Morning all from Paris. JJ Hope DD is better again today. Veggie we are now uttering a daily prayer that DC2 will be as tolerant and easy-going as DD is, well, intolerant and grumpy. That sounds mean - when she's on good form she's utterly charming and wonderful, it's just she is SO high maintenance I can't imagine how she would let me so much as LOOK at poor baby number 2! Given she's still feeding too, I pity the poor little thing. I think I shall have to wean her well before the baby comes, if she doesn't do it herself...

Anyway am away again this weeknd leaving poor DH with the hyper beast, I hope she slept a little more last night as the poor man was absolutely shattered yesterday.

KiwiPanda · 26/09/2010 07:25

ps some clackered questions... Those who got morning sickness, when does it kick in? I - very luckily - never had it at all with DD and wondering when I'll vaguely know if I might get it this time around (all being well)

Secondly, I've totally forgotten - when do you go and see the doctor or rather pregnancy nurse in my GP clinic?? Is it sooner or do you wait a bit...?

KiwiPanda · 26/09/2010 07:26

Third and last post - I am quite apalled when I consider how many drinks I have had before realising I was clackered. Hmmm.. it seemed SO unlikely.

LadyThompson · 26/09/2010 07:32

'Nother quick post to Kiwi as am about to leg off to Dorset to pick up a buggy DP has bought - don't forget that your DD1 will be a whole 8 months older when DC2 arrives. At this age, that will make a WORLD of difference when it comes to reasoning with 'em etc. I didn't have morning sickness with DD1, this time, I was never actually sick but did have periods of simple nausea around the 3 month mark. I think it's really variable though. This pregnancy I would describe as SIMILAR but certainly not identical (some things I got last time but haven't this, and vice versa). Enjoy Paris!

And oh crumbs, my bladder suddenly feels like it is between my knees and bump noticeably lower...

Rubena · 26/09/2010 09:41

Hello,
Had a lovely day thanks Lady. Started off a bit wrong though when I forgot my purse and had to go back after I'd already driven to the train station and parked so had to return home for it! Then decided not to drive in heels so had them in my bag but hadn't worn them since being pregnant and when I popped them on getting out of the car I was in agony - seemed too small? Could my feet still be swollen? Got bigger? Anyway, spent 2 hours limping along Oxford Street looking for new comfortable shoes to buy and didn't get around to doing anything else Confusedthen it was time to meet DH. Had the most fantastic meal at Gaucho Grill. The steak was superb, (we had the sampler so got to try every cut!) and hadn't one as good since Moreton's in the US [Yum]
Had lovely wine as well. Had a pretty early night as both exhausted, and dh had to work this morning, but it was so nice to be out without kiddies! Ho hum, another year older and feet feeling about 20 years older!

WG welcome back - think I felt her move around 18 weeks too - can't remember but it was earlier than ds. Glad you had a nice mini break!

Kiwi MS kicked in with me both times around 6 weeks I think? Don't worry about the cheerfulness - everyone does it and so many people don't know they are clackered so early. Baby will be fine I'm sure. Isn't the baby not feeding off the placenta yet anyway or something?
Not sure about docs - I went when I first knew and they had me come back at 10 weeks or something to book in.

Lady - Dorset for a buggy! That's a long way. Did you get a bargain? Which one did you get in the end? Hope you are resting, not long now - so exciting!

LadyThompson · 26/09/2010 13:14

Nah, I think your feet can take 3 months or more to go back. Yes, the iCandy Pear is an Ebay purchase. I wasn't too bothered about sorting a new buggy and thought I'd play it by ear for a while but DP was keen and strangely insistent - I think because it's a 'vehicle' and such things catch his imagination Hmm. He was like this with the Bugaboo last time. Anyway, all good, not that cheap but very new - some bits unused. But I get to come to Bournemouth and we are going over to the beach in a bit and it just feels lovely to have a little trip. We were at the house until 9 last night. I am really pleased the Gaucho Grill was good but sorry about the feet!

Avocadoes · 26/09/2010 13:32

Hello All,

We are just back from a GORGEOUS week it Italy. My friend's wedding was beautiful, the girls were great bridesmaids, the company was fantastic... We basically sat around and chatted and got cheerful for seven days and nights while a chef produced gorgeous food every two hours (seriously) and the kids played happily. Everyone amused each other's kids and it was really just perfect. How life should be lived I think. And loads of kid-free people were there too so we even talked about non-child related things Shock. It was great and I am really quite seriously depressed to be home.

