Welcome to the latest thread for mums of babies born in March ( and a few in Feb and one in April!).

Come on in. Find out who'll be pg next and who's weaning onto what.

siamese LOL at 'getting myself ready for Hugh'! Does that involve putting on some lipstick and perfume? Wink
BLW is a bit stop start as you are giving them the choice. DD1 wasn't keen on breakfast as she guzzled so much milk in the night so for us that was the last meal we introduced. DD2 however guzzles all night but seems quite keen on breakfast. She rarely has lunch though and sometimes has an evening meal with us but if she is too tired then I don't even bother offering as it is just a waste of time. If she is perky in the afternoon I might give her some fruit or if I'm eating something appropriate not chocolate digestives I might give her a taste of that whatever the time of day. Babies this age don't need 3 set meals a day, they don't need savoury and pudding either. Just offer some food when it suits you/the baby seems interested, don't stress and keep up the milk
Still no crawling here and absolutely miles away from pulling herself up thank goodness

sunshinesarahandco · 14/10/2010 21:37

Evenin'

This is the 5th post that I have written since the southern MMMM. Unfortunately I never actually managed to submit any Blush.

Melk I hope your DB sorts his feelings out.

Scooby Well on the 7 hours sleep. I hope you get into a nice routine that works for all of you soon.

Evitas i LOVE feijoada. Can you send me over a portion? Good luck with your presentation, you will be brilliant. And I don't think it's just a first time mother thing, feeling anxious about leaving your DS.

Siamese Thanks! I was looking at yours today as well. I especially love the axe picture.

Pixie Commiserations Congrats on Ophelia's crawling.

DrSkid I can hear the noise through the thread walls. I bet you are glad when bedtime comes around!

Sarah It sounds like your dr is not overly worried but just wants to get things checked out just in case. I hope all turns out ok.

I am not liking my DD very much at the moment. She has suddenly become quite violent towards her little brother. She puts one finger in his eye socket and her thumb in his mouth and then pulls and pinches. I am actually worried that she will do him permanent harm. Yesterday she pulled his head up by his hair. This is just so unlike her though. She has never been anything but gentle and sweet to him. I think I might have a talk with her teacher tomorrow and see if anything is going on at school.

DH is out tonight with colleagues. I don't really mind it but I feel a bit Angry that he seems to be going out regularly and I haven't had a night out since DS was born. And I can't really because DS is refusing the bottle still. I have accepted the Gartner job and will be starting on the 8th of November so he will have to take a bottle then. I will be going to the US for a week's training at the beginning of December. Exciting! A whole week of sleep!!!

Night night!

P.S. Bluey - Thanks for the very efficient route marching guiding through London!

PacificWerewolf · 14/10/2010 22:19

Evening, ladies, curry was yum, thanks for asking; we had a 2nd dinner out of it tonight Grin. How on earth anybody eats what we had (2 main courses with rice + 1 naan) in one sitting is beyond me! And I can eat...Blush.

Witchy, what light-and-sound contracption have you got? I am looking for something that will project stars around the room but have not found anything convincing.

ang, donttry and all other BLWers: I, for one, do not think that what and how you feed a baby makes one iota of a difference on how well they sleep (upset tummy excepting, of course Wink). I used to offer Joe a bit of FF in the evening after he got fed up of the boob which helped to get him to sleep quicker but he still woke after 1 1/2 to 2 hours for a BF. And then 2hourly throughout the night. He has now taken to puree, but still has only about 1-2 'meals'/day, but his sleeping is so much better. I think he has currently no teeth coming, he has learnt to sit and is much busier during the day and generally he has become more 'grown-up': participating in what's going on and being more aware. And with that maturity comes a better sleep maturity, I think anyway. I hope it improves for you all really quickly. And no doubt, having typed this, I am now in for a terrible night Grin.

donttry, I am with you on your thoughts about Tory Country SadAngry.

ang, gawn, tell us your business idea - we won't tell, honest Wink.

smac and anybody else who is buying books because I mentioned them Blush: I hope you like them. I don't like/agree with every single statement in them, but overall they both made me feel better (apart from where TPOB made me really, really angry, grrr!).

Flip and everybody with standing babies (I cannot even contemplate crawling Shock): wow! Amazing how they change and develop; I love it Smile.

scooby, well done on the sleep front. You sound SO much better. Long may it continue!!

