Cyteen don't forget the chocolate too! Haven't been to Christmas Market but love Bruges a beautiful place.

dizzydixies · 13/09/2010 13:57

Bruges is lovely Envy

hi all, bye all - on late shift Sad

cyteen · 13/09/2010 14:00

We watched In Bruges the other week and both developed a little city crush Grin

luckoftheirish · 13/09/2010 14:43

Go go go cyteen sounds heavenly!!

This is the longest day on record. Leaving in 20 mins to walk to get dd1 tho Smile

found out today that one of my uncle's has had two big strokes Sad he is not in the best of health either but fingers crossed he will make it thru.

oopsandbabycoconuts · 13/09/2010 16:30

Cyteen - we went to Lubeck (they make yummy marzipan here) and Hamburg in Germany definitely worth it - we are thinking of taking the girls this Christmas too but not sure where Bruge and Vienna on our list atm.

LOTI - I know how you feel the time from 9 to 12 took 12 hours today!!

luckoftheirish · 13/09/2010 16:33

hurrah, she had a fab first day and made some friends.. lets hope she feels the same tomorrow morning!!! Smile

GladioliBuckets · 13/09/2010 18:54

Eyup chooks
First proper day of working here with BF's DH, Kurt seems to have enjoyed CM's house, eaten her out of house & home and managed to poo on her floor between nappiesGrin. I sorted a whole wall of filing crap and set up a huge and v pretty spreadsheet.
Felt v strange without Kurt in tow.

Taking laptop to be fixed on Wed as I'm sure it's what's been giving me migraines all summer. Have realised it's now approx 3 a week to varying degrees so the screen is definitely degenerating.

So with that, I shall wish you all well and love and get offline before another one arrives. xxx

cyteen · 13/09/2010 18:54

Haha loti, let's hope she doesn't get the same idea as my dad. He loved his first day at school apparently, ran in all enthusiastic, ran out at the end of the day full of beans. Next day Nanna takes him back again and he looked at her in disbelief and said 'you mean I have to go again? I came here yesterday!' Grin

CaptainCaveman · 13/09/2010 19:21

lol cyteen Grin. If you don't make it to Bruges, Nottingham always has a German market at Christmas Hmm Grin Not quite the same I know...

Buckets well done on your productivity, and K pooing on the floor, well it could have been your floor so not all bad news? Wink

loti bless your big girl with the bestnameever! I hope she's still so excited tomorrow.

Hello everyone!

longwayfromhome · 13/09/2010 20:08

Lincoln has a gorgeous Christmas market, and is generally lovely and you can get a steam train special here.

On the other hand Bruges is probably nicer ...

Meant to be working. DH arrives on wednesday hurrah hurrah hurrah

pertelote · 13/09/2010 20:31

Hullo! Look, new laptop, shiny shiny!

Also.... have exchanged contracts on the house . What a business, all the lawyers involved seemed to be behaving like first daters... "I'm not going to call, I've already left a message, I'm waiting for them to call me..." Pathetic Grin Anyway it's done, we complete on Monday and move on Tuesday. Hurrah hurrah.

Sorry, I have missed masses whilst offline. Hope you are all ok. Oops I see that you are not and I'm so sorry - what a pain. Glad your doc supports your BFing though.

LOTI well done on the first day of school!

Buckets good to hear you so positive about the new occupation. Sounds like fun [admin geek faceBlush]

QoD hope S is feeling a bit better tonight and lets you get some sleep...

Cyteen Bruges sounds like a great idea. We have found Eurostar very doable with a toddler.

CaptainCaveman · 13/09/2010 20:53

oh dear, I have a new obsession to report....Blush Robbie and Gary, together, in lush new video Blush

wotcha pertelote, loving the shiney new laptop Grin

CaptainCaveman · 13/09/2010 20:54

congrats on the house news too, hope it all goes to plan next week

cyteen · 13/09/2010 22:04

Oh great news pert, you must be so relieved. Crack open the champers and enjoy :)

Am off to bed, super paranoid as our dinner was interrupted by a RAT Shock We heard a scritching in the chimney and both stared at it (remembering incident in previous house where dead bird trapped in flue resulted in massive bluebottle invasion [vom]), and then saw something moving down where the fireplace meets the wall. DP thought it was insects but they were too regular. I am convinced they were rat feet, climbing down the inside of our fireplace. I saw a big bastard rat the other day running across our street, in broad daylight!

Needless to say, neither cat shifted a whisker Angry

pertelote · 13/09/2010 22:36

Thanks Smile

Yuck Cyteen how grim. It might be worth calling someone in the a.m., we saw a rat when we were in our old old house and the council came double quick. And they charge for exterminating mice but not rats, round here at least.