Kiwi - Congratulations!!!! I am really pleased for you although I am sorry that you are feeling apprehensive. It is very unlikely you will have another child like DD1, because they are all different and because your DD1 sounds quite unique. Also, as LadyT has already said, your DD1 will be a lot more reasonable in 8 months time. It will be great! Re morning sickness, mine kicked in at 5 weeks both times. And I would go to your GP ASAP. You need to get on the waiting list for the 12 week scan. If you are late with the 12 week scan then you can't have the nuchal test etc.

WG - Sorry to hear about your heartbeat scare. Neither of my girls kicked noticeably before 21 weeks so don't fret. And I am glad you had a lovely weekend away with your DH.

Trace - Like the others, I am appalled at the way your boss acted so unprofessionally and then tried to cover her tracks by making it your fault. Asking you to tell on another colleague was wrong and I would be very embarrassed if I did something like that at work. Please, please don't blame yourself for any of this.

Rubes - My feet grew a whole size in pregnancy and never went back Sad. I hope the same is not true for you.

Jolly - So sorry to hear you have hyperemmisis (sp?) again. I am thinking of you and hoping it passes quickly.

Lady - Glad you have not popped yet. Enjoy the beach. Which day is your c-section?

I know I have missed lots of people but I must hop off and unpack before taking DD2 to Westfield to purchase some winter shoes. Her feet are huge - size 6 already. Anyone else have a big foot?

Avocadoes · 26/09/2010 13:33

Oops I forgot that I really did want to mention JJ and say that I am keeping my fingers crossed that you do not get slapped cheek. What day will your test results come back?

KiwiPanda · 26/09/2010 13:37

Avo I don't have a big foot, but I AM a big foot so I will defend your DD2 to the hilt! There is a proven* link between big feet and intelligence, charm and good looks.

*By me

Rubena · 26/09/2010 14:48

Have a nice time Lady. Glad you got the buggy you wanted. My dh couldn't give a hoot about buggies. In fact I had originally bought the Out-n-About when ds was born and sold it on eBay a few months later as it had no toddler seat options and it was in almost brand new condition too. I had my big presentation ready for dh about why I needed to swap and he couldn't have cared a bit - just said get whatever one you want Grin He did get a little over excited about pimping ds's cot though, and actually put neon lights under itHmm

Avo, glad you had a nice time in Italy. DS's feet are about a size 5 so not massive although he was able to wear his size 6 sandals in Summer that he was given although they were slightly big.
Hmm, but strangely the shoes I bought while I was out (and wore out of the shop) were also heels, and my normal size and feel fine. I must have just forgotten that the ones I took to London were really uncomfortable Hmm but I will monitor them....

JumpJockey · 26/09/2010 15:17

Avo welcome back! Sounds like an absolutely idyllic holiday Envy Any pic of the girls as bridesmaids? Test results back on Weds, dd all better now (well apart from the fact that she's been upstairs for half an hour burbling away and refusing to nap Hmm)

kiwi re cheerfulness, if you're 4 weeks pg you're actually only about 2 weeks pg really, and DH says there's very little to worry about with booze in the first few weeks. His favourite "PG and worried" story is a lady who worked out that she conceived just before going pretty mad at Glastonbury, has a 2 year old now who is just fab :)

KiwiPanda · 26/09/2010 15:26

Good point JJ, now where's the vin rouge Wink

It is a very rainy Sunday afternoon in Paris. Should really go out now that I've filed my copy and have a rare few hours off, but it's pouring and cold and I have Jilly Cooper to read [guilty pleasure Blush ]

JumpJockey · 26/09/2010 15:40

sorry for stopping halfway through, phone call from college fundraising bod and it's hard to concentrate on mumsnet when you're chatting! Actually very interesting to hear how things are going at the old alma and who's still there etc.

kiwi - Can you go to a cafe and drink (decaf) espresso looking moodily out at a rainy boulevard? And then have your pic taken for one of your own fashion articles? Grin Baby appointments, I went to make the booking appt with my gp and got told by the receptionist they don't see mums until 10 weeks 'to make sure you're definitely PG' Hmm which is a slightly dubious way of phrasing it.

Right - was going to say re feet, dd is a 5 as well. It's v cute when she finds her ickle pair of size 2 first tots shoes and tries to wedge them on!

