Welcome to the latest thread for mums of babies born in March ( and a few in Feb and one in April!).

Come on in. Find out who'll be pg next and who's weaning onto what.

Hi. Just come out the otherside of a terrible weekend with DD. She wouldnt sleep at night or stop screaming at the slightest thing, had a temperature, ate even less solids than normal, fell asleep at the drop of a hat.. It was very worrying ( of course it was the weekend!) spoke to NHS direct, my (GP) dad.. And then she woke up fine and full of beans yesterday and today I found 2 teeth., although I really hope it wasn't the teeth that caused all the drama- don't fancy doing that again..

ang had a blw wobble here too but reread some of the book which reminded me 7 Months really isn't that long to have been going.. Smac how long was it before DD1 'got it'?

pixie hope you are feeling more positive about this break this time? I always think of the things I enjoy doing without DH when I have to drop him at the train station.. Eating chocolate without sharing, not having to get things for him that he can't see that are In Front Of Him!!! And of course having the bed to myself with no one snoring nx to me :)

pacific and iwcas you've inspired me to finish my copy of the politics of bf. I had got distracted by a plethora of sleb autobiographies!
Good luck with exams tooblessed.
Melk -are you going to Oz?
Scooby how w as last night?

hecklephone · 12/10/2010 20:54

Just a quick post from me, am finally enjoying some baby-detached time as dd2 has a cold and I think is teething, leading to an awful night last night where she struggled to breathe comfortably through her nose and I ended up having to sleep for a few hours on the sofa with her propped upright on my shoulder...I think I saw every hour on the clock Hmm. Poor wee thing, it's her first proper cold and I feel sorry for her wee runny nose Sad.

She did well at my parents house over the weekend though and managed a couple of longer stints in the evening when I wasn't actually up and down like a yoyo!

Part 2 to follow -still on iPhone (I miss my laptop!)

Oh, baby colds are just rotten! I wonder who is back to snot-sucking... NO, don't tell me, please!!

hecklephone · 12/10/2010 21:18

The sum total of dh's weekend alone was - playing golf, painting the bathroom ceiling, getting drunk, falling out with a friend. Do you see the problem? NO TIDYING UP Angry. I know IABU cos he did do a good job in the bathroom, but its SO frustrating to come back home and see dishes which were there before we left and a living room carpet which is practically crunchy!! Gah! I especially know IABU because I would miss him if, like pixie, he was not around much of the week. Sorry it's crap again pixie but you're so strong and you're going to get through this fine, I'm sure.

Sorry no room for proper shout outs but off the top of my head:

Good thread title ang

Sorry R has an ear infection iwcas

scooby really glad you're surviving work and hoping you're feeling more positive in general

Work - yikes, waiting to hear, but I could be starting in a month and I have NO childcare! Shock

melk what's the deal with oz?? I'm v interested cos dh's cousin is looking for our hol dates for 2012 so they can set the date - I may be facing the journey with a 6 yo and a 2 yo?!?
Right, really gotta go and make the most of baby-free time. Laters.

angfirsttimer · 12/10/2010 21:22

God the football is STILL on!

I hate baby colds too you just want them to be able to have a good blow! Karvol on a flannel in his cot seems to help.

siamese glad your DD is better. Sure there will be no stopping her on the eating front now there are gnashers in there!

DS not got any teeth yet, but have been wondering how the hell you are supposed to brush a 7 MO's teeth? He wont even open his mouth to let me try to feel his gums, cant imagine trying to get a brush in there!

iwcas glad he has made friends with the boobies again. The leapfrog activity centre is an excellent baby sitter I find!

Sariska · 12/10/2010 21:25

Oh dear, too much illness on the thread Sad. Pixie, Valium, glad you're feeling better. Siamese, yes, let's hope it wasn't teeth that upset C; there are too many more to come for that. Heckle, sounds like a grim night for you both; here's hoping tonight is better.

