Welcome to the latest thread for mums of babies born in March ( and a few in Feb and one in April!).

Come on in. Find out who'll be pg next and who's weaning onto what.

Back again - great thread PD! Knowing now what other BFers have to put up with I'm glad DD2 is so well behaved! I shouldn't really worry about a few teeth compared to your pounding every time you feed Wink

sunshinesarahandco · 15/09/2010 19:55

hey all- pd fab thread,

Pixie!!!! oh hun hope your ok but i agree with the others your girls really dont mean it, you are doing a great job x

Heckle- wow 6 teeth!

BMI crwaling to sitting in impressive- Elliott can sit for a long time and get from lieing down up to sitting if he is slightly raised up(iyknwim) he is still not too keen on tummy time and gets pretty fed up-

he had his first swing at the park this week DD thought it was great that he was swinging too:)

Nursery has been a huge sucess for Rosie, she has been totally dry Grin and well behaved!!!! (where is my real child) and asked to go again tomorrow, she is not back in til next tues so we have a few days to shopGrin have decided we all need new hats and gloves as its freezing now!!!!LOL

stayed the same at slimming world but am happy as not been a great week tbh- lost 2.5stones sice the day i gave birth so cant be bad x long way to gobut happy all the same.

erm ran out of things to bore u with!!!! off for a shower bbl!

MummyElk · 15/09/2010 20:13

hi all
First off, thank you for the words of support etc (on fbk and on hereSmile), much much appreciated and I apologise again for my swearing semi rant. As PD said, it does help somehow to know that you are not alone!!
Second of all (and this deserves a couple of Shock Shock) - on being given the choice tonight by DH of a glass of wine or access to the Mac.....I chose the Mac!!! Grin i haven't even had the chance to LURK these past couple of days, let alone post so been feeling the need ladies!! The shock obviously got to DH too because I, in fact, have both the Mac and a glass of vino Grin

Glad to hear mostly all is well, despite the various family flounces etc, ye gods can i feel your pain on that one, we have seen utter fireworks this week (and not just from me) (throat still sore from screeching yesterday Blush)
Also good to hear of Teeth!! Hurray! Thea's are coming through now, we've had those two little ones since week 6 but they are properly emerging, if that makes any sense??Hmm. She's being lush, frankly, despite the two hourly feedings and general ear-pulling/over-tiredness etc etc. There aren't many people who would cope with a book being bashed over their heads or Eyelid Pulling Experiments Hmm with so little fuss.
Teeth do remind me of Elk biting incidents, very much in the manner of pd's thread she would look at me devilishy and then BITE, drawing blood occasionally....
Elk is being pretty, um, TwoYearOldish - she is a lovely girl, really, but pretty testy. As I write both DH and I have given up on bedtime for the moment and she is busy putting various babies/dogs to bed on the lounge floor Hmm whilst we sort of ignore her. Quite why she can't do this sort of role playing at length during the day i know not!! But hey that's what toddlers do, right?!!!! Grin

valium have everything crossed for you, I do hope the combined potty training and trans-atlanticness go brilliantly...you are brill for doing it all!! Good work.

quick shout out to BMI who i think gets the prize for being super friendly/supportive/optimistic and generally all roundedly marvellous, you just seem to be always full of, i don't know, sunshine. Not that the rest of you aren't, my lovelies, really, but I just feel she deserves a little mention.
Speaking of which i need to find the various MMMM threads - so will pop off there and then hopefully pop back later.
Sorry this is so long and yet so uninteresting! A lot really has happened, i promise, but in the wider picture it does seem sort of boring.

Oh. I did do a pg test last week in the end!! it was, of course, a BFN (otherwise I'd have been on here asap, of course)...whilst both the DDs have been fairly large BFNs initially (dd2 was the FAINTEST second line ever), i'm pretty sure this one was accurate - that taste has gone and I can drink a glass of wine now without an enormous hangover thank fuck

right. bored you enough. sorry! missed you all

Flisspaps · 15/09/2010 20:40

Sarah Grin at Rosie and nursery. Glad she?s settling in nicely. Brilliant on being dry too.

Valium You are not being a wuss, the thought of a train on my own with 1 DD to London is terrifying enough, never mind a flight by myself. You are BRAVE!

Pixie Hope that DD is no longer cross with you. You are not the world?s crappiest mum.

PD Well done on your discussions of the day entry :) Hope that happier/easier times are on the way.

Heckle SIX teeth? That?s fab!

Melk Congratulations on being able to drink wine Wink Hooray for teeth with you too!