Oh - proud mummy moment, yesterday she identified all of Maisy's friends in a book! And we've got a very sweet version of wind the bobbin up, she does a sort of groovy dance with her hands to say she wants to sing, and then she hums along until the end of each line when we get a very careful "thwee" or "door" or "kneeeeee" Grin

Rubena · 26/09/2010 18:39

Got 2 bottles of nice cheerfulness off dh's great Grandma for my birthday. How cool is she! Grin

Veggiemummy · 26/09/2010 19:10

DS2 is a 6 as well Avo, my DH has unusually large feet for his height Wink & DS1 has quite big feet so might be a genetic thing. Unfortunately both boys have inherited my bizarrely narrow feet & DS2 is an E on the clarks width chart which the sales lady raised her eyebrows about?? Not quite sure why.

Kiwi you must go out now eat banana & nutella crepes & sit in a steamy cafe window looking oh so wistful chic. I think I'm going to have to go down to Paris while my mum is here, at least to use her babysitting skills while I wander out and sit on cafes desperately trying to look chic & wistful. By the way Kiwi did your feet grow during pregnancy Grin

I went to my GP at bang on 5 weeks with both boys. With DS1 in Wapping the GP told me I had to decide if I wanted to go private or NHS by the end of the week or I wouldn't get my 12 week scan, as it was he said it would be more like 14 weeks anyway (not surprisingly I opted for private care). With DS2 in 'Dar-bay' they told me to contact the MWs at 8 weeks to get a 10 week booking in appointment.

Lady I think I had that babies head around my knees feeling from about 2 weeks before both boys popped out. Is it the 29th you are booked in?

DH & I were soooooooooo bad this morning. We had both boys in bed with us, nana & pip were still in bed downstairs & we were snuggling with our boys. The boys started happily playing together so DH & I decided to have a snoozy cuddle. DH put Cbeebies alphablocks on his phone for them to watch. Well you can imagine what happened Blush, yes we had a ever so slightly subtle cheeky bonk! No need to go into logistics but it was very subtle the boys had no idea. How naughty are we, doing naughty things with our boys in close range, with my mum downstairs!!!! But the worst of it is we managed to...erm...achieve mutual satisfaction, within one episode of Alphablocks!!! It's lasts for 3mins!

PinguRocks · 26/09/2010 20:11

Just quickly checking in to wave hello. Have been trying to keep up but have been feeling a bit sorry for myself so didn't really feel like posting - sorry!
Firstly big congratulations to Mr & Mrs SL on lovely baby H. Congratulations to all the newly clackered ladies too - is it just me and ZJ left now?
Very exciting about the impending arrival of babyLady and good to hear that you are finally taking things a bit easier. trace I echo what everyone else has said and don't think you should have been put in that position.
Re: tantrums we have plenty but DD still doesn't really talk. At all. So I agree that it's definitely down to frustration in part. The rest is that she's a stroppy madam that doesn't like not getting her own way. In our case anyway.
There was lots more I wanted to say and I feel bad that I've missed lots of people out but am on phone so posting now just in case and hopefully will be able to catch up more later. Oh and Beans I want to sponsor you but would like to send a charity cheque. I will facebook you for your address but am not sure if we are actually friends?

traceface · 26/09/2010 20:17

veggie Grin you cheeky thing!
WG hello. Sorry you're having worrying times - glad to know you're safe and well though.
aubs that trip sounds wonderful. So glad for you that it turned out so well.
This is just a quickie (not like Veggie's quickie!) because I need to iron Lu's unifrom for tomorrow and do our packed lunches and I'm dying to go to bed. I felt so sick this morning I was actually leaning over the loo waiting, but wasn't actually sick in the end. I think it might be all the stress and emotion of recent days. That sounds so pathetic because it was such a minor event at work really but it really has affected me lots. But I know I'm also a bit down at the moment, so I think that has exacerbated my reaction to the work stuff.
I've got another bit of house porn for you...
here DH adores this place as it ticks all his boxes, so we're going to view it. Ours isn't even on the market and I'm a bit nervous about how isolated it is (what with my tendancy to cut myself off when I'm blue), but I'd definitely like a look. I wouldn't rule it out, and it would halve my commute to work, but double dh's! Also I guess I'm quite comfortable with my GP and CPN and would find it hard to 'start again' with a new bunch of health professionals, but maybe that's a stupid thing to be anxious about. Not sure why it's so cheap - maybe the farm stinks! What do you think?

traceface · 26/09/2010 20:23

I think that house's address would make me snigger every time I had to say it though Grin
Hi Pingu! Hope you're ok. It's lovely to get a wave from you when you can.
Oh and can I join the 'why won't my child settle to sleep anymore?' club? P has decided to squawk for ages before she'll go to sleep at night, and is completely refusing her lunch time naps, although she goes down fine at nursery Hmm At home she cries and refuses to lie down, so after about 20 mins I give up, get her back down, then as soon as we go anywhere she's fast asleep as soon as the car moves. Grr.

