How are you this am my lovely Lady T? I hope you are at least comfortable. Poor you. Must be miserable. I raised several glasses to you, Lord T, O and D last night and as a result feel rather peaky.

JJ - so sorry you have the stress of the slapped cheek thing. I dreamt last night you are having a boy. So definitely a girl for you then as I always seem to be wrong.

Am trying to grout my face, dress 3 kids and sort book bags in readiness for school run. And with a hangover. Back on later. Happy to report things better with L at school so a HUGE load of my mind.

Avocadoes · 30/09/2010 08:02

Morning all

JJ- good lich at the doctors. What a worry for you. I'm so glad you have a doc for a husband at a time like this. It's always good to have an expert fight yr corner.

How are you feeling this morning Lady? Did the MWs look after DD2 last night or did you have her with you while in this pain? My epidural never really took in my first labour. I had top ups every 15 mins but still felt almost everything incl the forceps, episiotomy and tearing. The aneasthetist came to the ward the next day to apologise. After that they identified my "strange shaped epidural gap". They sited my epi for DD2 elsewhere & all was well. Please tell me you were properly numb for the op itself. You didn't feel that did you???

Bleugh, another long Belfast day. I'm giving a big presentation today & am strangely nervous. I used to love presenting but since having the kids I've lost my public speaking mojo.

Veggiemummy · 30/09/2010 09:42

Avo yes Belfast is dire, all of it. The center bit is ok at a push & DH & I had a lovely run along a canal river thing but otherwise yuk. The last visit we stayed at the Calloden estate for a wedding, we didnt leave the place for the entire time. It had a little pub onsite which had vaguely decent food, & they did an awesome breakfast in the main restaurant. Their spa is tres nice too if you have break in proceedings with nothing to do. It's about 15 mins taxi ride from the town center.

Lady this pain does not sound right even without pain relief. Please don't play it down to the nurses & anesthetist. Believe those nurses would have encountered some prima donnas in their time, you don't go anywhere near what they would have experienced. Try to explain to them exactly how the pain feels and can you compare it to last time. Have you ever had a painful injury, can you compare it to that.

Veggiemummy · 30/09/2010 09:56

Sorry I have to split my posts because this phone starts slowing down if I type long posts. Don't type long posts, I hear you cry, yes well that would help I guess.

Trace, congratulations on becoming an Aunt, I think the only thing I love more than being a mum is being an Aunt to my 4 beautiful nieces. I haven't met my nephew yet, but I still love spoiling him rotten.

JJ put your foot down and be annoying, this is more important than doctors egos.

Well I'm feeling very artistic, I'm sitting in a European cafe with my violin next to me on my couch chair. Unfortunately this particular European cafe is a little mixed up with their coffee styles. I asked for cafe latte with an extra shot and the waitress said "oh that's a macchiatto" Hmm no its not but oh well its strong and a little bit brown (how I like my men). Mum is watching DS2 so I'm going to savour this time & maybe do some shopping. I had to come into the center early to.pick. up my violin. Mum & I have only managed one little disagreement so far. We do get on quite well, but some of that stems from me being over here I think. Also I have mellowed a little towards her since having the boys. She has a difficult life with dad dying, & my brother have bi-polar disorder. So while she's a bit annoying and picky, at times I try to cut her some slack.

EffiePerine · 30/09/2010 10:23

Hi Veggie I was hoping your mum would step in with babysitting. I get on better with mine at a distance too.

Avo: I've only been to NI once at that was a while ago. Isn't Turniphead from Belfast originally? Don't worry we won't dob you in Grin

Am hoping LadyT has either been zonked out or has her DP visiting too coo over baby D.

Veggiemummy · 30/09/2010 11:19

Hi Effie. Sorry about my grammar in those posts am still coming to grips with this phone. As well as pre-emptive text it also seems to add full stops & remove commas and articles.

EffiePerine · 30/09/2010 12:33

Mine has started adding an apostrophe after 'me'. Looks like I'm typing in Klingon.

Veggiemummy · 30/09/2010 12:47

I know, my itouch adds an apostrophe before 'why' & 'the'.

poisondwarf · 30/09/2010 13:26

Ladies, when will you stop hiding behind your fancy phones and start taking responsibility for your atrocious spelling and grammar? Grin

LadyT sorry you're still in pain. I hope you're still managing to enjoy your time with Dahlia. How is DD1(!) feeling now? Is she coming to visit?

Effie all systems go on the house front. Mortgage has been approved. No chains either side so should be straightforward. Hoping to move on December 17th if poss - just in time for school applications closing date [shamelessly pushy mum].

trace congratulations on the birth of your niece.

jj sorry the GPs weren't able to clear up the uncertainty for you. I hope it turns out okay & doesn't cause you too much anxiety in the meantime.