TwilightSurfer · 14/09/2010 01:21

Who knew sitting in a lounge chair all afternoon could be so tiring.HmmSmile

Oops how very odd they want you to NOT MOVE until things get settled down. How on earth do you suppose they imagine that can happen? I'll start sending you some magical vibes to speed up the process. In the mean time, I'm going to worry about you a lot. ((((hug))))

Pert like the laptop.Envy

There was more but my brain is like this Biscuit this evening.Hmm

OP posts:
springaporesling · 14/09/2010 04:23

Pert great news on the house - finally!

Cyteen oh no - one of our cats caught one when we were in London it was so big she could hardly carry it. I was in the lounge watching tv and DH was upstairs she was just by the front door so I remember seeing just the tail then shouting at DH to come and deal with it whilst I locked myself in the lounge - am such a chicken but hate rats and mice so glad it's not me. That said if there are any spiders then roles are reversed as DH can't stand them and they don't bother me.

Night TS

Loti so pleased dd1 had a lovely day at school and hope all goes well tomorrow.

DS had another good day at nursery and when leaving I said what do you say to Miss Naz - DS 'Thank you my school' ahhhh - for one that is so cheeky he's unbelievably cute at the moment. He spent most of yesterday afternoon trying to persuade the cat to play 'tractors' with him. The poor cat ended up surrounded by assorted plastic farm animals when all he was trying to do was have a nap.

GladioliBuckets · 14/09/2010 08:27

Cavey Do you mean the trailer for Brokeback Mountain 2?Wink

cyteen · 14/09/2010 08:49

Morning all, DS up at 5am Hmm although DP did most of the hard work and I stayed in bed till 6.30am Blush

Tis definitely rodents of some description, we can hear it/them scuttling about behind the kitchen sink Angry So an exciting time of twice-daily vacuuming and cleaning out under the cooker lies ahead.

spring I quite like rats and mice in a pet context, but not when the buggers turn up unexpectedly in one's home. My brother had rats come in when he was midway through chemo (v not good when you've got a suppressed immune system), culminating in a sad scene of horror where he had to put a maimed trapped rat out of its misery using his shoe Shock

luckoftheirish · 14/09/2010 09:41

help!!! looking after dd2 and dnephew who is 10 1/2 months!! forgot how much work babies are!!!

CrispyTheCrisp · 14/09/2010 10:54

Ewwwww cyteen, i do feel for you. We only have mice and i can just about deal with them but rats, i would have to say no, and as for your brother dealing with one . We used to have pet rats at school, and they were ok (we used to race them along the desks Hmm), but unexpected ones. No.
I would call the council rather then just trying to clear up and hope they go away.

Hurrah for MrLongway's imminenent arrival Smile

LOTI so glad DD1 had fun at school and i hope it has continued today Grin

buckets lovely that K is having fun at the CM. Have you got a date through for the assessment? Hope laptop gets fixed, or could you pick up a second hand one?

Brilliant, brilliant news on the house Pert, and LOL @ solicitors acting like they are on a first date Grin. Fingers x'd all progresses smoothly, and don't forget, pics please

Mum & Dad came to stay yesterday and have gone off today to see friends and coming back here tomorrow. DD1 told them off for only coming for one sleepover Grin

DId anyone see Jamie Oliver's programme last night? In some ways i think he is a bit of a tit, but by christ, the food those children were being given to eat Sad. TS not sure if it has been aired in the US, but was about schools in Huntingdon, West V irginia

CrispyTheCrisp · 14/09/2010 12:06

Ha, just saw this on a friends FB:

A real man is a woman's best friend. He will
never stand her up and never let her down.
He will reassure her when she feels insecure
and comfort her after a bad day.

...He will inspire her to do things she never
thought she could do.. He will enable her to be confident, sexy, seductive, and invincible.

No wait... sorry.... I was thinking of wine. It?s wine that does all that.....Bugger, never mind!

cyteen · 14/09/2010 12:46

Arf Grin

Yes Crispy I agree; after finding a large rodent poo in the living room while vacuuming earlier , I left a faintly hysterical message for our landlord demanding that he organise the exterminators and get the under-sink area fixed. Like so much else in this stupid house, the kitchen is elderly and neglected so the back of the under-sink cupboard has caved in from damp Hmm. It's ratty paradise back there.

Anyway, enough about the rats. Just back from fairly hellish shoe-shopping trip with DS and lovely friend, who came to help wrangle. We sat in the JL cafe to have a cake rest , and as we wrestled our stroppy toddlers we were stared at by a group of mums with just-crawling babies. I felt like leaning over and saying 'welcome to your future'.

Buckets glad the job is working out. Not enough people recognise the value of good admin support, so it's great that your employers do :)

TwilightSurfer · 14/09/2010 13:43

Crispy DD1 and I watch Jamie from time to time. It is sad about some of the food passed off in our schools. That area of the country is the poorest and the fattest so an excellent choice for a revolution.

OP posts:
CrispyTheCrisp · 14/09/2010 13:50

It was why they chose it TS. Apparently the fattest town, in fattest county etc etc with very early death rates. The food and the additives in the processed crap were just grim Sad

Apparently it has been shown on US TV and won an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Show
