Welcome to the latest thread for mums of babies born in March ( and a few in Feb and one in April!).

Come on in. Find out who'll be pg next and who's weaning onto what.

Ang, YADNBU; men are from another planted from a galaxy far, far away and have totally different priorities, grrrr!

scooby, oh no, childcare falling through is one the biggest disasters that can befall a working mother. I hope you can sort something out. NOT what you need just now, is it Sad?

anna, I am glad you are back into the fold Smile.

I am really enjoying feeding Joe some slop now as he actually opens his mouth and swallows it Grin ('slop' is word for all purees stollen from a friend from NZ who had a bit of a crisis when she froze lots of lovingly prepared homemade purees, but did not label anything and then could only refer to 'orange slop' and 'green slop' Grin).
He is also producing nice (not!) mature poos, but sleep.... naw, sleep is overrated, who needs sleep... Although he did go back to sleep this morning at 6am after we HAD to do a nappy change (the smell, the smell ) just lying next to me without the help of boobies! Mind you that was after he had fed at 8pm, 11pm, 2am, 4am, 5am, 5.30am.... . He slept better last week after having been to the childminder and having to scream a bit more - maybe that's what he needs SadConfused.

He is currently asleep on the floor (on sheepskin on playmat, before anybody calls SW) as I had put him down to unfold the pram to go out and he stayes asleep Shock. It has been over an hour!

Hey ho, sunny day here today, off to the cinema to see Toystory3 with the big boys later.
Smile

PacificWerewolf · 11/10/2010 12:54

And now he's woken up!

No time to post I'm afraid but didn't want Pixie's comment to go unanswered. Sweet you, I'm so sorry it feels so rotten. Whatever we can do to cheer you up on here we'll try. And every day is a small hurdle to get over before next weekend. See, Monday's already gone! Only, what, four more sleeps? And there's Single Father and Spooks to watch on iplayer - that's some good evening telly right there!

Arcadie · 11/10/2010 22:40

AND... you can busy yourself dreaming up some amusing and pithy new thread titles. Where are we up to... crawling? Weaning? Teething? smac's & evitas are probably potty training! There's some material in there for you!

We love you Pixie, we do... Hang on in there.

My asthma seems to be back, which is a real pain. It happened around this time after I'd had DD, too. Thirty something years and it has to come back now. Grrr. I just hope DC's don't have it and that I can get it back under control soon.

Saw a friend's 10 week old today - he was 7 weeks prem because he wasn't growing properly so he's only just birth sized. Soooo tiny, I couldn't believe ours were ever that small!

Night all, sleep vibes to the babies!

scooby26 · 11/10/2010 23:31

Evening all- quick message from work just to say I'm here and surviving. DS fast asleep with DH waiting for me to plod in at 3am and try not to wake them!

PIXIE- go girl- good positive thinking x

angfirsttimer · 12/10/2010 08:50

pixie you have coped brilliantly and you will cope brilliantly again. Hugs.

scooby hope you managed to creep in without waking ds, and that you got some decent sleep

bluey rubbish about asthma. Hope you get it sorted.

tooblessed good luck with study

iwcas hope ds feeling better and that you are getting some rest too

Anna good to see you back on the thread.

Took ds to the zoo yesterday, he typically slept through all the big African animals, but did enjoy the chimps and the penguins! Was with a group of friends who purée feed and had a bit of a wobble about blw as ds was playing with his lunch when one of the other babies nicked his sandwich and gobbled it up. After having eaten her jar of purée!
Please remind me fellow blw that I haven't made a mistake in not pureeing!

Had forgiven dh, just, he did cook dinner on Sunday, but now grumpy with him again as he had left last nights washing up for me to do. Grrr

Right must get up and do useful things while ds asleep.

Waves to everyone else x

evitas · 12/10/2010 11:14

Pixie hugs! We love you too :)

Arcadie potty training?! We still behind some milestones... desperate to crawl but not there yet :)

Scooby How are you?

Bluey Hope you get better soon.

