So the last thread could be used as proof that September 09 (and an August!) parents were kept far too busy by their babies to talk about them very often! Shall we see if we can get this one done before second birthdays (eek, 2 is so big) are upon us?

Gabriel sticks his hand down my top. I just take it out and say 'no darling' and distract him with my phone or something. He is getting a lot better but does it occasionally quite absent mindedly. I instigated a rule about a month ago that bf is only upstairs in Gabe's bedroom. So before his nap, before bedtime and endlessly throughout the night and morning. Before this it was ad-hoc, a few minutes whenever Gabe wanted.

I would be utterly furious with DP if he said 'bitty' to me as I would see it as a tremendous lack of respect. I am raging now at the thought of that and it is only theoretical as I know it wouldn't even cross his mind to.

Hi popping

crapbarry · 03/02/2011 13:16

hello all.

a story to boost flagging spirits:

met a some friends for lunch yesterday who both have 14 week old daughters - 1 also has a 3 yo DD. The 1st time mum was telling us that until her DD was 10 weeks she was only sleeping 5 hours at a time, and it was so stressful she didn't know what to do. then suddenly her baby started sleeping through the night (11 hrs) at 10 weeks. So her next massive stress was getting her to sleep in her own room without friend being there. She managed that at 12 weeks. And then said 'but having so little sleep was soooo stressful, DH and I have agreed she'll stay an only child because she is such hard work' (and she is bfing with no problems, so can't even hang hope on stopping bfing ending our sleep problems!)

Friend with 3 yo who has never slept through consistently and I were both just Shock (and a lot of Envy). 10 weeks of sleeplessness. Just, fuck me. [weeps] [wails] [weeps some more]

BerryLellow · 03/02/2011 13:42

Just wait til she hits the 4 month sleep regression

crapbarry · 03/02/2011 13:52

he he, we both (mum of 3 yo and I) mentioned that, and she just siad 'oh, I've been told to start weaning when she gets hungry and stops sleeping so well'

Lots of tongue biting went on there :o

BerryLellow · 03/02/2011 16:07

You just have to sit back and watch it all unfold sometimes!

I had to laugh after weeks of a couple of fb friends statuses being about how their darling children were sleeping through 'already!!!!' - we were then all treated to a round of 'what's happened? There must be something wrong' etc etc.

crapbarry · 04/02/2011 11:45

ooh - Wine much better than the bear!!

BerryLellow · 04/02/2011 12:02

is it Wine time yet?

crapbarry · 04/02/2011 12:03

it's always time for Wine!

Lazyem · 04/02/2011 14:07

God, I hate those smug parenting types. They are almost as bad as the competitive parents!! Finding that FaceBrag is turning into a weird competition some days about how brilliant their children are!!

Am very excited as my friend is having her 20 week scan today and hopefully finding out the sex of the baby! She has been really ill throughout the pregnancy and her heart is doing something weird due to the pregnancy, so she's on stand by to have beta blockers (is that how you spell it?) if it all gets any worse. Makes my 20 weeks of nausea pale into insignificance!! Blush She is convinced it's a boy, so we'll have to see!

Hope all the babies are being good today! Grin

Wine (Wish there was a cup of tea one, too!! Am getting old!)

ChutesTooNarrow · 04/02/2011 20:11

I would prefer a cup of tea icon as well. I have completely gone off wine which I am a bit shocked about considering how 'on' it I used to be. It just tastes funny and gives me a headache. I have also gone off my usual PG tips as well and can only drink Earl Grey atm . I would be convinced I was pregnant if it weren't for the regular ovulating and periods.

Lazyem · 04/02/2011 21:18

Mmmm, love Earl Grey tea!! Although I am common and have two sugars a splash of milk in mine!! Grin

My friend is having a boy! Grin All looks good with the baby which is a relief with all the problems she has had. Still not broody, though!!

