Welcome to the latest thread for mums of babies born in March ( and a few in Feb and one in April!).

Come on in. Find out who'll be pg next and who's weaning onto what.

There, there, Smac >

Melk, go to Oz, your brother will love you even more for it and young babies travel more easily than toddlers.

Arcadie, hope MrArcadie will get on ok.

Toostressed, well done for booking smear.
I am Blush that I forgot who is going tomorrow, but Do Go

Pixie, only one more sleep Smile.

scooby, exciting job

Well, I have survived the first 2 days and so has everybody else. I am so far not aware of having killed anybody made any major mistakes, but time will tell. IT system is a total b*&^%$&, but hey ho!
Joe had the Worst Night Ever before my Day1 (awake and crying every half hour, I kid you not, until 5am when he fell asleep and I had to wake him to go Biscuit), but tooth No4 has popped through and he went to be without a wimper Shock!! Apparently there is a fair bit of crying going on at the CM's Sad but hopefully he will get used to it.
I popped in for a nice BF middayish (I'd rather feed Joe than be connected to horrid pump while I do my mail Hmm) and that was enough until I fed him again after 6pm. As long as he still feeds 3-5x/night, I am hoping that will be enough to keep my supply going. I am SO glad that I chose to find a CM near my work rather than near home (we still lived in Glasgow at that point) 7 years ago Smile.

Well, ladies, have lots of fun tomorrow (not if you are having a smear, enjoying that too much would just be creepy and weird Wink), at the meet-up, I mean. I am absurdly excited about the Scottish one!

Smile
sunshinesarahandco · 06/10/2010 21:54

pd glas work has been ok and Joe seems happyish!

Elliott has cut 4 top teeth in the last few days and is quite unsettled:(

got 100% on my first cleaning audit at work since being back and am quite happy about it, but i am shattered so night all x

SmacsGonePotty · 06/10/2010 21:59

it was on FB so I don't expect you to understand pacific and it's a Quinny thing and you don't like them love McLarens so I doubly don't expect you to understand!
Quinny were looking for testers of their new Xtra Zapp and in returning for blogging, tweeting, FB etc and reviewing their product 25 people were chosen. I mentioned it on here and I joined their FB page. heckle and valium also joined in and valium got lucky!

PacificDogwood · 06/10/2010 22:01

It's a whole other Quinny world out there Wink... thanks for widening my horizons!

Night-night!

SmacsGonePotty · 06/10/2010 22:03

new they cost £225 so not to be sniffed at Grin

Arcadie · 06/10/2010 22:58

Tonight.
Simeon WILL Sleep Through.

Hmm
OP posts:
PacificDogwood · 07/10/2010 08:20

Did he, Arcadie?
It is just The Most Horrible Thing when they don't sleep well, mucho sympathies.

Here is it clearly teething that is upsetting the applecart Joe - tooth nr4 discovered yesterday and last night he only woke once ShockGrin. After having been up more times than I can remember in the mornings until now, I am totally lost for words.... and my boobs hurt this morning Wink.

Smile
DizziDoll · 07/10/2010 08:20

Good morning!!
It's Thursday, hooray!!!

Pixie DH day for you. How many hours & minutes before he walks through the door? Have you planned what you will be wearing?

Arcadie Good luck with your DH's consultant appointment. Did Simeon listen to you and sleep all night through?

Evitas I hope sleep is getting better for you too. Only 1 more day and it's weekend! Hold on to that thought :-)

Melk If you need someone to chaperone you to Oz, just say the word and I will be there Grin

PD Well done on not killing anyone your first days at work. I am not sure I could cope with so little sleep. It's nice that you can feed little Joe instead of having to use the evil expressing machine thingy (what's the word?)

Dontry I am quite Envy. I would LOVE to set up my own business and have been racking my brain to think of a good product/service around kids. I haven't come up with a money spinner yet though. I hope you have!

Scooby You are very brave. I only have to think of night shifts and I pass out.

TooBlessed good on you re. smear. I did mine a few weeks ago and it wasn't really so bad. I am booked in to get a coil fitted this evening, which I am more nervous about...

Smac Maybe you could arrange dual custody with Valium Grin

My news is that I got the job with Gartner Grin Grin. Now I have to see if they would be willing to change the working hours, allow me to do 4 days the first few months and pay me more Shock. Only the working hours are a deal breaker though.
I'm also going to look at finding another family to do a nanny-share with. Poor DS is now scheduled to go to 4 (FOUR) different CM/Nurseries. The poor boy.

