Or even here

DeidreBarlow · 21/09/2010 16:05

Hello all,

Cystitis still here...GP has prescribed AB's over the phone but I can't get prescription until the morning.

beans I did a 5K earlier in the year after about 4 months of training 2-3 times a week. I did it in 34 mins which I thought was pretty respectable, just doing it at all so quickly after having a baby is AMAZING - don't pressure yourself with time constraints.

summer Glad the shoes fit.

rubes sorry to hear DD has come down with a cold now too. Wishing all the other sickies a speedy recovery. Best dash I need the loo again

Used once is a bit odd, maybe it is heavy or difficult to use!! I've heard lots of people with older toddlers say they seldom used their double buggy as the older one always wanted to walk. Maybe the owners child was older when no 2 arrived so they didn't end up using it. My friend's son was 2.6 when the 2nd one arrived and she has hardly used hers.

I'm shattered today . Must do some more work before collecting DD.

JollyBear · 21/09/2010 16:09

Ouch poor you DB. Is cranberry juice still the thing to try or has that been debunked now?

Oooh summer are those the 2nd pair on your list, the red ones with the bow? How big is the heel? I've a wedding soon and they look great, although I'm a flat shoe person so they might be too high for me.

Right, MUST WORK. Can you tell my heart is not in work today?!

Rubena · 21/09/2010 16:36

Well managed a trip to Tesco (minus kids)as I wanted Sudofed after you mentioned it Lady - forgot how good that stuff is. Got dd some nasal stuff too and stocked up on Calbuprofen. it's a total chemist here. I usually order from Chemist direct as they are much cheaper but obviously couldn't wait. Also had to pick up my shoulder paperwork for the choose and book thing (got to wait 3 weeks) and get my b/c prescription filled so games off for a week till that kicks in here too Grin

Lady I wished I had taken Coffee bags to hospital and asked for boiling water and milk as their coffee was awful (well at Royal Berks anyway!) Otherwise all I took was makeup Grin toiletries etc phone charger, maternity pads (never needed breast pads as have never ever leaked Hmm, slippers, stretchy bottoms or PJ's, Brigitte Jones knickers Grin and teeny weeny baby clothes. I'm a TV addict though so all I cared about was my TV subscription to watch Big Brother Blush Can't remember what else - not much as I was planning to high tail it out of there asap!
As far as the used once thing - I'd ask for sure. But keep in mind they probably won't tell you the real reason. My guess is they didn't get on with it for whatever reason or saw something else they wanted after buying it or perhaps it was used at the g'parents house and not used much ie my mil has bought loads of baby stuff but we are rarely around there - she is usually here.
thanks - don't forget to send your address! Are you still going up to your sisters on Thurs?
I like those new MN features!

Summer glad those shoes worked out.

Rubena · 21/09/2010 16:40

I need some new PJ's (just decided that since I've spent the last 2 days not getting dressed) where can I get some nice once? Any recommendations?

Rubena · 21/09/2010 16:43

Oh and bugger what anyone says Lady - I reckon you haven't moaned enough! You're already past the date I had dd (I think? - she was born at 38+2) and I did nothing but complain for the proceeding 7 months 4 weeks at least, and I wasn't diy-ing at all!!

LadyThompson · 21/09/2010 17:06

I bought some nice pink check and white pj bottoms in H&M - but there are a lot of nasties in their nightwear too. What about Boden? Or Toast?

I am going to Mum's tomorrow eve from London, and coming back with my sister & co on Sat morn. I shouldn't really, I should do stuff on the house. But I don't feel like I have seen her for ages, so bugger it, and I will be working on the house all Sat and Sun. And possibly Mon, though whilst DP is off he has to go to some judge's do on Mon afternoon. So glad you got Sudofed. It makes me feel human when I have a bad cold.

Coffee - good call. I will take that tiny travel kettle, some milk and stuff as I remember the coffee in the Lindo wing totally sucking. Breast pads - took some last time, but didn't need them until days later when despite the pill they had given me to stop the milk, it all appeared.

Oh dear, DP will be home soonish and DD's hair looks like the poor child has been in an institution...Gulp.

LadyThompson · 21/09/2010 17:12

Sorry you can't get the ABs until the morning, DB, but at least they will sort you out fast once you get 'em...

DeidreBarlow · 21/09/2010 17:16

lady I forgot about your DD's hair do! Will DP be really cross?