TooBlessed good luck. I'll be thinking of you
IWCAS poor baby! Hope he gets better soon and that you manage to rest.

ang we have a purée fed baby, but I'm always amazed by BLW babies and their capacity of grabbing and eating so well. Sometimes I wonder if I'm doing the right choice about puréeing almost everything Hmm

If you want to see DS giggling, look here

Need to clean the kitchen while he's asleep.
x

BusyMissIzzy · 12/10/2010 13:10

That video is very cute evitas. Baby giggles make everything better, don't they?

Pixie more hugs for you. I think the first couple of days will be the hardest again. At least this time you know, rationally, that you can manage. Hopefully that helps, on some level.

MummyElk are you back from London yet? You big MN sleb you. And have you decided about Oz?

Pacific (like the namechange Grin), glad to hear Joe is now enjoying some slop. I've been trying to move Isobel onto 'chunkier' purees, but it makes her gag. And resulted in a spectacular projectile vomit the other day too. I'm not sure whether to stick to smoother purees for a while, or try introducing texture more gradually, or just persevere with the chunky stuff until she gets used to it (I can only mop the floor and hose down the highchair so many times before my patience wears thin). How is work going btw?

ang glad things are a bit better with you and DH. And the zoo sounds like fun :)

TooBlessed if you're still lurking, good luck with the studying.

iwcas hope R is recoveing from his chest and ear infections, poor thing.

scooby hope you're feeling better about things and that work is going ok.

Bluey hope you get the asthma under control soon. That can't be conducive to marathon training (and vice versa), surely?

We have our first tooth here! It's been on the way for a while, but after a few nights of waking up 3-4 times it's finally popped through. I'm guessing the one next to it will follow shortly (they usually show up in pairs, don't they?). We've also had a cold (DH had it first, then Isobel, now me), so I feel a bit like I've done nothing but mop up dribble and snot for the past week or so. Ah well.

P.S. I've been trying to think of a Halloween namechange. Any ideas? ScaryMissIzzy? BattyMissIzzy? See, my ideas are rubbish Blush

PacificWerewolf · 12/10/2010 13:54

Hi, all!

Good luck with studies and exam, TooBlessed. If you are reading this: what are you doing here? Get back to revising, NOW!! WinkGrin

scooby, glad to hear you are hanging in there Smile. Be kind to yourself, won't you.

bluey, asthma, boo hiss! I hope you get it under control quickly.
Joe has had a really horrible cough for about 6 weeks with that awful crickle at the end of breathing out - I think he is heading the same way as his asthmatic brother DS2.

Hugs to Pixie Sad. Is this going to be the pattern now: your DH at home every couple of weekends until you all move? You better keep yourself busy. Hopefully, with time, you will get a bit more used to being on your own .

IWCAS, I really wish I'd read 'TPOB' before I had DS1 - it would have made many things so much easier for me. And on a global scale: grrrrrr Angry. I am also in theory boycotting Nestle and in practice buying their products Blush. And what formula do I have in the house (for when Joe is at the CM's)? Aptamil Blush. And why? Because it was a brand I was familiar with from Germany... Who says brainwashing marketing/advertising does not work?!

We are just back from ToyStory3; it was very good. Had me in tears about Andy going off to college and his mother looking at his empty room (Blush again) and DS1 was howling in distress about some of the toys' misadventure - we almost had to leave! But that's just the sensitive soul he is; his brute of a younger brother was ok Grin.

Off to soft play later to meet a friend. I had started this post before the cinema, so no doubt will have missed loads of you.

PacificWerewolf · 12/10/2010 14:00

Oh, ment to say, IWCAS, sympathies on Ramsay's chest/ear infection. I think ear infections are just the worst thing for LOs, miserable, painful, fever - gah! Hopefully the antibiotic will kick in quickly. If you are not giving it already, Ibuprofen helps the pain of sore ears a lot.