DS isn't sleeping through yet by any means. Last night he was awake at midnight, 2am, 4-5:30, 6:30. No teeth in sight.

I also had a talk with DD's teacher. She's going to prep school (all paid for by DH's work) and absolutely loves it. The teachers are all very happy with her. I sat there with tears in my eyes. Sooo proud! I bet she'll be a little bugger at the MMMM today though, as she too hardly slept.

Sorry for the long post. I'd best go and save the plant from my DS now. Toodles!

siamesecatwoman · 07/10/2010 09:32

hello
Im never going to remember everything I had to say but ill give it a try!
Firstly Im so Envy of todays meet up. To the point where I dreamt it had already happened and SuperHans had been too with his kid! Lack of sleep has been making me have weird dreams and nightmares lately.
Since DD has been on the move (and all our belongings are no longer safe) I have liked knowing that she is where she wants to be ie she has the freedom to move or change activity if she wants to. But also i have noticed that if Im playing on the floor with her and have forgotten to feed her or its coming up to a feed, she will come over and try to undress me! At least I know when she is hungry now!! For those of you with older DC - did you move everything from small hands or did you try to let them learn that No means no and hope that pulling on the curtains would get boring?

Still no teeth here (except the one at the back!).

Elk Id go to Oz like a shot!
RKD thinking of you and DH today x
Pacific well done on going back to work. Im excited about the Scottish MMMM too but we'll see you in York first right? oh and hows your dad?
Evitas hows your mum? Hope last night was better?
BMI I saw your boots in gap yesterday, lovely! restrained self from buying
Dizzi well done on the job!
bluey boo to your employers! (must get round to asking mine)

scooby Im sure tll be ok when you go back, perhaps the change will change things for him too?

fliss I hate your neighbours for you. What happened in the end last night? We had police helicopters buzzing round making me tense at 9ish but they seemed to have a positive effect in that they disturbed her but didnt wake her and she then slept till 12!

Its meant to be nap time now, before swimming but oh yes, of course she isnt sleeping!

Hope someone takes pics at todays meet up and reports back pronto x

DrSkidaddle · 07/10/2010 11:16

well done dizzi - how exciting! Hope you get your 4 days and your extra money! I am currently agonising over applying for a full-time job that starts in April. I REALLY don't want to be away from the DC all day every day but it will mean more money and a good three year post which means a lot these days....

PD glad you and your patients survived your first day (did you not enjoy having a bit of time with no babies/little boys just a tiny bit???) and wow at Joe's sleeping!

siamese - no teeth here either (not even back ones)

arcadie - not sure what is going on but good luck for your DH (and hope DS slept through...)

I got DS his first shoes yesterday!!! I felt a bit ridiculous as he's barely 7 months and clearly can't walk - but whenever he's in the park/playground he always wants to practise his walking (holding hands obv) and his socks get soaking wet so I thought I'd just chuck them in the bottom of the buggy for when they're needed. He even got a 'First shoes' photo taken and everything

DrSkidaddle · 07/10/2010 11:18

PS siamese that is so cute your DD undressing you! I always intended to move everything out of the way with my older two but it never worked. FWIW DS still tries to pull the curtain off its rail and he will be 3 in December!

evitas · 07/10/2010 12:20

Hi all,

RKD Hope everything goes well, I'll pray for you. Did Simeon sleep?

PD glad that it wasn't very traumatic to go back to work and that Joe did fairly well at the CM.

Dizzi Congratulations on your job! Also, you have all the reasons to be proud that your DD is doing well at school :) Sorry to hear that you are also having terrible nights!

Pixie Thank God is Thursday!!! :)

Siamese How sweet of your DD trying to undress you :). Thanks for asking: my mum is doing well. She has another appointment end of the month.

DrSki you've just inspired me to by my DS some shoes :)

Scooby you must be very brave! Going back to work on night shifts?! Really admire you!

Toostressed Good luck

The night was slightly better than the previous one... I've managed to sleep 3 hours in a row Grin (I went to bed at 9.30 Wink)
Being sleep deprived makes it even more difficult to focus and write my thesis. Any volunteers to help me with the writing? :)

have a lovely day
x

Arcadie · 07/10/2010 12:25

Simeon sleep? Naaaah
DH becoming a one-balled monster? yup.