Avo I've only been to NI once (but just skirted around Belfast) and what I saw I found very grim .

sybil glad to hear things have improved on the school front.

Right gotta go. Very boringly I have to buy new pillows. Again. Honestly I used to be able to sleep anywhere & on anything but since DCs I've become a total Princess & the Pea with pillows. Shocking.

MomOrMum · 30/09/2010 14:38

Congrats LadyT and welcome to the beautiful Dahlia! So sorry to hear you are in such pain. My memories of my post c-section are of horrendous pain, and I was definitely on morphine for the first couple of days. You have to be honest with them about what you're feeling and not try to grin and bear it.

Kiwi I am so sorry to hear your news. Take very gentle care of yourself. It was just the end of May that I was in that exact position and it was very upsetting. Did the doctor suggest a scan so that they can see what is happening? I went to the early pregnant unit (walk in, self referral) and had a scan, and then a follow up scan to make sure that all had passed naturally. The pain was just like very uncomfortable period pains for me, but I know it can really vary and be unbearable for some people. Everyone is different, but I found that I had an overwhelming urge to be pregnant again right away and, sure enough, I was pregnant just two weeks after my m/c started. But I can also understand people who feel the exact opposite and want to take lots of time to process what has happened.

Sorry not to do more personals but am at work and need to get back to it. Love to all!

LadyThompson · 30/09/2010 20:14

Sorry for radio silence! After hideous night, have spent day drugged up to the eyeballs. But loads better. Avo, your experience sounds hugely upsetting Sad and I was fully anaesthetised for op as had spinal as well as epi. Thank heavens! Can't manage a bigger post tonight but v much love to all. My little autumn flower has the softest, darkest hair you can imagine. It's like the down on a baby bird...

JumpJockey · 30/09/2010 21:13

Awww LadyT that made me well up [sob] how gorgeous. Am so glad you're feeling better, hurrah for drugs. Big love to you and the whole family :)

going back a bit...

Spot - T's cot collapsed?! Is he OK? What on earth happened?! Was he doing some jumping up and down or summat?

ZJ - pillows, no dd doesn't have one yet. She's still just in grobag on flat surface, spends the whole night shimmying round like a flatfish to different ends of the bed so I'd be too worried about suffocation Blush but yes, they're fine from a year upwards. BLess her for improvising with a teddy! Babysitting - if we could only find a babysitter... Hmm am part of a babysitting circle but haven't managed to actually do any sitting for anyone yet, it seems that most people have established 'swaps' rather than advertising to the general circle - which is fair enough, not everyone knows each other so if I found someone to swap with it would be the best option.

rubes - nursery fees, dd's is £650 a month for 4 days a week, so I guess about £35 a day which is a total bargain, it's subsidised by my employers which is great but means that she's only got a place for as long as I work for them. Am not planning to leave though so that's ok! Definitely worth getting a bit of a break if you can, and the socialising side of it is brilliant for the kids if (like me) you're crap at getting out to playgroups.

kiwi - sending more strength and hugs.

avo good news about the work change of hours, sounds pretty intense but you must be used to that sort of atmosphere anyway given your employers Wink

PD hooray for the new house, that's gorgeous and I may have to move back to Colch, that money would get you a one bed flat where we are at the mo Hmm That's a lovely part of town, really close to the centre etc. I used to spend many a happy hour in the abbey gardens drinking cider with my dodgy boyfriend enjoying the historic scenery.

veggie - hang on a second, 3 minutes?!! V jealous, it's been months since dh and I have had a mutually satisfactory encounter let alone a swift and efficient one!

sybil 'grouting' your face Grin that's brilliant! Have the 20 week scan tomorrow so can tell you if your dream was right or not :)

right, quick bore about blood tests. The IGG apparently takes about 3 months to reach full potency once you've been exposed, but shows up within 4 weeks or so hence the wait. But since we've already done that one and know I've not got any antibodies, DH reckons doing the IGM, which shows up the bugs in the blood (rather than antibodies) within 7-10 days of exposure, would find out much quicker in case we do need to do anything. And it's definitely at least 10 days since dd would have been infectious, hence may as well get on with it!

JollyBear · 30/09/2010 21:45

Huge congratulations to ladyT! Grin. What a beautiful name. I remember a while ago you said you likeed Woosterian names! Hope the pain eases soon, it sounds grim.

Sorry not to do more personals but the laptop is about to run out of power. Love to all. Byeeeeeeeeeee.

Rubena · 30/09/2010 22:15

Glad to hear the pain has been numbed Lady! Was just thinking though, I only had a single shot spinal, but when it wore off they gave me Codeine and Ibuprofen plus one of those things up the bum (sorry for the tmi) but did you have that? Maybe that's what helps the pain the most as I didn't have an epi to even be topped up? D sounds beautiful, how long is her hair? Are you going to put a pic on FB Grin
When do you think you will be going home?

