beans I think you're totally within your rights to have a grump about your DH saying that, sounds like something DP would say that would send me into a rage. Don't feel bad about sharing it on here, we know the negative isn't the whole picture..

Deids glad night was better, could the eye thing be sheer exhaustion? Or have you started putting heating on? I always get stingy eyes when heating comes on.

Beans33 · 07/10/2010 17:20

Spot - that's so sweet with stingy eyes. Just makes me want to hug you! Glad you got a decent sleep last night and well done DP comforting T. Hurrah!

Exciting about houses - wooo!

I am feeling totally exhausted myself at the moment and have no idea why as am getting pretty good sleeps in. Although DD1 now waking up in the night - I think she's having nightmares, because nothing else wrong. I just give her Sheepy back and stroke her. But she wakes up crying for me and it's v sad, poor little thing. But if she'd just sleep through, then they'd both be sleeping!!! Live in hope!

I think the house we're renting is haunted. 2nd week here a vase fell off the mantelpiece and shattered in the middle of the night. Next week a champagne bottle exploded late at night for no reason and DH was out! Bloody scary. DH now convinced that someone/thing moved his duvet last night and he woke up with all the hairs on his body (which is quite a lot!) sticking up on end. EEK! We shouldnt' have watched Paranormal Activity. Both of us now terrified at night and didn't used to be!

EEEEEEK!

urbanewarrior · 07/10/2010 17:28

Rubes DD has a strawberry nevus on her tummy - when the paediatrician first saw it (when she was about 12 old hours) she asked us what it was Hmm. It really has gone down over time though, and is much smaller and less pronounced than it was so I have every confidence it will go.

Eek all h breaking loose - back later

EffiePerine · 07/10/2010 17:31

Quick one from me, I am reading but not much to post! Spot and jj: not sure if I've recommended this before, but I like There's an Ouch in my Pouch by Jeanne Willis. A bit of a tongue twister but a good book about growing up and getting more independent. There is a dingo in it wiv big teef so prob best to scan through if your DC is easily spooked. I love her books, they're so well written and nicely illustrated.

DeidreBarlow · 07/10/2010 18:32

Good lord, just been for a run and now I can't walk. Didn't go any further than usual must just be tired. Spot Interesting about the heating, the eye is much better now but the heating was on last nightHmm

beans Get some research done on your house ('cos you've nowt better to be doing have youWink). It might have a really interesting history [nosy emotion]. Seriously if all that happened tome I would be really freaked out.

Oh and I'm all for slagging DH's off on MN - not like they'll ever read itWinkGrin. Actually mine hasn't done anything to warrant getting written about of late. Who knows maybe he has learnt a lesson!!

Oh and my Grandad is doing much better. It seems he had an infection and a raging temp which was making him a bit confused and very sleepy. Anyway, my Uncle says hes like a different man (well actually he called him a tough old buggar!).

OP posts:
JollyBear · 07/10/2010 20:01

Hello peeps,

Re tooth brusing, we either do the say 'eeeee', say 'ahhh' thing, or if there are two of us we tip her upside down so she does this Grin and then opens her mouth as thus Shock. A bit odd but it works!

That's weird beans, we stayed in a creepy holiday home once, a light came on by itself and it had a very strange feeling about the place.

arti Any house news?

I forgot the apprentice was on. We watched Volver last night. It was very good.

ladyT Did you get the new Ben Folds album? He writes the most beautiful love songs but gets divorced a lot Hmm. Have you seen him live? He takes this filthy Snoop Dog song(I think it is one of his, my knowledge of rap is v poor?!) and makes it sound just so soaring and wonderful.

Going to watch Nigella and then the apprentice on Sky+. I do love Nigella Blush.

Not feeling too awful today. I'm desperate for it to pass now.

EffiePerine · 08/10/2010 08:28

Morning all! DS1's birthday today, so he's at nursery while I get the housework done and sort out a birthday tea :). Unfortunately I also have a hot and snotty DS2 on the sofa feeling sorry for himself. Need to get moving...

waitinggirl · 08/10/2010 09:33

have a lovely birthday effieboy1!

you know that school in greenwich johnny depp visited? well, dh's godson was in that class, and sang to JD. he is also the boy who is only interested in princesses, wearing dresses and ballet and has just started contemporary dance classes at the laban institute. so perfect, perfect, perfect - a camp, slurring pirate for him to emulate!

Avocadoes · 08/10/2010 11:05

Wow WG. I am a little jealous of your DH's godson. I love JD. He's probably my biggest celeb crush. Is the little boy totally over excited.

Happy brirhday to EffieBoy1. What cake are you doing Effie?

