Welcome to the latest thread for mums of babies born in March ( and a few in Feb and one in April!).

Come on in. Find out who'll be pg next and who's weaning onto what.

Morning all.

DD is at school and DS is asleep. It really feels very strange to have 2 hands free to type Grin.

DH is back from his 4-day weekend in Scotland and I am very glad for it. I had fed DS at 8pm last night and at 10:30 he was awake again. So I sent DH who managed to get him back to sleep without a feed and he made it through to 3:30 am. Hooray!!

Sariska Thanks! I should avoid getting on the defensive before there really is an issue. I was made redundant the last time I came back off maternity leave, so I may be overly sensitive about it. The thing is that the project I was hired for was canceled. I am meeting him in 2 weeks time so hopefully I will then know more about it. TBH, I would prefer not to go back to my job anyway, so it may all be a blessing in disguise.

DrSkid How horrid for you that DS is so upset when you are away. I am sure he will adjust soon. Envy at the thought of drinking anything hot!

Pacific I hope your dad's stubbornness health improves quickly.

Oh, and I don't remember who asked about crawling. DS is not really crawling properly but he is pulling himself along with his arms. He has recently started lifting his tummy off the floor as well though. I am thinking I will have to start baby-proofing my house soon .

sunshinesarahandco · 13/09/2010 11:29

hello Ladies,

sorry o have been lurking lately, x been really busy here as usual!

Welcome McDreamy! lovely to have you here,

not got much to say rea;;y but will be back!

Flisspaps · 13/09/2010 13:09

Hi all

Have had a swift read through but hard to type as DD wants to have a go.

Thinking of those of you who are having tough times, will be back to post later when not fighting dd for control of the keyboard!

PacificDogwood · 13/09/2010 14:38

DrSkid, just v briefly "Food's for fun til one" ie milk should be baby's main food until they are 1 year old. So do not stress about solids, keep offering them, keep giving milk (at whatever time of day or night Wink) and by the time your LO is 16 they will eat, I guarantee it Grin!

Why oh why did I think it was a good idea to have a couple of boys round to play with DS1 and 2 this afternoon?

Shroomer · 13/09/2010 21:01

Thanks to all for messages about my undercarriage Smile The gynae (and Pacific has it on the nose here) said my pelvic muscle is very tight. Hey, maybe I did TOO MANY pelvic floor exercises! Nah - sex was fine right up until the c-section. This last point is something the gyn consultant shrugged his shoulders at. He told me to relax when having sex. Erm, I am. I've to give it another couple of weeks and go back if still have painful sex. Ho hum.

on the weaning front, I've just made industrial amounts of cauli cheese.

MummyElk · 13/09/2010 21:13

evening all
have been the lurkiest of lurkers recently and somehow not managed to post, and now my one chance of posting is being RUINED by my two year old who is refusing point blank to go to bed. DH is away for the night. I have had the shittest day. and before I get the chance to rant my youngest is now squeaking.
So, ladies, consider yourself lucky - you were about to get a Melk Meltdown. Instead I'm going to cut my losses and go to bed.

mcdreamy welcome, nice to see a new face
drskid equally nice to see a face from yore.

more tomorrow i hope.
big love

oh dear Sad for mummyelk meltdown. I do hope you get a good sleep and chez melk is a happier household in the morning.
Sad also for shroomer being told to relax! That is probably the most annoying bit of advice to be given and guaranteed to make you tense up even more!
Baby G is getting a bit more enthusiastic about BLW, she was sucking away very happily on roast chicken and chasing the veggies across the table. She hasn't got the hang of the doidy cup at all and tries to lap it up like a puppy! I've been spooning weetabix and yogurts but with less success each time I try. She is desperate to grab the spoon herself and flicks it everywhere without getting much in at all. Fortunately I completely agree with pacific's 'food is for fun up until one' mantra FI4FUU1 .... not quite as catchy as TTSP Grin
today on 'active' convos I spotted the MMMM southern breakaway thread and I see it is gathering pace. 4 hours on a train is better than 7 hours on a train but it's still a long way for me Sad but I'm so tempted Grin
I'm off to meet IWCAS tomorrow which is exciting

hecklephone · 13/09/2010 22:28

Hello all, I've also been a bit of a lurkster for the past few days, mainly due to being more than usually attached to DD2 and regressing to having her in bed all night for the past few nights, leading to much tiredness. Blah blah blah, I could go into details but we all seem to have our issues to grumble about just now and mine really are not much to speak of in the grand scheme of things. The suspected cause of this sleep regression was finally confirmed to me this evening though - tooth number 4 has been spotted peeking through! I'm hopeful now it's cut she'll go back to her 'normal' routine for a while...at least til the next one Hmm

melk Sad sorry you're having a tough time and the DDs are playing up. I hope you get lots of sleep and have a better day tomorrow.

shroomer what a crap problem to have and rubbish that it's taking so long for anyone to help you sort it...I hope things improve soon. You never know, the next couple of weeks could see things turn around after all

IWCAS any improvement in the sleep yet? Have a good moan to smac, I'm sure she won't mind! Wink Grin

Welcome Mcdreamy!
Hello again DrSkid!

