So the last thread could be used as proof that September 09 (and an August!) parents were kept far too busy by their babies to talk about them very often! Shall we see if we can get this one done before second birthdays (eek, 2 is so big) are upon us?

Ladyem · 27/09/2010 18:12

just popping in as all went well. Am still woozy from the sedation, but I didn't know a thing and it was all over very quickly! Now to try and eat soup without dribbling it down my front! Will catch up tomorrow.

Kveta - my two have had runny bums, so think it is doing the rounds Sad hope he feels better soon! xx

CompetitiveChutes · 28/09/2010 12:37

How are you feeling ladyem?

I'm having an 'off' day today. For the last two nights Gabe will only sleep if curled right into me which means I can't sleep as I really like my own space in bed. His eczema is flaring and nappy rash is back which can only mean another sodding tooth is due. I somehow managed to drive the wrong way around Sainsburys car park one-way system earlier, no idea how but I suspect I probably shouldn't have been driving. Have bought lots of food but nothing I fancy for lunch so am dejectedly eating my way through a box of Sainsburys rip-off Magnums.

Gabe will not wear shoes. He screams and screams and it's awful. Have had some truly horrendous visits to Clarks and have given up now. Thankfully they refunded me his shoes, I think just to get the screamy boy out the shop. I thought I would try him with slippers, chose the best of a fairly horrible bunch of skulls/cartoon character selection at Sainsbos and they don't bloody fit. They are a size 5, Gabe is a 4 and they are too small. I need to go back and change them

I really hope everyone is having a better day!

kveta · 28/09/2010 14:50

glad it was ok ladyem, hope you didn't dribble much :o

chutes, that sounds miserable re: sleep :( also with the shoes! I'm tempted to get Oli some slippers from M+S as they are cheap and our house is cold. not sure how long they'd stay on though. Will Gabe wear wellies do you think, or is it all hard soled shoes he objects to? poor wee thing. my colleague apparently screamed the place down when he got shoes as a toddler, but now wears shoes every day :o he is 30 though! I saw a baby with slippers like this the other day at nursery, so maybe that's an idea? (there are also these but the price is a bit Shock)

Oli had a bad night last night. He went down at 8 but was up at 1 wanting to play. both DH and I had to resist slapping him as he kept sticking fingers up our noses, in our ears, pulling my hair, and at one point grabbing my nipple and yanking it - not my favourite child this morning. We're pretty set on controlled crying him in his own room once we have the time and energy to move the house around - hopefully in the next month or so. He was very cute at dinner time though - he's taken to imitating every sound he can, and we were all pointing at various things in the room, with DH and I telling him what they were in both languages - then we pointed at him and said 'Oli!' and he pointed at himself and went 'Oli?' really softly. DH and I were doing the :o of parents who are slowly realising that their PFB isn't totally thick :o it was nice!

Ladyem · 28/09/2010 15:55

Oh no, I posted on here yesterday too!! I don't really remember any of yesterday!! Sedation of fantastic !! Grin Grin I don't remember a thing about the procedure, but apparently I started batting at the dentist and when he asked me to stop I said 'Oh, I'm really sorry, I thought you were my little brother trying to put a toy car in my mouth!' Blush How embarrassing!! Remember getting out of the chair, then being somewhere on the motorway walking through our front door, but that's about it!! I'm also told that I tried to go and sort out the casserole I had put on for tea before we left, but as I started to try to get the lid off the pot I was promptly steered towards the settee for a lie down!! Grin No real pain today in my tooth, more in my arm where they had the drip thingy for the drugs.

So all done after 8 months of waiting!!

Chutes - I wouldn't worry about the shoes, he's still little and I'm sure he will start to take an interest when he gets more excited about choosing his own things. But what is it with Sainsbury's sizing?! It's all over the place!! DD is 3 and in size 5-6 year old clothes from there! She's tall, but I'd be worried if she was still this height at that age! Where as J is still in 6-9 or 9-12 months and people keep telling me he's a bruiser!!

Kveta - It must be so cute to heat Oli speaking!! J can't say anything except for 'Urrrr!', but he will point to things and say it as if he is really trying to tell us something! Probably 'I want that!' Grin DDs first words were cukka-tea for cuppa tea!! Was a very proud Mummy!! Grin

J had his MMR and Pneumococcal this afternoon. Glad I was well enough to take him, but he did cry this time so I was Sad . Both in bed now, so DH and I are having a nice cuppa and cake!!

Hope all are well!

peachygirl · 28/09/2010 18:52

popoinging!