IWCAS, how is Ramsay? And BMI's Isobel? Joe seems to be doing better since he's discovered sneezing copious amounts of snot out of his sinuses/nose/brain: where is it all coming from??

evitas, I am so impressed you are actually using your brain! I ment to say, I did not manage to write up my MD even before I had DCs Blush. So well done for sticking to it. Good luck with your presentation. And yum at your Brasilien dinner, mmmh!

Pixie, gosh, another crawler. I am sure Genevieve will be following her sister soon - aw, that image is just too cute for words . And you made it through another day.

Melk, how's your brother doing? Is trip on or off? Hope you are doing ok.

siamese, I have never used an amber necklace with any of mine, but have very good friends who all swear by them, so worth a shot, I think. Why oh why have I not considered that before??

Arcadie, how is your DH? And yep, reswaddle young Sim - sounds like you've not got much to lose. At worst if it does not make a difference, you just unwrap him again.
I hope your parents are a help to you - I know mine are, but manage to be hard work at the same time Confused...

DrSkid, Grin at your noisy lot! I know what you mean: cute, but makes your brain hurt!

Hi, sarah, hope your breast is ok and good luck to poor Henry. He'll probably amaze you how easily he sails through the op while you are a nervous wreck Grin!

We are off to holiday bootcamp Centreparcs tomorrow: I am not that keen anymore (Crieff Hydro has spoilt me Grin), but the boys will have fun so it'll be ok for me too. Might even get a back massage .

Right, off to bed, still have some packing to do (part of the reason I am not that taken with going away for a weekend: packing for 2 nights is no different from packing for 3 weeks Hmm).

Didn't want anybody to feel left out WinkGrin.

Must. Go. To. Bed.

SmacsGotABigWitchyWart · 14/10/2010 23:01

enjoy Centre Parcs pacific even if it's not where you want to be at least it's a break from the daily humdrum of life and work.
It wasn't specifically your recommendations. I've seen 'What Mothers Do' and the 'How to Talk...' come up quite a few times on MN threads so added them to an Amazon order, jut haven't quite managed to read them yet.

scooby26 · 15/10/2010 03:52

Morning- vvv quick note to say been lurking but not much time to post. Can thoroughly recommend going back to work- increases the sanity levels - even nightshift!!! Off to bed before a morning musical minis- today has to be the photo day doesn't it!!!! Sorry for no shout outs - hope you understand x

angfirsttimer · 15/10/2010 08:45

Will post properly later, have been lurking as have had difficult couple of days with ds, it must be teething he is so unsettled, but no sign of the toothy pegs yet!

Just wanted to say though that much as I would love to be mysterious and imaginative enough to come up with a secret new product idea it was not me it was don'ttry

ValiumtheConqueror · 15/10/2010 09:07

Gah- how do you turn off a two-year-old? I can't find the manual..........

DizziGhoul · 15/10/2010 09:20

If you find out how Valium, pass on the secret.

WitchyFlisspaps · 15/10/2010 09:43

Siamese will post some more pics of the garden later now that Luke's gone and taken the digger with him. The Pile of Doom is here until half term though, and it's not having grass seed put down until spring because the birds will just eat it all now.

Only a quick post anyway today, going to hit the shops to buy some newborn baby girl stuff as SIL had a little girl at 2.09am. She rang MIL at 12.30am in tears with contractions, MIL told her to get to hospital (SIL thought she should wait because everyone had said not to go at the first pain!) and then she didn't have time for any pain relief when she got there. Nice present for her too methinks! Grin

Arcadie, could you have a look here please? We need local knowledge for York meet-up Smile.

We are in the throws of getting everybody in the car, so no shout-outs. I am still exhausted by last night's post Wink - or was it the rubbish night we had Hmm??

Sorry about the business idea mix-up, ang and donttry - I am well known on MN for my knack to get posters mixed-up Blush.

Valium, you'd be billionaire virtually overnight if you found the Toddler Off Switch Grin.

Byieeee!!

evitas · 15/10/2010 11:31

< evitas enters on MN feeling 3kg heavier after yesterday's dinner>

Pixie Crawling?! Well done :)

DrSki I'm still laughing at you DC conversation. How cute!

Flip hope you've enjoyed your time alone

Sunshine good luck for your appointment and Harry's

Dizzi can you send me your address - I have a portion of feijoada for you :) Can I be nosy and ask how do you know Feijoada? Sorry to hear about your DD, but I don't have any advice/clue on what to do. A week in US sounds great!