Weaning - persisting with the BLW and also giving the odd spoonful of yoghurt/puree/fruit etc. She seems to enjoy the BLW thing more than the spoon but still isn't really eating much. It's not worrying me though, especially now I know FI4FUU1 Grin What a great saying. I'm so much more relaxed about what DD2 is or is not eating than I was with DD1. It's good not to stress when all the solids baby has for her lunch is 2 spoonfuls of yoghurt, a suck on some toast and a lick of a cucumber stick Grin Grin

Hi to anyone else I've forgotten about or overlooked.

On a completely random note, is anyone else who's BFing really looking forward to wearing a Proper Underwired Bra again??

SmacsGonePotty · 13/09/2010 22:47

oh yes heckle I can't wait to wear a decent bra again. Grin

Flisspaps · 13/09/2010 22:58

Shroomer What a load of tosh from the gynae, 'relax when you're having sex' - well, if only you'd known that all you needed was for someone to tell you that eh?

Melk Wishing you a restful night and a Happy Tuesday.

Smac DD was also enjoying a roast chicken dinner yesterday, she really seems to love veg which is good, not so keen on mini shredded wheat though. She does really well with yoghurt on a pre-loaded spoon but sometimes sticks the spoon in her mouth, holds it with one hand and uses the other to scrape the yoghurt into her mouth. Whatever works I suppose. I too am considering the MMMM(S)(Unauth) but it's a 6hr round trip. Will have to sleep on it I think.

heckle proper bras were such a joy when I gave up bf, honestly. Oh to have boobs somewhere near where they should be!

Anyway, chez Fliss we are currently cutting a second tooth, and attempting to crawl but not succeeding. We're managing to go backwards and in a circle but not forwards. Yet. Any day now though and I'll actually have to babyproof the house as opposed to just moving DD back to where she started Hmm So much mobility, so little common sense.

SmacsGonePotty · 13/09/2010 23:18

oh and my other news today was that I managed to catch DD2 as she did her first ever roll off the bed. I had popped her down too near the edge as I was flustered and DD1 was driving me round the twist rearranging everything in my bedroom and all of a sudden DD2 was over the edge. I am thanking my netball training in primary school for my lightening speed reactions Grin

siamesecatwoman · 14/09/2010 03:08

Grrrrr. Please note the time and the fact it is not dd who has kept me up this late. F.... Monarch! Back when i have slept....

DrSkidaddle · 14/09/2010 09:35

hello!

Sympathies to Melk and others (e.g. me!) from lack of sleep. DS2 was in our bed all night last night and was up to feed/poo 6 times!

shroomer - on the positive side, I guess if he's telling you to relax, it means everything looks like it's ok physically (and so he assumes you are tense)? But I guess that doesn;t help much when you are relaxed and it's still painful Sad

pacific - thanks for the FI4FUU1 mantra - both my others were such big eaters this is really wierd but I will keep chanting it. He did actually have a massive dinner last night - and then spent most of the night poo-ing so maybe milk is easier all round...
And sympathies on the having boys round to play - boys are a nightmare to have round aren't they? Such a contrast to when my DD has a girl round and they disappear into her room for 3 hours without a sound - such bliss!

wow at the almost crawlers dizzi and flis!

heckle - yes can;t WAIT to wear a normal bra again - have even been considering it although I only work half days so would have to get home at 1pm and rip my bra off to feed DS with our nanny still there Grin

ditto Envy at DH's trips. He went to a wedding in Ireland at the weekend, leaving me with 3 under 5, and then complained he was tired and hungover when he got back because he hadn't got to bed until 5am - now that should be illegal/punishable by death (instead he got off lightly with narrowed eyes and a snort of disgust)

BusyMissIzzy · 14/09/2010 10:28

Morning all, have been lurking and reading with interest but never feel I have much to say... also trying to keep up momentum on the original and best MMMM (York) so it doesn't fall by the wayside now we've got a Southern meet-up planned. So please pop in to the thread and contribute if you're still interested :)

I have a question to ask actually: is anyone else finding that introducing solids has blown their baby's routine to smithereens? Isobel was just starting to settle into something resembling a predictable feeding routine, but now that she's getting solids it's all gone to hell. She used to reliably go down for a morning nap at 9.30, which was when I'd do my exercise DVDs, but now she's just not doing that anymore, and sometimes (like today, it seems) it's 10.30 before I get exercised, showered and breakfasted. And I don't like it, I feel like I'm waiting for her to nap all morning and it makes me irritable. But then I feel guilty because she's only a little baby and it's not her fault. Plus I don't know what to do with her when she's awake for 3 hours at a time!