Sybs you make me laugh with the grout! Hardly!
I realised when I got your text that I had pretty much crashed your meet up plans with Beans and took over a little, and didn't know at the time you couldn't leave S London etc so we're ditching the plan at mine. I don't mind coming to you or Beans but don't want to overcrowd either since you already had plans in place (you and Beans) Spot are you there? I've sent you a FB message.
I may have my shoulder consultation on that day now anyway - not sure but will find out tomorrow hopefully.

Thanks all for the nursery fee's input etc. I emailed 3 but only one has replied saying that 2 mornings per week (0830-1pm including lunch) would be just over 300 per month, and they have space, however it's the farthest away so I will wait and see what the others say. I'm not convinced I want to send him actually as I have 2 toddler groups a week I can go to that I found locally and can walk there so will see how they go.

Hi MoM

JJ glad you're getting some progress with the docs etc.

Veggiemummy · 30/09/2010 22:26

JJ we are definitely more efficient. We used to achieve similar results within one episode of Thomas the tank engine which lasts 15mins. Oh for the heady days of youth when we were at it all night. Who could be bothered with all that these days.

Gosh this CS pain is just not fair, why don't men have to go through all this. Lady both the boys had the same lovely soft hair and I used to love playing with it and stroking it endlessly. I had actually forgotten about it until you mention it. Maybe we should write down these little simple pleasures that we enjoy while they are teeny tiny.

Veggiemummy · 30/09/2010 22:33

Hooray for the house PD.

Have just gotten home from a night out with the girls. We went to an all you can eat Japanese place. It was really nice. Such a lovely bunch of girls too. DH did really well put both boys to sleep albeit a little later than usual as they were being a bit cheeky in mummies absence.

DS2 has become quite clingy recently. I think its a combination of my mum being here and my attention.being taken from him, no BM overnight & teeth. I have to say though, I am loving it. He is really cuddly, and calls out for me in this sweet way. I am just really loving him at the moment. And with his new haircut, which really shows his face & brings out his beautiful eyes, oh I just melt.

Rubena · 30/09/2010 23:45

I must say - that cs pain is not normal or what I (or a couple of friends) have experienced. But MoM had some pain didn't she? Really feel for you Lady - but i'm still confused as to why you would still be in so much pain this long after op as epi would normally be removed already. Mine was out after 4 hours first time (before they sent me to the ward) and didn't have it the second. I reckon it's that Bum tablet thing Blush Summer how did you get on? Did you have the bum tablet?
Right I'm off... Hope you are feeling much better in the morning and get some rest.
All you can eat Japanese -YUM Veggie.

Rubena · 30/09/2010 23:53

suppository - I meant to say.... Blush did you have that Lady? Right I shall bugger off now.

SummerLightning · 01/10/2010 01:49

Pmsl at bum tablet! Yes I did have that both times. I just had a spinal as far as I know, which wore off after about 4-6 hrs I think? Well that's when I could feel my legs anyway. I agree that I wouldn't expect the pain to be agoniing this long after op but maybe different for different people? Apart from bum tablet I had paracetemol, codeine and dicloflenac(?sp). Well I hope all is ok lady anyway. I think mom did have a lot of pain but I think she had some complications due to emergency?

Jj did the docs say they would give you the right test then?

LadyThompson · 01/10/2010 01:50

Rubes, I will answer your question as I have just woken up again Grin yes, I did have a bum tablet but only in theatre. I know the pain isn't normal and I am a freaky deaky. I do have a fair amount of scar tissue on my bladder apparently, am going to ask if that is partly it. I would feel like a superwimp or fantasist were it not for the fact that I know I was the opposite when I was pregnant and in pain and more importantly my blood pressure changes when I am in pain. It is not normal still to have the epi in at this stage (they were going to remove it but it has been adjusted again so works better), and it isn't normal to have the amount of zonking painkillers I have had (eg a stack of Tramadol etc) and still be wide awake. The anaesthetist finds me very interesting and has made my pain relief a personal challenge as he says it dents his ego if he can't get on top of people's pain relief and I am a rare case Grin He is a rather swoonsome Dane so it's quite nice to have him hanging around although amusingly DP doesn't feel the same way as he thinks he is too fond of making remarks such as "your job is to lie there and look beautiful and mine is to eradicate your pain". Ho ho. DP has been so brilliant, though. However, in response to DB a while back, there's no way he'd ever have the snip.
I still think this will be my last time, but no regrets on either CS or my lovely DD, I am glad to say, and really enjoying her.