Shocking baby here, vomiting, night waking with screeching etc

I'll be back to catch up

BerryLellow · 29/09/2010 13:44

Chutes does Gabe find them too tight? Mads gets a bit hellish with his trainers too but today I managed to keep them on him for a while. J really liked his Celts Still does (as do I) So we've pairs of them all over for Mads to grow into! They are great as they spread naturally with the childs foot, and they are quite snug to begin with as the sheepskin is quite dense. I don't work for them or anything, but I've just had success with the boots. Wearing a pair right now...mmm....snuggly :)

Ladyem! I was :o at your shock at rambling onto fb and you did the same here too! V funny. Hope it all heals well.

Can I mention Christmas? Only because we've booked to stay in a log cabin for 3 nights with some friends and I want to ooh and ah about it with someone :) Tis here

Sorry to hear about all the illness, hope it hasn't set in for winter...

CompetitiveChutes · 29/09/2010 14:45

That doesn't sound fun peachygirl, hope things are improving.

I wondered if the shoes thing is because Gabe can't control them, e.g put them on/ take them off. He is a very determined boy who wants to do things himself. Or possibly he doesn't like his feet covered, as he always whips his socks off within minutes of being on. Or they are too tight as every time in Clarks I got 'ooh he's a H, that is the widest we go, panic, panic, etc'. I did feel like I was stuffing his feet into the shoes they offered. I only want him in shoes so he can walk outside when it's wet. I love those boots you linked too Berry, I think need them, or similar. Will also try wellies . They have rip-off Converse in Sainsbos so I might try those as well. Speaking of Sainsbos they have 25% of clothing atm so I kitted out Gabe for the next year!

So jealous you are going away for Christmas Berry, it will be so lovely and christmassy in a log cabin. Am Envy at the hot tub!

Congrats to Oli for his mastering of language! No words from Gabe, just lots of babbling, shouting, growling and what we think are him imitating us doing racing car noises for him.

Ladyem · 30/09/2010 17:59

Hi all!

Baz - very jealous of your lovely log cabin. Have been badgering DH ever since for us to go away for Christmas!! We were going to go to a log cabin in Scotland last year, then thought twice about it and realised that a 2 year old and a 4 month old wouldn't be much fun to take away!! This year it would be much more fun!! Grin

Chutes - Do you know how long the 25% off in Sainsbo's is on for? I might need to go and get all my friend's kids pj's for Christmas if that is the case!! Plus kit my 2 out for the next few months!

Busy week here. Was nice to have a pyjama day yesterday and not do anything!! Am shattered today, so I think the stress of Monday is catching up with me, plus J seems to have either a bug or his Jabs have made his bum runny (again!), so he's been waking early with a very full nappy - nice!!

Am thinking of starting some form of exercise now that my tooth is gone!! Want to be bikini ready by the time we go away next June!! (Nothing booked yet, but we are at the planning stage!) Wonder if there is an exercise class that will boost my bust?!! Grin

Oh, and the boy that only ever wants his Mummy - aka Joseph - pointed to DH on Monday and said 'da-da' Hmm The traitor!! Grin

kveta · 01/10/2010 11:10

oh, he's not speaking - just making noises that sound like he's imitating our sounds - like he says 'booo' when he sees a cow (it's czech for moo. honestly) and I was saying choo choo at a train so he did choo choo back - but it's only ever a one off, then not repeated, so not really speaking! how funny that Joseph said dada - your DH must have been bursting with pride!!

very jealous (or should that be berryjealous?) of your log cabin bazza - we stayed in one in the Smokey Mountains in North Georgia before Oli was born, and the hot tub was awesome. the signs everywhere warning about bears were terrifying though. We had a carving knife with us next to hot tub just in case. oh, and I got some celts slippers last year for christmas - very nice indeed! DH may get some this year if he's very good :o

will be off to sainsburies later chutes, although I'm not sure what to buy - we got a load of 2nd hand clothes for Oli from my boss, so have lots of 1-2 year old stuff. I think some slippers and vests will probably top my list.

work insanely busy this week - I had a 2 day course to go to, and yesterday it turned out to all be about programming which I am totally ignorant of, so I sat and wrote a story for Oli. I'm sure he won't appreciate it, but it kept me amused whilst a bloke muttered about logic at the front of the room :o

right, back to my spreadsheets, need to get something done before scarpering early for La Leche meeting!!