As for the pushchair, I have a friend who bought 3 when she had her DD, she simply didn't like the first 2 and just sold them on, so it might be something as simple as that!

summer I have been drinking lots of cranberry juice, I think it might be better with a good slug of vodka in it thoughGrin

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 21/09/2010 17:28

I have already told him it is 3/4 of an inch above her eyebrows. He has banned me from ever cutting her hair again! Grin

Yes, I think it's probably a straightforawrd reason for the 'used once' and DP just has an overactive imagination. (Or they are fibbing!)

EffiePerine · 21/09/2010 17:28

Glad you got the ABs Deirdre. I have had a few nasty infections and the ABs shifted them pretty quickly.

Lady: I am very pleased to hear that you are buggering off away from the house for a few days. What a nice idea to spend some time with your mum.

Rubes: hooray for drugs! I hope you all get some proper sleep tonight.

I am SO tired - worked at the weekend (Open House) which I am not used to. Another event Thursday. Lots of meetings. Roll on October is all I say.

Of course what I need to do is a) stop eating crap and b) get off my arse and do some exercise.

Just had a text from DH - he has picked up the family wheels! Against all advice we have bought a small 3 door hatchback that will do 0-60 in 13 seconds. Go us (in the slow lane with our knees round our ears).

LadyThompson · 21/09/2010 17:45

That is super duper about the car, Effie. Do you both drive?

Rubena · 21/09/2010 17:52

Oh forgot about dd's hair!! That's hilarious! it will have grown in no time, don't worry. I need to cut ds's mullet actually. mil always goes crook as it's cutting his curls off! yeah I feel much better for being all drugged up however I kind of feel like I'm not really in the room! Hmm

Beans33 · 21/09/2010 18:21

Lady - I cut DD1's fringe regularly and she looks like a proper geek for a few days, then calms down and it looks normal... Hair grows. That what I'm telling myself as had my long hair cut short a few weeks ago and I still hate it!

Thanks for all kind words re 5k run. You're right, I should be proud for just doing it at all! Wonder if I'll make it round! Am going to my parents' house next weekend, so will try to do one run a day. Weep.

Wow, what a day. Took the girls into my office at about 11 this morning. DD1 fell asleep in the car on the way there, and woke up at 11.30 when we arrived. DD2 dozed on and off the whole time we were there. Obviously she'd done a massive crap through her clothes when we arrived - luckily I'd packed a babygrow just in case. I had to change her in meeting room! I was v proud of my DDs as they charmed everyone being v smiley and lovely. Took DD1's Pooshchar with us as well, so she was pushing that round the office. Then went for a pizza express with my favourite girl in the office. DD2 screamed all the way home.

DD1 was totally wiped out with exhaustion this afternoon, so I have just put them both to bed now. DD2 gone without a squeak. DD1 screamed and screamed for 5 mins and is now out for the count. WAHAY! Early beer for me. I am exhausted though. 5am start too early for me!

DB - hope your fanny lightens up. I love that feeling when ABs kick in and you suddenly realise that going for a wee is a relief, not a horror. You poor, poor thing. I've suffered with it on and off since I was about 11 and it's miserable.

All well on the coil front. But not telling DH. Just keen to have a week without thinking about next bonk!!! HA! Now off to cook some hidden veg sauce for DD1, which she won't eat. YAWN.

Effie - yay for car - well done you and DH - we need a new one. Our lovely Bora is reaching the end of its life with 2 kids. We love it, but there just isn't enough room - sob! DH plays golf and cycles etc, so can't get in his clubs and his bike and all the baggage needed for nippers!

Re that 2nd hand buggy. We sold our Maclaren Volo after one (maybe 6) uses and got nearly full price for it. We have stupid amount of prams: 1 bugaboo, which I LOVE like a middle class fool; 1 hauck, which is a cheap version of a maclaren - cheaper than volo, but reclines; 1 double maclaren triumph, which does the trick with 2; and a running buggy for DH, which he loves taking DD1 out in once a week. And in a couple of months, when DD2 is strong enough in the neck, then I can take her out in it while DH cycles with DD1. All go!

God, I'm waffling. Think I am slightly delirious with tiredness. Rubes - sounds like you're having a bit of a rough time of things with illness. We've just been through it and are now out the other side finally! I think. DD1 still coughing, but no longer listless and miserable.