PW enjoy the capping. Tomorrow we'll go to Loch Lomond :)

Scoony Glad you are enjoying work :)

Fliss Congratulations!

Ang Hope your DS gets better.

BMI IWCAS how are you and your babies?

RKD miss you

DS is not eating much at the moment... I hope is just another phase. I have Annabel karmel's book and I've following some of the recipes and I found them very tasty!
Ok, he's awake
x

DizziGhoul · 15/10/2010 12:34

Evitas I have several Portuguese and Brazilian friends. One of them makes a pretty good feijoada. I also did Capoeira in a previous house when I was younger and we went to Brazil on our honeymoon last year. Hmmmm, i want to go again!

Sariska · 15/10/2010 20:03

Grrrr, tonight was the night when dd was going to move out of the hammock in our room into the cot in her room. More at dh's instigation than mine, grrrr. Anyway, she hadn't read the script. Much outraged crying later she's now being overtired and grumpy in the living room. I was too tired and hungry to try any longer, not to mention fearful of waking ds in the next room.

I don't get it. DS, the really awful sleeper of the family, made the transition easily. Donttry, how did it go with your DD? Was it as easy as I think I intimated it would be in your thread on the topic?

Sorry for self-absorbed post.

oh iwcas sounds terrible, you poor thing, sending as many sleepy vibes as I can your way

evitas good luck with the paper and presentation

Smac and everyone else, thanks for the reassurance re BLW. I have been getting paranoid about giving him meals, but am more relaxed now that it is ok just to give him food as and when he seems in the right mood rather than trying to get him to eat to some sort of pattern. I had been trying to do food three times a day, but today only did it twice and he ate much more.

arcadie cant see any reason not to swaddle again if your DS will tolerate it

pixie wow to O crawling and G on the way, double the trouble!!

sarah hope all ok at the docs for you and Harry

Grin at the toddler off switch, havent got a toddler yet but can imagine why one would be ideal!

scooby hurrah for your lie in

So DS still being tricky, it has to be teeth as today has been a droolathon and he has had very red cheeks. The baby 'crack' aka teething granules have appeared to do the trick for his nap times today. Still no sign of the bloody teeth though.

I went into London yesterday to meet a childless friend in the city for lunch. I decided to feed DS before I met up with her so tried to find a starbucks that wasnt packed, I couldnt so ended up trying to feed him in the middle of Moorgate Starbucks. He wouldn't latch and then kept pulling off and then pulled off so vigorously that he bashed the table and sent my coffee flying thus drawing major attention to me and my exposed boobie!!! I am never doing that again it was horrendous!!! We had a nice lunch though despite the strange looks for bringing a child into a restaurant mid week in the City and then letting said child eat from his mums plate!!

Sorry to everyone I have missed

Have a lovely evening all.

scooby26 · 15/10/2010 21:23

Evening

Just a quick note to say IWCAS i feel your pain. I was there last week. Neither of us did go out of the winjdow but it was close!! This week much better so postive thoughts an dmuch sleep being sent over to you xx

siamesecatwoman · 15/10/2010 21:28

ang exactly! Since Smac posted I have felt loads more relaxed about the blw - hadn't realised it was working me up so much - and have given up on 3 meals and just offered brekkie and some snacks which have been way more successful :)
< offers Smac a choccie biccie and the clever stick for good advice>

Sorry got to go to bed now, DDs sleep sucks at the mo

SmacsGotABigWitchyWart · 15/10/2010 22:21

I'm pissed off with DH but it did mean that I came through to the kitchen to sulk make a point. I closed down MN, only kept half an eye on FB and got a whole load of accounts done so quite a productive night.
DD1 has started Meithrin (Welsh nursery school) she is going 2 mornings a week and it is across town and starts at 9am. OMG!!!! I don't know how working Mums manage to get out the house in time or Mums on the school run with younger DC to sort out too. We never leave the house before 9am normally, it's a whole different world out there. I am looking forward to a long lie tomorrow - well not technically a long lie but a relaxed breakfast in our PJs and a bit of telly rather than a military operation!
laptop about to run out of juice now so better dash.
Night night all and I hope we all get some sleep.
PS tooblessed I admire your determination if you have truly switched off MN and are studying hard. GL with the exams and come back and see us soon!