BerryLellow · 06/02/2011 10:13

Ah, glad everything's okay with your friend :)

I have commoner Earl Grey too, love it...

peachygirl · 06/02/2011 19:49

HI popping again

crapbarry · 08/02/2011 13:27

hi everyone.

glad your friend is ok ladyem!

i don't drink tea or coffee, or much wine tbh.

nothing exciting happening here.

viewing another house on saturday, I'm getting quite sick of house viewing. DH is starting to enjoy it much more for some reason.

got a nice lecture from my parents at the weekend, apparently Oli isn't sleeping well because we give him too much attention, and he is behaving badly because we don't give him enough attention Confused Hmm They don't believe that toddlers are just awkward.

hope all is well!

Lazyem · 08/02/2011 18:15

Love how people have such 'good' advice for how to raise children! Hmm Grin I got the comment again this weekend about how J is clingy because I BF him for so long! (I did 9 months which I am proud of, but I don't think is that long. Would have happily gone on for longer if I could have.) Am getting seriously fed up of it now. I think that these people forget what it was like when their kids were young and that all children are different - my two are living proof of that! Total opposites - so not every rule applies to all children!

Nothing exciting here, either. Was getting all excited about 1/2 term next week only to find out today that it is actually the week after! Blush

Spoke to my pregnant friend yesterday and she is still feeling dreadful, so our trip to Cheltenham next weekend will be a sedate affair!! Grin

Good luck with the house viewing, Crapbarry! I liked looking round houses too, but more for getting ideas on how to decorate, rather that to actually buy them!! Grin

BerryLellow · 09/02/2011 08:04

How do you give both too much and not enough attention?! Confused

Good luck for the house viewing on Saturday...this weekend I shall be doing the rounds with DP's family as there are 3 birthdays within two days.

Any ideas what I might want for my birthday next week? I'm being asked and can't think of anything exciting :)

Lazyem · 09/02/2011 09:52

Ooh, are you doing anything nice for your b-day? I can never think of anything I want, so I usually ask for a lie in and not to have to change any nappies/take DD to the loo for the whole day!! Grin Then go for a pub lunch and a walk. Not very exciting, though!

Lazy day here today as no nursery. Still in our PJs and J has only just got up, so I think our whole routine for today is already 2 hours out!! Never mind, at least he's not screaming!! Yet!

crapbarry · 09/02/2011 11:05

I've asked for a recipe book holder for my birthday next week. DH has got me a bag which I bought in Prague. Romantic! As you all know, he's getting a kindle from me, I'm more excited about his birthday than mine now!!

we're doing the family thing next weekend - we have 4 birthdays in the space of 8 days, which can get expensive. I'm making a cake, but am not sure how to decorate it - it's for a 27 year old, 29 year old, 34 year old and 57 year old - maybe I should ice it "welcome to the old gimmers club" :o

I've been asked to design and order some promotional material for work - pens and notepads - so much more exciting than database maintenance!! we did talk about getting balloons too, but realised that we were probably aiming at a slightly lower age group than use our site!

Oli still sleeping badly, but he's beahving a little better this week. He's talking so much now - in both languages - it's incredible (to me :o). nursery have commented that he talks a LOT (hmm, wonder where he gets that from?!). His latest words are sticker, stick, and hopi, which is a czech word for jumping. He had a total shitfit the other day because I wouldn't give him my book, and he was screaming what sounded like 'digger!' at me. Turned out he was saying sticker and wanted the '2 for £7' sticker on the front of the book! Does it get easier when they can properly communicate with you?!

Lazyem · 09/02/2011 12:05

Ooh, all these birthdays! We'll have to have a virtual party!! Grin Wine

It gets so much easier when they can tell you what they want or what is wrong. I love my little conversations with DD! We found a video of her at about 10 months making little grunting noises and it was strange to see her not being able to talk! That said, she never shuts up now, so that might be why!! Grin It is very quiet when she is at nursery!

Lazyem · 09/02/2011 12:32

Oooh, look! They are voting to have a [tea] emoticon!!

here

peachygirl · 09/02/2011 20:27

Hi sorry, things are very hectic here party planning and work is very busy too.

My parents arrive on friday and the house is a terrible mess.

ChutesTooNarrow · 09/02/2011 21:11