KiwiPanda · 26/09/2010 21:27

trace that house looks lovely to me. Am now a bit depressed though as that would buy half a shoebox (and a second hand shoebox at that) on a council estate in London.

I was hoping for a nice long sleep in my hotel room tonight. Instead I have an English couple in the next room with a screaming child and even more screaming (or yelling) husband and wife who seems fixated with the hairdryer. Oh joy.

KiwiPanda · 26/09/2010 21:30

ps trace that's exactly what DD is like - and always has been. I think in her 21 months so far she has had about 4 naps at home. The rest have to involve movement, and waking after an hour. Unless she's at nursery in which case she lies down good as gold and kips for 2 hours. Confused

Apparently she made poor DH read books to her for half an hour this evening before she would go into the cot without reenacting a scene from a war movie (anguished screams, arching back, "she's taken a bullet, Sarge!")

Rubena · 26/09/2010 21:44

I see....

Veggiemummy · 26/09/2010 21:58

Hi Pingu lovely to hear from you as always, but are you ok, it is anything you need to talk about. We are here for you anytime remember.

Avo that trip sounded so amazing. I am really going to have to get to Italy soon. I love that country. And your own chef that's amazing!

Im watching Sense & sensibility, losing myself in Alan Rickmans voice.

Trace I'm sorry this work thing has upset you so much. Your manager is very naughty. I think we may need to form a posse.

Kiwi DS1 was like that would never sleep in his cot for naps but would lay down happily at nursery & settle himself to sleep.

Avocadoes · 26/09/2010 22:25

Hi Pingu, lovely to hear from you. Sorry that you have been feeling down. I hope its nothing too serious.

Trace - I'm like Kiwi, I just can't believe how much space you get for your money outside of London. Let us know what you think of the house when you see it in the flesh.

Veg - we didn't have a chef just for our family. The wedding party was taking up the whole hotel. It was amazing though. A huge breakfast each morning. Then the most exquisite three course lunch. Freshly baked cake at 4 each afternoon. Childrens' tea at 6pm which was so scrumptious we all tucked in. Then a four course meal each night!!! And, I, um, put on 6 lbs...

I have to retract my statement about DD2 being a big foot. I thought she was a six and a half because DH took her to get crocs before our hols and he reckons that is what they measured her to be. Anyway, today she measured as a 5! No wonder she spent most of the holiday tripping over... I guess the bright side is that those crocs should still fit next summer.

LadyThompson · 26/09/2010 22:26

I'm just not up to posting as I would like to at the right now, as since we got back from Bournemouth (chips on the beach, DP and DD went on a giant inflatable slide Grin) I have been tidying and now my ankles are really swollen. I am bringing a newborn baby back to a cluttered, dirty/dusty flat and it makes me a bit sad. The dirt will be blitzed tomorrow and Tuesday though.

Just wanted to say to Avo, I am not surprised you feel glum to be home, the trip sounds utterly, utterly marvellous! I am so pleased the wedding was lovely. My section is on Wed Shock I am not ready! Too much to do!

Rubes, that is amazing your DH has a great granny, let alone one with such impeccable taste! I hope you had some lovely treats for your birthday.

Pingu, smashing to hear from you - was only thinking about you the other day. Sorry you've been feeling a bit blue. I hope it passes for you.

Trace, have only glanced at the house but it looks super. I know you feel a bit flattened by the week's events but honestly, try to let it swill over you. Let them get on with their storm in a tea cup, lovey. Not your prob.

Veggie, you are too naughty! I can't even think of such things with DD close by. She is a real passion killer Grin

JJ, it's amazing to think you had to buy shoes when your DD was a size 2. DD's first shoes were a size 4, which she is still in Grin Think you've got a little singer like you and your DH? You asked me last week about DD's eating - it went back when we were at Mum's. It's still pretty bad but it is undeniably better than it was at its nadir...

Ouch, my ribs.

Veggiemummy · 26/09/2010 22:31

Oh so now your child has lovely petit feet and my DS2 has huge skinny feet all by himself Avo.

Where did you fly into Avo? I think I might have to lean on DH for a little Italian action for the October half term. We usually fly into Pisa to go to Tuscany but is there anywhere closer?