Must go to toddlers - more later.

OP posts:
DrSkidaddle · 07/10/2010 12:29

evitas - I wrote my thesis with a little baby (DS1) and while sleep deprived... no advice really except to try for 'good enough to pass' rather than 'an amazing piece of research'. How far into it are you?

arcadie - Sad more info please?

evitas · 07/10/2010 15:19

RKD Hugs!!

DrSki In theory I'm just writing up... Need to have my first draft by end of January. But I think you are right, it just has to be good enough to pass and not the best piece of research ever :)

Siamese Thank you. They finally stopped at about 10pm Shock Had to stop DH going round there, although if they'd woken DD up then I'd have taken her round there myself.

DrSkidaddle How lovely about the shoes, I can barely get DD to keep socks on, never mind shoes.

Evitas and PD Glad you got some sleep (amazing how three straight hours suddenly seems like a luxury!).

Arcadie :(

Dizzi Well done you and DD!

Well done to all of you who have returned to work, the efforts to get all the CM stuff in place are still going on here, and today the man has come with a digger and a dumper and a skip so the wilds of my back garden can be tamed. We're nearly ready for the asbestos shed to go before I send off the CM reg pack to Ofsted.

Hope that fab times are being had at the meet up Grin

BusyMissIzzy · 07/10/2010 16:34

Just back from MMMM London and need to feed a hungry DD, but saw your post Arcadie. Is it just diagnostic at this stage? Either way, I'm sorry you and your DH are going through it, it must be a tough time. Sending you virtual hugs xx

Hopefully back later.

angfirsttimer · 07/10/2010 17:33

rkd sorry to hear your dh needs the op, thinking of you.

pixie enjoy your time with dh

Back from mmmm southern edition, think we caused chaos in M&P cafe but had lovely time thanks ladies

Oooops ds grizzling, back later

FlipFantasia · 07/10/2010 18:29

Had a lovely time at meet up - so many babies! Even in M&Ps it seemed like a lot...in a good way Smile. Was super fun to put faces to all the names even if it was funny "converting" real names into MN ones Grin

Arcadie sorry to hear your DH has to have the op - I was so hoping the scan could have been conclusive and no op would be needed. I shall now hope that the subsequent tests come back clear. Feel feel to FB message me again if you need to but hope your DH doesn't have to wait too long.

Pixie happy thursday Smile

Had journey from hell getting back from central london - remind me never to get a bendy bus with a buggy again! DS loved it mind, he had a gaggle of school girls playing peekaboo and the like with him for most of the journey home.

TooBlessedToBeStressed · 07/10/2010 20:05

pixie,a wonderful thursday to you, greet your DH in your birthday suit, forget talking, you can talk later:o
RKD,my prayers to you and DH
donttryclever you
dizzycongatulations on the new job
pacific good luck with going back to work,i went back to work for a few days when DH had his papa leave,i HATED it,so much that i chose not to go back but do A levels in norwegian:o,,thats how bad i hated it
evitas:o at your toostressed,,its :otooblessed,not offended though
elk i can come with you to oz,there is nothing to think about, just get on the plane and its goodbye everyone, nice knowing you all
drskimy DD started wearing shoes when she was 4months(i didn't buy them)her grandma did and if i didn't put them on it would have been a huge story,so i had to and she can keep them on,however she wants to eat them while they are on her which makes her a true acrobat,

i am so green at the meetup today,i wished i was in the same area as you girls, however i feel wonderful bcoz my doc was lovely with me and the pap smear was nothing at all,i didn't feel anything,i thought it would be hell but nope, next time i won't hesitate,DD has been waking up a bit earlier than her usual 6 am time, last night DH was gonna attend to her if she woke up,the little minx decided not wake up at all, woke up at 6.30am and saved hubby from working up,i smell conspiracy here:o

MummyElk · 07/10/2010 20:34

evening all
Sad at rkd and DH, am sorry about the news and await to hear the full story at some point. A man can do a lot on one ball, mind Smile
pixie hope you snuggled up with DH
evitas i was thinking of your mum the other day too, am glad she is doing well.
dizzi well done on the job!!
And quite happy for any of you to chaperone me to Oz if you like - shall we do an MMMM in Brisbane then?!!!!! Grin
I AM going. probably a week on monday Shock. i feel Sad about leaving the Elk that long but I definitely can't do it with the two of them and she will be find with grandma and Daddy so i just have to man up a bit. and i am definitely looking forward to a random very longhaul holiday even if it is with relatives and soon-to-be-in-laws-i-don't-really-know!!!