Glad you felt a bit better yesterday Jolly. It sounds like you might be turning a corner. When did the sickness ease last time?

Spot, I am excited to hear about your house choices. Any news? Where are the houses? We have still not had a response to our offer. I think she's sitting on it so she can tell other potential buyers she has an offer on the table. I doubt we will get it.

Today is the first Friday I have had off since DD1 started fulltime. IRS v strange being home with only DD2 and knowing this will be a regular thing. I am having to rack my brains to remember how you amuse a toddler without an older sibling to do the job for you. We are having a nice day so far. At the park DD2 found a ladybird and fell in love with it. Then she dropped it & sadly stepped on it. It was totally flattened and DD2 kept saying "oh no, ladybud bumped head on my shoe.... Sad, dead". It was v funny. She took his little corpse round various strangers to tell them about the shoe bumping death.

How are you doing now LadyT. I was thinking just this morning about how lovely it is to have two now they are older but how hard it was at first.

And how's your mum doing Veg? All better yet?

Rubena · 08/10/2010 11:17

Disastrous trying to get out of the house this morning. Finally did then went to cash point and it was broken. Already 30 mins late for toddler group and not showing up a 2nd time with no cash - not even 2 quid on me! Decided to go back and get the dog and go to the park and playground. Play equipment was wet, and ds is a total nutter!! Climbing things he shouldn't be as he's too little. almost falling through places with 6 foot drop underneath and concrete. Hurling himself down massive slide. He was soaked too, then he slipped on the step and nearly fell through and got upset - I was a nervous wreck and had to leave!
Home now thank God. Back to the safe toddler group on Monday I think with cash this time.

Avo - hilarious ladybird story!
I can't wait till ds can entertain dd Grin
You never know about the house Avo - fingers crossed.

Beans hows the Iphone going? I toyed with the idea but don't think I'd like not having a keyboard and i heard battery life aint as good but I know they are improving them all the time, but sticking with Blackberry for now. The new BB looks good as it has both full qwerty keyboard and touch screen.

Happy birthday Effiebaby1

Right - time for coffee and ibuprofen. Nice

Veggiemummy · 08/10/2010 11:58

Pubes chill out love he'll be fine, DS2 refuses to believe that he can't climb any piece if play equipment and goes running across the horizontal ladder thing which is higher than me. His brother was the same and so I have experience that shows giving yourself a heart attack is as much damage as the play equipment will cause. Be vigilant & supervise but don't be worried about letting then loose on those things, its good for them.

I am so far behind but wanted to say Beans I 2nd Pubes suggestion of shoving that iron where the sun don't shine & wanted to hug you, for wanting to hug Spot. Shall we start a love in. Oh studies have shown that having two small children is exhausting Grin

Lady I was thinking this may sound bit hippy, sandal wearing but if DP doesn't want to pander to DD1 he could at least acknowledge her feelings. I know it always feels nice when people acknowledge my feelings good or bad, like "gosh you must be feeling white stressed/sad/frustrated." So its helpful to the LOs too. Maybe just giving her a hug and saying " are you a bit cranky that mummy as to spend so much time with D".

Mum is on the mend but my stepfather is unwell now. In true male style he's terrible terribly ill. Mums a bit miffed as he's acting like he's so ill and its all that she had last week. I guess men are just like that. Anyway its been nice for the boys having them around but I feel a bit like I'm.looking after and cleaning up for everybody. Will almost be more restful when there gone. Obviously was looking forward to spending time with them but also wanted to be able experience what life is like when patents live closer, like being able to pop out when I want. Oh well can't whine my life isn't that bad.

We're also having a little stress with DHs work but will rant about that later. We are going to.look at houses this afternoon I don't think any are what we want but just getting a feel for places. There is a big open house, day tomorrow so will go for a sticky at some then too.

Spot sorry about your agent. We have found a brilliant guy now who is really helpful. Over here you can go with one agent and they can show you any.house regardless of the agent selling it.

Rubena · 08/10/2010 12:05

Vag, yeah I wouldn't have been worried except it was soaking wet and when he slipped and fell I think he lost his nerve (as did I) and for the first time didn't want to get back up it, and if the bar didn't stop him (and knacker him) he would have and could have hit the concrete quite hard from a fair height. It was like a tightrope where you have to hang on over your head and walk along a thin plank (which was wet)

I just washed the dog. I'm exhausted, and shouldn't have as probably more shoulder damage.... Confused

Beans33 · 08/10/2010 12:12

Gosh, I'm v slow on this machine as yet! Will log onto home computer and post properly soon! But Avo, love that ladybird story!

Veggiemummy · 08/10/2010 12:14

Pubes I'm sure you've prob said this already but when is your shoulder appointment?