I like your thread title, ang. Am certainly having to babyproof here. DD is moving at a rate of knots - especially if I dare to leave the room. She is also trying hard to pull herself to standing. DS is having to defend his favourite toys (mostly various vehicles) and tries hard to divert her attention with some carefully chosen wooden animals but she is a determined little thing and makes a beeline for whatever she fancies when she fancies.

Sariska · 12/10/2010 21:29

Didn't mean to miss the ear infection, IWCAS. Poor R. They really are horrible. But Envy of your leapfrog activity station.

I'm sure I've sympathised before Heckle but I sympathise again on the DH-housework front. I guess they just have different priorities. From another planet.

PacificWerewolf · 12/10/2010 21:34

We have a kind of rubber 'toothbrush' for Joe that is double ended and that I simply give him to chew on. I was just trying to find on the Boots website, but can't Blush. I am sure we got it from Boots in the teething department IYKWIM. It just gets them used to having something stuck in their mouths. I brush his 4 teeth occasionally, but am really not that bothered as he has milk overnight anyway, so what's the point?! Not worth the hassle IMO, and they take to it soon enough with gently force persuasion Wink!

And I want an activity station

Grin at DS defending his toys Sariska! Does DD know how to go from all fours back to sitting? (or anyone else with a mobile LO?) DD crawls around then goes into skydiving and gets frustrated she can't sit up/ use both hands for chewing speakerwire ang I was planning on just wiping these teeth with a cloth until she's a bit more compliant!
Heckle I agree with pacific that what we need is wives. I wonder if I cloned myself would I have an easier life or would I hate my clone self?! Certainly things would be done to my standards!
I shouldn't be writing this down because it will jinx it but Dd slept 6pm to 12pm then till 5.30am to 8am this morning. That is the first time I've slept 5 hours in 7 months. Unfortunatly it actually made me feel more tired!!

siamese, wow at your DD's sleep - I am very Envy. Long may it continue!

My 2 older ones find their toddler brother very annoying on the toy stealing/destroying front and I have already warned them to get used to the thought that Joe will be no better as soon as he is mobile Grin. They are demanding a bolt for their bedroom door Shock!! Not likely to happen...

Oh, I am sure I could not stand my clone - I think what I need are fairies, actually Wink. They come at night and do all the necessary

Now I can sleep

Evening/ or morning? Just in from work - late due to 'demands' sods law. No childcare today so up for the day when DS decides. Who's betting 6am- 2hrs and 13m from now??? Off to bed- proper update and read back later. Xxxx

Well no suprise that after two days of post 7am wakes (caused by restarting a ten pm btle in desperation) ds decided 6.15am was better today. Luckily for me DH got in very quickly from his slumber in the spare room and got him back to sleep. He couldn't get him back in his cot though- every time he tried, he woke. So at 7.10 DH had to give up to go to work thus after 3hrs sleep my day has started. Will I make it to tonight at 2.30am and safely drive home from work?? Oh the challenge of it. On a positive- I am enjoying the normaility of work. Although it's challenging working nights, a new job, new staff and baby!

scooby26 · 13/10/2010 09:01

Iwcas - hope Ramsay feeling better.
Ang- good thread title!

Oh scooby you are superhuman! Pixie is right is there not a neighbour or other local mum who could help you just to get a couple of hours kip? If they knew how little sleep you were having to survive on I am sure they would be queuing at the door to help you, we all would be if we were local.

Re thread title thanks for the positive response to my suggestion! I haven't got a hope of setting up a new thread [IT illiteracy emoticon] especially on an iPhone, so someone else will have to do the honours!

scooby26 · 13/10/2010 09:36

I'll try and sleep at lunchtime when he has 90m and if necessary DH will have to do his bit at teatime and I could grab an hour then. My parents are doing tomorrow and should have done today but they were invited out lastnight (arranged after agreeing to have DS!) a celebratory retirement dinner and hotel stay by his employer and accepted without any care for my childcare- the cheek of it Wink