Ladyem · 03/10/2010 08:02

Quiet on here this weekend! You must all be out having a lovely time! Grin

I want some of those Celts now!! They look so cosy! Might have to ask Santa, although he is (hopefully) bringing me a Kindle, so might be pushing my luck! Grin

Started my Christmas shopping on Friday as they had some good offers on in the Disney shop!! DD is well into princesses, so I have a couple of bits for her and wanted to get her some dressing up shoes, but they had horrible heels on them!! Shock They were yuck (to use one of her words!) Grin

No more da-da's, but he has started to understand when we ask him to pass us something! Seems quite monumental when they go from just looking at you blankly to actually doing something!!

J is still being a pooing machine, so not sure what's up there, but he seems happy enough and is eating well for a change! Anyone else's LO still bring back a bit of milk after a drink? He still does it - only every so often, but DD had grown out of this by about 8 months.

CompetitiveChutes · 03/10/2010 12:04

We're still stuck in teething hell so I'm just a bit too grumpy to be talking on the internet. My horrible son just bit my nipple as well so I am not particularity enjoying the mother thing today.

DP keeps on asking me if I want a Kindle and I keep on having to remind him I mainly read in the bath and at least a paperback dries out if splashed, I don't think a Kindle would survive! I really want a hand-held vacuum cleaner for Christmas

Gabe is wearing slippers! For a few minutes at a time but no hysterics! He will also consent to wearing the rip-off Converse for a few seconds yay!

Ladyem he used to bring up milk after every feed but thinking about it I don't think he has done so for a few months? I really can't remember when I stopped having to wash the sofa covers every other day!

Happy birthday Monty! Gabe loves Chinese too, and Indian, tapas, whatever. Narks me right off when he eats half my delicious foodGrin

Ladyem · 03/10/2010 22:38

Happy Birthday, Monty!! Hope that he had a lovely day!! Chinese buffet sounds yum!! Grin

Will have to look up that you tube video!! I had sedation a few years back for some other dental work and I was even more embarrassing that time! The dental nurse bought me through to the recovery room and told DH that I had been telling them all about Justin Timberlake sweating on me!! Shock Can only think that in my mind I was talking about when I went to see him in concert and we were at the front!! Who knows what else I said in there without DH to stop me!! Blush What with that and all the things I said during my 2 labours, I think I cannot embarrass myself any further!!

Mmmmmm, want mushroom chow mien, now!! Grin

Minshu · 04/10/2010 16:11

Just found you all. Not been on for so long.

Caitlin's big day is wednesday. SF - we were due the same day, I think, but my LO was more stubborn. Having just moved house, the only thing I've managed to sort out for her big day is getting her jabs done (she won't be traumatised forever, will she?)

All changed since last on - DD self weaned a couple of weeks ago :(, but is eating better, settling at nursery and recovering from a nasty cough. She coped better with moving house than I did.

Sorry to hear about the biting, chutes, but bizarrely jealous EnvyHmm And sorry about the dental work, ladyem.

Not caught up, and unlikely to have regular access for a little while, but wanted to show my face.

kveta · 05/10/2010 11:57

hiya minshu! happy birthday to caitlin for tomorrow :)

nothing new here - Oli has become a human hoover and is eating constantly, which is a nice change from his refusal of anything savoury all last week. Oh, and he's got an infected foreskin - so nice trip to the GP yesterday (who was YOUNGER than me, waaah! I felt so old! it's the 1st time I've met a Dr younger than me :() to discuss oozing. He was Confused that I knew what bacterial family caused it :o ah, it's nice being a geek sometimes!

teething still grim, sleep best not mentioned (as it rarely happens), tantrums regular - all in all, a normal toddler I think...

peachygirl · 05/10/2010 20:36

Hi all, Happy birthday to those babies at the tail end of September.

Things did seem to settle down here. Zoe has had a terrible cold exacerbated by teething but she seems better now. DD1 has got an ear infection. I was summoned to fetch her to nursery Blush after sending her in.
we got home after the GP and her ear is really running Yucky!

So I'm not in work tomorrow, I've got work to do and I have told her she will have to spend some time playing quietly.

We shall see how sane I am by the end of the day

BerryLellow · 06/10/2010 10:42

Happy birthday Caitlin :)

Ouch kveta, poor Oli! But :o at you outdoing GPJnr with your bacterial knowledge

I'm just recovering from a weekend of hell, which started with Madok barely sleeping, followed by my dog being taken ill on Sat night, which resulted in a trip to emergency vets at 3am. £150 later and I get home at 430am, then didn't get back to sleep before Mads thought it was playtime at 5am...

Sorry to hear about all the poorliness, seems like we're going to have a winter of it.