Right, must tidy the bombsite and make this veggie sauce. Then make toad in the hole for DH and me. Tell you what, we mothers/wives, really are bloody bloody marvellous. Well done us.

Beans33 · 21/09/2010 18:25

Hell. Just read that back and man oh man do I waffle.

Lady - don't forget your disposable pants and maternity pads. They do them at cost price in Boots as are government funded. Maybe I dreamt that last bit, but they are cheap as chips.

sybilfaulty · 21/09/2010 18:58

Hello everyone - sorry I haven't been on but we've terrible problems with Lucy and school, which has taken all my energy. I will try to read later but just wanted to say hi and am missing you all. Hope to be back properly soon.

Lots of love.

Beans33 · 21/09/2010 19:11

Sybs - hope you're ok - do call me if you want to - would be lovely to see you if you have time - I'm more than happy to come to you.

xx

Rubena · 21/09/2010 19:29

Boy what a day Beans - yes same problem here whenever we go out anywhere, dd always does a massive through the clothes crap. Ds does too - in fact he did that recently on a lovely walk with my parents before lunch at the pub and he had to hang out at the pub with just his nappy on the bottom and full t/shirt and jumper on the top - charming. Fortunately it was a hot sunny day HmmOh no Sybs! He's also had to borrow his little pals clothes many times when we've visited friends!

I keep thinking I feel fine and then the drugs wear off so as long as I'm drugged up I'm fine Grin
dd has been ok - just sleeping between feeds and was smiley after her 6pm one so hoping she is over the worst of it now.

Hello Sybs - hope you're ok too Sad don't forget you're welcome to visit - you too Beans, same day Spot does if you all want. Sybs I'd come to you as well - no problem as long as you don't mind ds and dd in tow as I'm rarely without them both. We're ok at people's houses, just not doing public places to well at the moment with tantrumy meltdown man!

EffiePerine · 21/09/2010 19:29

Sybs: I'm sorry you're having problems with school. Did the delegation to the teacher do any good?

Lady: DH passed his test on Friday. Gulp. I may have to learn now. The car is blue and looks plenty big to me. It's a newish Clio powered by two hamsters in a wheel.

Rubena · 21/09/2010 19:30

Don't know how that "oh no Sybs" got in there! (clearly affected by the meds here)

Rubena · 21/09/2010 19:32

I know what you mean re: cars Beans (I had the equivalent of the Bora in the USA when I lived there and loved it.
DH has loads of bike crap as well plus the 2 kids and the dog - we have Audi Avant but it's too small now Shock confirmed no need to have another Grin beans, are you planning on having a 3rd dc in future?

Rubena · 21/09/2010 19:33

well done MrEffie!

spotofcheerfulness · 21/09/2010 20:02

Hello folks, sorry not been on today, combo of hellish night (up all night again) and no time today as T isn't napping and he won't let me MN when he's around!

Went to GP and they said he has a chest and ear infection, which would explain a lot of the poor sleeping, plus he's teething too. Started on some antibiotics this afternoon so hopefully will kick in some time over the next few days and give us all some rest. Sorry you had a crap night too Veg (and BEans) and hope things turn a corner tonight.

Rubes, sorry you're feeling so poorly, did we set a date? I can't remember, what would work for you? (and Beans and Sybs)

Effie, hooray on the wheels! That's great news, I hope they open up a whole new world to you.

BEans what a lovely day, and nice work on getting them in bed so early! I am in awe and Envy of anyone who manages to get their DCs to bed before 9. Hmm about your DH's take on the running though, I'm another one in awe of your feat.

Sadly, running is a dream for me, thanks to my rubbish pelvic floor. But I have an appt with the physio next Monday to force me to do my kegels more often.

Lady I'm sorry but I love kids with really bad homemade haircuts. I haven't let myself loose on T yet but he does have an incipient mullet as DP does occasionally do his fringe. Take it easy and enjoy seeing your mum.

DB hope the antibios kick in soon. I second whoever suggested a slug of voddie in there too.

The househunting continues apace, now whenever we say to T "what are we doing today"? He inevitably says "sees" (swings) then if that doesn't get a positive response he says "house". I think he reckons it's part of life. Maybe a future in estate agency calls. Though I hope not.

I've put him to bed now but maybe a bit premature, he slept until 9.50 this morning as he was up all night so may not crash for some time yet. He's yelling at me now, better go...