Today has been quite eventful chez Fliss - internet was down for about 36 hours, so I could not ?mumsnet?access any of the sources I needed for my OU project and the man today said he didn?t know when it would be fixed (back on by 4pm, thank you very much Mr VM!), another tooth appeared this morning (and DD insists on biting with them when we try to put some gel on) AND she?s finally on the move Hmm making a beeline straight for the washing maidens, and the radiators albeit slowly and in a wonky sort of half-crawl half army-wriggle. She?s only just 6 months -really I was hoping it would be longer before she was crawling because it was handy being able to plonk her down and go for a wee knowing she?d still be there when I got back. Ah well, it?ll keep me fit running after her now Grin

PacificDogwood · 15/09/2010 21:09

Evening, ladies!

Teeth: Joe has two (bottom incisors), yet shows no interest in using them: still no success getting him to even try anything remotely 'solid' - I use that term losely; even yoghurt has been rejected with a look of total disgust on his face Confused.

He survived his 3 Shock jabs today with minimal crying, brave lad, but my lip wobbled... We went to the local BFing Support Group which is always nice and sociable. I am really quite sorry I won't be able to go in 3 weeks time when I am back to work.

Talking about work: I have been going in a couple of times a week recently to familiarise myself with the new computer system. Biscuit. The next time you see your GP and you get the feeling they are more interested in their PC screen than you and your silly, trivial problems - well, that is because they ARE. I cannot tell you how much I resent the intrusion of data collection in my clinical practice! I have decided (much like I recommend to people after major life events particularly bereavements) not to make any major lifestyle decisions for the next year, but if I still feel the way I do just now about my work, I Will Quit. You heard it first. It is a shame, I really enjoy what I consider my job, but not all the other crap that takes up 2/3 of my time. I realise, this is no different in lots of other professions, but gah ! We are also in the process of planning a new surgery building, so really a bad time to be jumping ship...

Soooo, is really nobody on this thread pregnant again yet?? It's been 6 months, ladies Grin!

Hi, Melk, nice to 'see' you. Hope you and yours are ok. Will Elk be asleep before you go to bed do you thing Grin?

Right, early night for me, night-night!

BusyMissIzzy · 15/09/2010 21:15

Melk Blush You know, you're in for a disappointment when we meet in RL Grin Ask Flip, rebeccad or PD, I'm very boring really.

sarah Wow, 2.5 stone! That's impressive, well done, you must feel great :)

Fliss glad you got your internet sorted. And I know what you mean about having to watch where you leave the LOs once they start moving; we've had to invest in a playpen now. Only for times when I need her to stay put mind, not for leaving her in for 20mins while I MN or anything. No, siree.

FlipFantasia · 15/09/2010 21:41

Evening ladies - have been trying to lurk but been pretty busy so this is just a quick post. Apologies for the lack of comprehensive shout outs!

Heckle six teeth - wow!

Sarah great news on Rosie and nursery (clever girl!) and on the weight loss Smile

MElk glad to hear you sounding more chipper..and yes, I fully agree about BMI Smile. And despite what BMI says she is in fact just as lovely in RL (and her daughter is super cute!). Sounds like Elk really is being a two year old! Hope she gets tired enough for bed soon.

PD the work changes do sound annoying, but waiting a year is A Good Idea.

Fliss glad your internet got sorted! Sounds like an eventful day.

Valium hoping your travel goes brilliantly and that you have a wonderful time in the States (I got married in the States, your trip makes me nostalgic Smile).

Pixie so sorry to hear your DDs 1 & 2 are lashing out like that. I can say that they definitely don't mean it (based on some of the horrible things I said to my own mum when I was an adolescent/teenager Blush). You are a wonderful mum and they do know that...

Smac and IWCAS hope you had a fun meet up! Very Envy

V impressed with all the babies who are on the move. My DS is a great sitter but is not a fan of tummy time so am not expecting mobility any time soon (which suits me!). And no teeth yet either. But he still manages to "bite" his food with his gums, it's very cute but also fascinating as he really is eating now (though his nappies, eeeeugh!).

We're off on holidays this Sat and this week has been fairly busy. I've been looking into setting up as a nappy advisor/agent (Smac if you're lurking, I may pick your brains via FB when I get the chance!). It looks like I may have the chance to do my first demo soon (gulp!) but I really want to find something that I can work flexibly around DS. Makes me so nervous though!

FlipFantasia · 15/09/2010 21:42

PS PD glad you're still posting now that you're a celeb WinkSmile. Great thread...

OK. I get it now... angry Pixie stuff. I can see why you're bothered. There're lots of people who are "X" and then sometimes "Xisreallyannoyedaboutthisthing" or "Xhashadherbaby" so I think it's fine for you to clarify!

Boa noite minhas senhoras (good evening ladies)
I didn't have much time to read the last posts so please forgive me.

WE've just arrived in Portugal. By miracle ds was lovely during the flight. My mum is seeing the doctor tomorrow and one of my friends is getting married on Saturday.
Hope everyone is well x

rebeccacad · 17/09/2010 07:55

Hello, hello

Just back from hols and checking in. I haven't read back yet but will do so today and post again.