MMMM loved it - thanks all for your various elk shepherding, baby holding, chair shifting etc etc - was good to meet you albeit briefly and i admit i'm still getting my head around who was who etc etc. Sorry I was a bit distracted, it was perhaps a bit tight on the old time front after all that Blush. My lost underground ticket put the kybosh on me getting my 1500 train Sad - i got there in time but they wouldn't let me on....sob. hey ho we got to see the MOST amazing steam train at bristol so the Elk was quite satisfied and give or take she behaved....
In fact really sorry I was so distracted - it would have been nice to have a good gass and properly chat - sorry. It's all very well having disjointed multiple conversations with old friends but harder with people you don't know very well - sorry!!

better spend some time with DH, my weekend away with the girls is looming and he deserves at least a cuddle on the sofa Grin

Arcadie · 07/10/2010 21:00

Full story... hmm... well... Apologies to PD for slating her profession but the consultant had the personality of a breezeblock. He's met DH 3 times I think and this is the first time I've come (as I knew the others would just be routine scans etc and today's was a "this is the future" chat). He doesn't even acknowledge my and Simeon's presence in the room. Looks at DH and says - "well we can schedule you in for surgery on the 26th. We couldn't rule out a tumour but it looks more like an abcess. What do you want to do?"

DH, flustered a bit at basically being given the choice of surgery or not says "urm ur urrrrrm, well I think it'd be better to have it taken out" (but doesn't want to look like some surgery craving looney) "What do you recommend?"

Breezeblock, tersly "Have it done. You'll need an MRSA swab today, take this to the nurse. 8am on Tuesday 26th. You'll be in and out in the day because yo're young and fit" End of.

DH "Urm can I cycle again soon after?"

Breeezeblock - looking a little irked that the consultation has now lasted for 3 minutes. "Yes in three weeks. Week off work".

DH "So you think I should then. What are the risks?"

BB "Well nature abhors a vacuum so you might get an infected bloodclot. COuld end up in a worse mess than you are now really."

DH " Oh. Erm."

BB "Have it done though."

Me: (hoping to open a line of communciation with sociopathic doctor) So the operation.. will he be in first thing in the morning? Is he Nil by mouth overnight?

Increasingly irritated clockwatching BB: "That sort of thing gets sorted much closer to the time."

Me: Stops talking sheepishly as has been told

BB "it's in half term, that should make it easier"

Me: Probably not actually.

BB "well we're not here to fit in around your schedule".

Me & DH

And we're now thinking - hmm, exactly what are the complications? Should I stay with him on the day? How long does the op take? Will we be able to visit him if he is in overnight? Is it acceptable/ appropriate to have any of our DCs with us when I drop him off? Possible prosthetics? Aaaarrrrgh stupid consultant......

OP posts:
Arcadie · 07/10/2010 21:01

Woohoo 800 posts!

OP posts:
BusyMissIzzy · 07/10/2010 21:05

Don't worry Melk, I was there for longer than you and feel like I didn't really talk properly to some people as well. That was probably partly due to my own conversational rubbishness, but it's hard with 10ish people round a big table, and everyone juggling babies to boot. It was lovely to meet everyone anyway, nice (and a tad surreal) to put names to faces (and names to names too, iyswim), and to see all the lovely babies. We MMMs do seem to have done well on that front, they're all very cute :)

I had meant to congratulate Dizzi on the new job and to ask Manda about her plans in NYC when I saw them today, but in the stress of the moment I forgot (see above re: conversational crapness Blush)

Also v. exciting about Oz Melk (you're going to be back for the York MMMM though, right??)

TooBlessed glad the smear went fine (didn't we tell you it would?)

siamese about babyproofing: we've moved things that could actually hurt Isobel, but anything else, things she might break etc, we try to tell her 'no'. Not that she understands or takes notice, but hopefully the message will get through eventually.

DrSkid first shoes, aww :) The babies are growing up so fast..

We almost have teeth here (finally!). I can see one practically poking through, and can feel a teeny sharp bit. The one next to it doesn't look too far off either. Maybe that's why she's been waking up at night again..