BMI, I have always done a mixture of purees and fingerfoods and just kind of follow their leads. Gagging is not a bad thing, projectile vomiting OTOH is too much of a mess to need to provoke - I am with you on that one. You could just back off for a week and then try chunky stuff again?
I love the concept of BLW but enjoy making purees too much to actually do it Grin.

Right, baba crying, wants boobie Smile.

annamama · 12/10/2010 15:28

BMI - congrats on the tooth! We had same issue with DD1, think we just stuck with the smooth purees for a bit longer and then kept trying chunks every once in a while and finally it was ok. No rush... I'm afraid your Izzy is too cute to have a scary name associated with her! :)

Pixie - I know how you feel, I have been on my own for a month twice and it's so awful. All you can do is try to stay sane and hang in there. Thinking of you.

Evitas - desperate to crawl? Typical for the mother of a Precious First Born... Grin I've been there... Don't worry, whether he crawls now or in a few months will not make any difference in the long run, he might still be an elite gymnast or whatever!

We took Isabelle to the doctor today to have her belly button hernia checked and the doc told us what we thought he would, to do nothing and hopefully it will fix itself within a year or so.

annamama · 12/10/2010 15:30

Oh and if anyone with older kids are interested in Thomas Land, you can see it in my blog here

I am!

Couldn't give a stuff about the overpaid underachieving men in shorts on the tv!

How are you pixie? Hope you have lots planned for the next few (note I say few, he will be back before you know it) days until your dh comes back?

So what are you going to call our new thread then? I was going to suggest some Xmas countdown related title but given how quickly we get to 1000 posts we will no doubt have another three threads before then?

Wonder if we are one of the more prolific P-N groups?!

angfirsttimer · 12/10/2010 20:36

Ooh title idea!

"and they're off - time to babyproof these babies are on the move"

Feel free to pat me on the head and say well done dear whilst dismissing as being lame!!

I'm just ducking my head in; I had grand plans to come and spill the beans on the MMMM but we had friends for the weekend and then, then folks, I was struck down with what can only be described as an 'evil virus'. Those of you who have seen my FB status will know that I have formed a strong bond with my loo (which never happened when pg because I didn't get morning sickness) Thankfully it seems only to have lasted 24 hours so both Bella and I are recovering....

all of which means I feel like I have lost a day, if not a week, so have no idea how you all are, though Anna did fill me in a bit when we were over trashing her lovely home for tea earlier.

Baby news here: Bella climbed up two stairs at the weekend, so we've been putting up stairgates frantically. She's still not a tooth in her head but chews on everything and is forever eating the bloody dogfood, not to mention anything that is left on the floor. I'd forgotten what it was like to not be able to get anything done because you have to keep a very close eye on the smiley crawley. She's also hit the 7 month clingy phase which means I am the only one who can put her to bed, soothe her pain, do anything for her etc. I just thought those of you who are pretty exhausted by your babies (and God knows I am was) would be pleased to hear that there will come a point where they will need you Grin

Other than that, life goes on, striding irrevocably towards Christmas by way of Halloween and my birthday. I'm so sorry for those of you who are feeling blue- I feel your pain. If you are vaguely in any doubt, do seek help, in whatever form makes you comfortable (but I can totally recommend the drugs Grin)
Pixie- you are doing a fab job, and the mums here have totally got your back by the looks of it
BMI- great news that the tooth is finally here.
Evitas- that's some supercute baby action!
MMMMmums- it was sooo good to meet you all. I'm sorry I didn't get to chat to you all. I think perhaps next time we should rent a softplay centre so the kids can crawl around/sit happily playing whilst the mummies chat happily Grin

PacificWerewolf · 12/10/2010 20:49

I'm here too

valium, Shock at Bella climbing a couple of steps, my Lord!! Joe can just about faceplant himself from where he was sitting and rolls Grin. And glad you are feeling better >

Pixie, chores is good; at least you will feel all good about your achievement when you get them all done Wink.

ang, I like the new thread title and certainly cannot think of a superior one Smile.

Soft play was manic fun. Both DS1 and 2 went down the vertical slide; I was very impressed, not sure I would have been as brave....