Mallorca was beautiful and S loved the swimming in the sea. BLW came on a treat with her munchingon sardines, manchego cheese etc.

DH and I got to go out for a lovely dinner while our friends babysat.

But S stopped sleeping which rather spoiled things and I'm totally knackered. If you have a chance to check out my sleep thread that would be amazing. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/sleep/1043008-7-month-old-suddenly-stopped-sleeping-self-settling-getting-desperate

siamesecatwoman · 17/09/2010 10:19

Hi ladies
back from Corfu and I was waiting until I had caught up on sleep but thats never going to happen it seems - oour flight was delayed into the night on the way home and although DD was perfect and slept, i couldnt and then she got up for the day as normal at 7 and Id been in bed 2 hours. And then last night it was like she was possessed. She has never screamed at night until last night and she would not settle unless I was holding her. Im thinking its the fear of desertion thing, she eventually settled in my bed next to me.

DH has started working in Edinburgh during the week and that is not helping the exhausted thing either.. although it does mean Ill be in Edinburgh fairly frequently and hopefully will meet some March Mums? Train even goes through Berwick if someone is offering tea? (cough cough)

DD and I also have evil colds and tomorrow Im driving to Cornwall. I need to pack. I need to unpack from Greece

Sorry for lack of shout outs - I promise Im keeping up!
PS I love seeing weaning pics on FB - can people tell me what theyve been cooking? I need ideas..

PacificDogwood · 17/09/2010 12:33

Pixie, hope you are not angry today Wink!

evitas, best wishes for your mum. Hope you have a good stay with your folks.

siamese, sympathies on the cold front, we all had a stinker of a cold and all the precious BM did not prevent poor Joe from getting it too... Hope you are all better soon.
I am in the Central Belt and happy to brave Edingburgh (or meet at designer outlet in Livingston Wink?).

Joe had really good night after vaccs on Wednesday (woke only 1x), but screamed his head off between 9 and 11 last night Confused. He eventually settled in bed with me after a dose of Calpol. And he is sleeping in the pram in the garden just now... He was at the CM's this morning for 2 hours while I went to work (again) to try and familirise myself a bit more with the new software. I had a v honest but scary conversation with one of my colleagues (how they have all been at work from 8 til 8 every day for the last 3 months to try and not kill anybody stay on top of things) which is really not an option for me. How on earth can I even find the time to express?? And I need to be there for bedtime so no amount of additional childcare hours would make much of a difference. Apart from the small fact that I took a part-time job because I wanted to be available to my children at least some of the time... SadConfused.
Oh, and Joe refused FF from CM pointblank, gah! If he starts reverse cycling then I am doomed: I cannot possibly be up even MORE at night than I am anyway, gah!

This was your Public Broadcast Rant of the Day.
Have a nice day, all!

Arcadie · 17/09/2010 14:04

skid and PD What is this reverse cycling malarky? It sounds baaaaad!

OP posts:

OP posts:
ValiumtheConqueror · 17/09/2010 15:06

OMG someone shoot me now. Have just spent a couple of hours with my mother, the same mother with whom I shall be spending the best part of the next two weeks, not to mention an 8 hour plane journey, and I want to kill her. Or myself.

Still need to pack.....aggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

PacificDogwood · 17/09/2010 16:51

Tsk, families, who'd have them?? My mum has the exact same effect on me...

RKD, Kellymom has all the answers, as ever

Oh, and it's Flip's birthday? Congratulations and many happy returns Smile

angfirsttimer · 17/09/2010 20:06

Happy birthday flip

Reverse cycling !?? Oh no sounds awful! Ds waking more in night.......

Valium families! Nuf said! And breathe....

Siamese check out the BLW website and the thread on here there are some great ideas/recipes. My current faces are sugar free banana bread, sweet potato falafel and savoury muffins.

FlipFantasia · 17/09/2010 21:16

Thanks for birthday wishes Smile. Had a lovely day, including lunch at Leon's (my favourite chain) where DS enjoyed some meatballs and sweet potato falafel...which is good as DH gave me the Leon cookbook for my birthday so DS will be having a lot more Leon-inspired food!

Ang Envy at your own apple tree - we had one when we rented a house in Hampstead Garden Suburb and I still miss it years later!

Siamese another fan of savoury muffins here (google Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and savoury muffins and you should fine his Saturday Guardian recipes from a while back). DS loves them and they're so easy to make and great for lunch on the go. Good luck driving to Cornwall.

Rebecca sorry to hear of DD's sleep changes - hope you get advice on your other thread.

OK, got to go and pack for Portugal. I love holidays but I really hate packing (sigh).