DD2 has more hair than DD1 did and she was born with quite a lot. It's fuzzy and over a centimetre long, but less than your DS2 probably had, Veg. Both your boys are beautiful, you are right. I hope you can enjoy the rest of your Mum's stay. I do think when close rellies have come miles it puts so much more pressure on both parties for it to be perfect.

JJ, as I have said before I am so glad you have your DH behind you, a) to be so informed and b) to press for the right things. Luck and love for yor scan, which I think is tomorrow.

I hope our KP is resting well. MoM, it is lovely to see you back. Sybs, I am super pleased things have improved for L at school - huz
zah. Avo, sorry about Belfast. When are you home, darling?

Congrats to Trace's SIL! Was it the 29th like my little mite? PD, that is smashing news about the house. What's it like? Beans, I meant to say your journey back from that wedding sounded dreadful! ZJ, we don't use a pillow for DD1 but maybe we should and it's time? If she is in the travel cot at the house I have noticed she uses a teddy as a pillow so maybe I should get her one for bed. She is well over her bug now. I have missed her loads. Apparently she sang "ee I ee I oh' after each tine she threw up which made me laugh so hard it hurt my stitches.

Loads more I wanted to say to loads more of you (such as Spot, how are tings now?) but I have abruptly run out of steam and need to rest now. night night

DeidreBarlow · 01/10/2010 07:14

lady Lovely I hope the pain is easing a little and you are managing some sleep. DD2 sounds adorable, can't wait to see a pic. I had the bum tablet too rubes, a 3 other pills(one of which was paracetemol).

trace Forgot to say congrats 'Auntie Trace'

veggie DS2 sounds so sweet, I have tosay though DS has become very clingy of late..

Need coffee more in a bit...

Rubena · 01/10/2010 07:59

Lady - glad to hear you sounding more chipper! Yes you sound like a real case study - thumbs ujp for your pain relief guy Grin that's funny (though not for dp!) I think I heard scar tissue can cause more pain or something, and def more pain after emerg cs like SL and MoM. But sounds like something else going on too. Shame, as it's really quite nice when it goes to plan. So good that you have lovely thoughts towards dd2 - I remember last time it wasn't the case at first? Have you told dp you don't want a third? Grin Sounds like you are a real interesting case, however I'm sure you'd rather not be!!

SL I think I had the exact same pain meds as you Grin as I could start feeling my legs after 4-5 hours then wanted to do a runner. They gave me the bum tablet while still in theatre (at the end) Grin

ds new favourite food is porridge! He just wants to copy dh! He only has water out of a sports bottle now Hmm

spotofcheerfulness · 01/10/2010 09:03

I want a bum tablet now!
Lady I am sorry to hear you are still awake and in pain, and despite being a fascinating case for a hottie Dane, I'm sure you'd rather be overlooked and asleep! When are you being allowed back home?

Glad you had a good night out, Veg, sounds great! And fair play for getting it on while Thomas the Tank Engine is playing. Grin. Am like JJ in that it's been a goodly time since there's been any action round these parts, think DP has given up any hope!

The cot is ok now, it was always a bit rickety and the bottom just feel out the other night. But basically, for the last 3 nights he's slept though again, without any change in what we've done! Basically he was just feeling crap and ill/teethy, but when everything else is ok he just wants to sleep. Hooray! (Also glad in a wimpy way that I didn't have to play hardball).

Cambridge ladies, can I ask some advice? It's DP's b'day soon and I said I'd take him out for a night. We're depositing T at my mum's in Ely and so as not to be too far away we thought we'd spend the night in Cambridge (DP was also at uni there so he knows it quite well). I'd like to organise it though, so do you have any suggestions for nice places to stay and places to eat? A bit special but not ££££ as I don't have that much cash! Would rather spend more on the place to stay than the food, i think...

Rubes, no worries about next week, will FB you for some alternative times to come and visit.

LadyThompson · 01/10/2010 09:21

Yes, I feel like a bit of a circus attraction - the Lady that Pain Relief Can't Reach. I have never had a sleeping pill in my life but the staff have been speculating on how many I would need to take to take me down Grin As to more children, I have told DP that I'm not doing this again. I think he's not sure I am serious but I know he wouldn't force the issue. He bought me a beautiful necklace yesterday with three rings on it - one for him and each of our children Smile

And no bonding probs this time. I feel a tiny bit bad for DD1 on this score but it was only the first few days and she has been smothered with love ever since.

Epi is finally coming out later and don't think I will be let out until tomorrow at the earliest. Which is fine as it is supremely peaceful. I will bore you all with my birth story when I am home (nothing gruesome I promise).

DeidreBarlow · 01/10/2010 09:27

I propose a group outing to visit ladyt & check out the hot daneWink and discuss bum tablets Grin.