Shroomer I'm sorry you haven't had any answers on the gynae front; I'm still also finding sex painful. Have mentioned it to 2 GPs; both did internal exams, took swabs to rule out infection and suggested I use plenty of lubrication.

Melk sorry you had a rough time, hope things have calmed down a bit now.

Nice to see you again DrSkid and welcome DrMcDreamy :)

Gotta go, hopefully back later.

sunshinesarahandco · 14/09/2010 10:36

elliott gone back to bed so am sat having a hot cuppa and a catch up- dreading weigh in tonight as drank lots at the weekend eeeeekkkk! lol

ValiumtheConqueror · 14/09/2010 14:03

Just ducking my head in: the Pocket Dictator has decided she will not wear nappies any more so I'm on constant loo duty. The Dimpled One is yummy as ever, happy to do as she wants whilst Big Sister is at nursery, and battling her first cold. I of course, am going slightly bonkers planning for our epic journey to the States on Sunday. I feel, much like I did when pregnant, quite emotional and am up most nights with hightmares about death and desertion, fuelled no doubt by the knowledge that my dear DH has to stay behind until Friday to work. I don't like doing things without him.

Gah- did I mention I am being a pathetic wuss? Ignore me Grin

Oh Pixie, I'm sure DD2 doesn't mean the things she's saying. It must be hard for her; 12 is a tough age anyway, and with her asthma to contend with, I can see why she'd be lashing out. It must be hard for you though. And of course you're not a crap mum; I struggle enough with one 6mo, never mind two, plus older ones as well. We all have days that shake our confidence though; feeling guilty seems to be an unavoidable part of being a parent. I hope tomorrow is a better day x

Valium you're not pathetic at all. I was on here bitching and moaning last week about a train trip to Edinburgh, and see above comment re: having only one baby. I'm sure your trip to the States will be fine, but you're only human to stress about it.

PacificDogwood · 14/09/2010 21:31

Whilst I wish you all nothing but the most entertaining and cute days with your children and quiet and peaceful nights with them, I cannot begin to tell you how much it helps that it is not always so with some of you some of the time! I am not alone

Pixie, oh gawd, I SO know where you are coming from! I am just beginning to glimpse the impossibility of being all things to all people in this family at the same time ideally. I know that you know that your DDs in their hearts of hearts don't mean what they are saying to you, but I am sure that does not make it any easier to hear at times.

Melk, hope today was a Good Day for you.

Smac and IWCAS, I trust you had a nice mini-meetup with lots of mutual therapy... and cake Grin

Valium, you are NOT pathetic. The thought of packing for a long weekend away makes me come out in a cold sweat, never mind transatlantic travel. Wishing you a good trip and a phantastic stay Smile.

Bras: cannot wait to wear a decent one again, although I dislike underwires intensely and need ones with cutting-edge engingeering to hoist up the norkage! After I had finished feeding DSs1 and 2 using the same 3 NCT feeding bras I had to ritually burn them, that's how fed up I was

PacificDogwood · 14/09/2010 21:34

Ha, I made it into 'Discussions of the Day'
Grin

Ooh, PD, you're famous. And I've met you, that makes me famous by association. Hope the vaccinations go ok tomorrow.

hecklephone · 15/09/2010 19:19

Just popping in to share 2 facts - DD2 is six months old today. Also I discovered today she has SIX TEETH. Shock Shock Shock I knew she had three and spotted the 4th a couple of days ago, but was so focused on that one breaking through I didn't realise 4 and 5 were also peeking through from either side! Shock and indeed Blush. I feel bad for not even realising and not making more of an effort to relieve her discomfort. At least I know for sure now that's why her sleeping's gone to pot Hmm. I'm also feeling a bit [eek emoticon] about bfing a baby with almost a full set of gnashers!!

I'm off again to check out pd's famous thread...

BusyMissIzzy · 15/09/2010 19:34

Six teeth is pretty awesome Heckle. We have none here yet. I can feel the bottom front ones though (and I'm sure I can almost see them), but I guess they might be "nearly" there for a while yet.

In other news, Isobel has just started getting up into sitting position from crawling position. She still sometimes falls backwards and bumps her head when she's sitting, so I'm worried now because I can't just lie her down anymore.