I shall be sans internet while away so hope everyone has a great week and I look forward to catching up when I get back Smile

sunshinesarahandco · 18/09/2010 20:57

hello one and all just popping in to say hi, hope all is good with u all:)

PacificDogwood · 18/09/2010 21:14

Hi, all, we went to DSs Tae Kwon Do grading today - it was very emotional (I dissovled into sobs, snot and tears Blush) because DS2 was v reluctant to actually show his stuff, and they were all so nice to him, and he did so well, and I am so proud . I am officially a Pathetic Loon - nothing new there then. DH reaction to my tears was 'Are you pregnant?' ShockWink - eh, NO, it would be the 2nd Immaculate Conception ever recorded....

Anyhow, they both did well, we asked them what they would like to do as a 'reward' - so we had dinner at McDonald's... Must learn how to phrase these kind of questions differently Hmm. Joe got to hold a chip and wave it around and throw it to the ground unsucked (hey, I live in Scotland and feel obliged to live up to certain stereotypes Wink).

But seriously, he is utterly disinterested in anything other than what a certain part of my anatomy can provide. I know it'll come and I am not worried but I was kind of hoping he would be eating something by the time I returned to work!

I am so impressed with all your proper cooking, recipe books and celebrity chefs, and all.

Right, I need wine o'clock to start, it is late enough as it is.
Smile

MummyElk · 18/09/2010 21:33

...Speaking of Immaculate Conceptions....

I got my period today!! Grin i know, group moan, but you knew really i wasn't pg, despite the PixieStirUp... Am slightly surprised considering I'm still massively bfing give or take exclusively (but i did remember IWCAS and her surprise so hey, am lucky to get to 6 months)

not much to add, have lurked and failed to post but tonight for the first time we got both down pretty much fairly easily (it's all relative i suppose) and i've actually eaten a proper meal. so it's a start.

had lots to say but can't now remember it.

Mostly Tonight, I am Looking Forward to the MMMMs Grin

and Grin at emotionalPD. love it

should we do a sweepstake on Who Becomes Pg First????!!!!

Happy bday flip
harrumpf to valium
sigh at rebeccacad and siamese at holiday non sleepies
can some one clarify about the pixieRant i didnt' get a chance to find said thread
and RKD come on, my love, more posting, we like the lurking but we like to hear what Simeon is up to too!!

speaking of which. T has two teeth, goes all starry when plied with Calpol (DH did it not me!!! [nonguilty emoticon]) and LOVES her sling and her mummy (of course Smile) and can quite happily stay on her tummy and work her way backwards... BUT NOT CRAWL BMI?!!!!) amazing stuff.

better spend some evening with DH despite the period (more harrumpf)

Sariska · 18/09/2010 21:59

Have also been lurking - and can't actually remember when I last posted. Probably only a day or so ago but it feels like ages.

Chips. Check. Took DD out for lunch yesterday. It was a tapas bar - and very good tapas, too - and so I plied her with bits of tortilla espanola, various veg and salad bits. DH, meanwhile, gave her a chip from his "Gourmet Burger". Ho hum.

Teeth. Check. We finally have two. Yayyy!!!

MMMMs. Really looking forward to the London one. Would v. much like to come to the York one too but am away both the weekend before and the weekend after so am just not sure. Plus would have toddler childcare issues. Think I will probably have to enjoy it vicariously through the FB photos.

Non-sleeping babies. Lots of sympathy for the afflicted (parents). Mine is - touch wood - doing OKish if we ignore the Very Early Starts (I am trying hard to forget that only a month ago she was happy to sleep til 8), the fact that she is so far off self-settling it's just not true and the fact that some nights she is still expecting milk every 2 hours. They all get there in the end, right?

Crawling: DD is trying very hard indeed. She gets up onto all fours and kind of rocks back and forwards in an effort to move. Sometimes she's inadvertently gone backwards but mostly she gets where she wants by rolling or hauling herself forward on convenient pieces of furniture / ankles. She also spends remarkably long periods of time on her tummy staring in absorbed interest at her brother's brio trainset. (NB: I'm sure I sound really sad but a good brio trainset is really making my early mornings bearable - that is as long as I can convince DS to let me build the track to my specifications Grin).

Happy Birthday for yesterday, Flip. You reminded me that the Leon near my work (the one on Ludgate Circus, if anyone knows it) is one reason to look forward to my (temporary?) return sometime next year.

...which brings me on to Pacific. I'm rather in awe of you planning to return to work when DS4's sleeping is still so...er...unstructured. I hope the new computer systems aren't as hideous as they sound - for your sake and that of your patients!

OK, enough waffle from me - even though I know that as soon as I hit "Post Message" I'll remember at least 3 things I meant to write.

Happy wine quaffing everyone. Cheers!