Ladyem · 06/10/2010 15:23

Hey Mishnu! Happy birthday to Caitlin!! I hope that she is having a lovely day!! Smile

Kveta - Grin that you knew that!! I'd love to be able to do that! DH always turns things into a matter of engineering, so when we took J to the GP when he was about 5 weeks old because of his leg tremor the GP was talking through possible causes and DH was saying 'So it's because his central nervous system isn't fully commissioned, then?' Hmm Grin But then my GP is a nob, so I let DH carry on with it while the GP looked perplexed!! Grin

Peachy - hope your DDs are feeling better soon!

Barry - How is your dog now? Getting better I hope!

Starting to wonder why I agreed to take 2 modules this term. All I want to do once the DCs are in bed is collapse in the settee and eat chocolate. I'm having to really force myself to get my books out! I suppose once I get back into the swing of things it will get better!

School reunion this weekend... HELP!!!!!! Grin

peachygirl · 06/10/2010 20:38

Everyone does seem to be better thanks DD1's ear is still yucky but much less by the end of today.
I took her out to Ikea for breakfast and did a few jobs - new wellies for her and new trousers for me and then I got on with work while she watched a Peppa pig DVD. She then did a bit of colouring and I did a bit more. I probably got more done than I expected to.

Zoe went to the CMs as usual. It will be back to normal tomorrow. They will give her the antibiotics there. She is fine!!

kveta · 08/10/2010 12:38

glad your DD is better now peachygirl :)

barry, sounds like a grim weekend, hope you're getting some nice catch up sleep!

I'm knackered at the moment as Oli has taken to waking between 12-1 am and screaming, then wanting to sleep on top of me. And he's having some bad dreams or something, so there have been a few nights recently where we've just had to hold him whilst he cries in his sleep - it's really upsetting! Would be worse if he woke up though :o
he's such a wee ratbag at the moment too - he's having such hilarious strops when he doesn't INSTANTLY get his own way, and now throws things or smacks us in the face if we're near him and causing him not to get his way. nappy changes are bloody dangerous! he keeps eating DH's deodorant stick too, which I'm sure can't be good for him. Mainly as it pisses DH off when he gets out the shower and finds his deodorant all soggy and with chunks taken out of it.

He's got really bad for emptying/filling things too - the washing machine is his favourite toy just now, along with the oven and hoover. he can lift the hoover (how?!) but not high enough to get it into the washing machine, so he just grunts and smashes it against the wall. He's going to be such a nightmare when he's older. Oh, and anything which doesn't automatically get inserted into the washing machine goes in the bin, which is GRRRR! The bin lid seems resolutely un-childproof too. Oh well.

we had a nice afternoon the other day with me blowing bubbles for him in the garden. I hope we get more of this weather, it's lovely!

have a great weekend all!

CompetitiveChutes · 08/10/2010 13:05

Brilliant, was thinking I need to post on here but actually everything kveta wrote in her post goes for me too Grin

peachygirl · 08/10/2010 20:18

I caught zoe about to post the car keys out of the cat flap the other day.

She also likes posting things into the washing machine

bigbang · 08/10/2010 21:20

Dd has started climbing. She is a maniac, she climbs onto chairs, then onto the dining table, up the toy shelving unit, onto the ladybird rocker then onto armchair and then onto windowsill etc... All in about 30 seconds she is soooo quick it's scary. Consequently she has some spectacular bruises. The two on either side of her forehead, like blue devil horns, are my favourites Hmm Grin She also caught conjunctivitis from ds so has massive red circles around her eyes atm. The whole 'look' is quite disturbing I have been getting some funny looks from people Confused

Ladyem · 08/10/2010 22:17

Seems like all these little ones are keeping us all on our toes!! Grin

The only place J likes to post things is in his mouth! He constantly finds something on the floor to put in there and as a consequence I am like a mad woman sweeping, hoovering and checking anything that DD brings in the house from the park, yet he still finds stones/lego/hairbands/old raisins to put in there! Pity he won't eat his actual food!! Hmm

All good here, DD starting to realise that I have to leave her on her own at pre-school, ballet and swimming and as such is becoming very clingy with me. J still has bad nappies and has awful nappy rash which I am trying to give some air, but he just wees everywhere!! Have stocked up on carpet cleaner and am just containing his nappy off time to the bathroom! The carpet need pulling up anyway and tiling, so it's not a total loss! Grin He's also being very grumpy and think he may be coming down with something again as he wouldn't eat his tea or drink his milk before bedtime tonight. Oh well, better that he is ill this weekend, rather than next weekend as we are on our weekend away!!
