So the last thread could be used as proof that September 09 (and an August!) parents were kept far too busy by their babies to talk about them very often! Shall we see if we can get this one done before second birthdays (eek, 2 is so big) are upon us?

Chutes I've had a mailing through from Asda this morning (excitement) - they are doing Wii Fit for £75 if you are still thinking about it.

Ooh LJ - you'll know us all and everything :o :o

I think I may have a look at the shred in a minute when Mads has a nap, see what's involved like...

ChutesTooNarrow · 13/01/2011 13:36

I've turned green?

crapbarry if I send LJ a link to the group will it show or is it hidden? Let me try it anyway, hopefully you will get option to join LJ.

crapbarry · 13/01/2011 13:39

um, no idea. sorry. am (for a computational scientist) spectacularly ignorant about facebook policies :o

give it a go, and if not, I can un-private it for 5 mins so LJ can join! I think...

ChutesTooNarrow · 13/01/2011 13:50

Ooooo have just looked at Asda Direct and wii fit is £50 but they don't have any in stock. I have convinced myself I need it now. Gabe is asleep and this is meant to be my shredding time but am sat on my arse instead.

Bloody stupid woman on my FB just emailed me about a so-called party in the summer - she is the type who only wants to be friends when she has something to brag about and doesn't give a toss about any one else's life, family or feelings. Bloody stupid woman... arrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Need to vent on here so that I don't email her back something that I regret, and as I am not very good at confrontation it would be a rubbish come-back anyway!! Angry

Phew.... just needed to get that out. Blush

As you were!! Grin

So with these wii fit thingy, do you get the whole thing or is it an add on to an actual wii? (I have no idea about these things and the only games console we have is an original play station!! Grin ) Like the sound of those games and exercises that they show on the telly.

Just had a young man at the door who told me he had just been released from Prison and could he sell me some cleaning products. Was a little scared TBH, although he looked harmless. Luckily the kids chose that exact moment to start synchronized screaming, so I had a get out!! Should I have just bought something to be nice? Feel a bit bad now.

ChutesTooNarrow · 13/01/2011 17:01

If she brings nothing to your friendship then just ditch her Lazy. Life is too short to get wound up by people like that. I also don't buy things just to be nice, only if I actually need something. My mum has a compulsion to buy something of anyone who knocks at the door, or give money to an out of tune rendition of 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' and it annoys me as I think she is too nice and people take advantage of that. I am sure she is still subscribing to the church newsletter from her old house as she is too nice to stop. Door sellers get a very arsey response from me as I have a sign requesting no cold callers, junk mail, etc. I can not stand being bothered in my own home, we don't have a landline for similar reasons.

I actually chased a charity collection bag person down the road the other day to give the collection bag back. We get 2-3 a week despite the sign (improvement on at least 10 a week previously, and that is not an exaggeration!) and they NEVER collect them and it's all a horrible scam anyway.

Wii fit is an addon to the Wii so you need one of those. We have one but DP thinks it is an embarrassment - not a proper gaming console so it is relegated to behind the telly. I love it but obviously don't get to use it very often. I got Just Dance for Christmas but it's still in the cellophane.

We used to be friends a few years a go, but it was all take, take, take on her part. Very long story and she has many issues that she needs to work though, but unfortunately, we were friends with her DH many years before she was on the scene and my DH still keeps in touch with him, so cutting her out isn't really an option. She was always alright, but always on her terms and as I am a softy I used to put up with it. Now I am just fed up of her never asking about my life and kids and her expecting me to want to coo over her baby. Thing I am fed up about is that she has concocted this story that she wants to throw her DH a surprise party for his b-day the day before her dd's 1st birthday when her DHs birthday was actually 6 months before and what she is really doing is trying to get a huge party for her DD as she knows that her behaviour in the past will cause people to not be bothered about her dd's party. Seems like I am making a big deal out of nothing, but it is the final straw and I just want to email back that I couldn't give a fig!!! Blush

Wish I'd asked the lad at the door if he had any magic erasers! Have been looking for those everywhere to get rid of the crayon marks on the walls!!

LJ29 · 13/01/2011 18:36

Right, with a bit of help from chutes I've sent a request to join the group but someone will need to give me the run down of who everyone actually is.

BerryLellow · 13/01/2011 19:28

LJ there's a little bit on there where we have said who we are :)

crapbarry · 13/01/2011 19:49

with luck, I've added you :)

peachygirl · 13/01/2011 20:35

Hi, sorry just a quick pop in.

crapbarry · 14/01/2011 10:02

ladyem - I got one of those blokes at our door a few months back, and when I said I wasn't interested, he told me to fuck off - so obviously hadn't lost his aggression in prison... Had I been more awake, I'd have asked for his details and contacted his manager/parole officer!! Very intimidating and quite scary.

I've just found out I'm getting a £400 bonus payment for some teaching work I did last semester, woohoo! Grin And, more excitingly, the house sellers got a new certificate, so we're appealing to the bank, eek! god alone knows how they managed it so fast, we were told it would take weeks, but it's taken days Confused

and as for the shred - sheesh, that's some work out for only 20 minutes!! DH has promised that if I managed 20 days, he'll join me, so that's my current incentive! every muscle in my body is going Shock though, I'm feeling nicely exhausted yet stangely positive today!

hope all is ok berry, saw you mentioned hospital on fb, do let us know you're alright.

LobsterAndMonkey · 14/01/2011 12:39

Hey,

I have name-changed for a bit, been with the old one too long. It's bb btw!

I had a young chap trying to sell me dusters from a big black bag as part of a 'young offenders rehabilitation program'. Even if I only look at the stuff he would get a reference... I'm not sure who from seeing as he was alone... Anyway I didn't buy anything despite the fact that 'everything had been very popular with my neighbours'...

Lazyem · 14/01/2011 13:15

The lad who came here had the opening line of 'I've just been released from Prison, but I'm not dangerous or nuffin...' Shock If he hadn't put that last bit on I perhaps would have just looked at the things he was selling, but the cheapest thing and say good bye, but mentioning dangerous made me scared!! To be fair, he was trying very hard to be polite, but I panicked!!

Just had my neighbour and her youngest son round for a cuppa and she was filling me in on the horrors of school-yard politics! Really looking forward to that in September!! Hmm Grin DD also kept wanting to hold her son's hand and he was having none of it!! Grin They have known each other practically since birth but now they are 3 it is apparent that a princess loving ballerina wanna-be and a boy who loves cars and trucks and Ben10 do not get along as well as they did last year!!

Told DH that we are not going to the fake surprise party as woman in question is barking and luckily he didn't push it! Grin

Hope you are all having a good day! x

BerryLellow · 16/01/2011 08:19

We were doing so well, post count steadily climbing, then the fb group comes along and I reckon this thread will turn into the old one :o

crapbarry · 16/01/2011 12:11

:o

I have done 3 days of the shred now and am aching less, so will see if I can keep going until 30 days! so knackered, this molar of oli's is taking forever and a day to come in, so we're back to 4 or 5 wakings a night [yawn]

he just walked a mile into town and is still wide awake, not sure what, with the exception of sedatives, will get him to nap today!!

how's everyone else's weekends going?

Lazyem · 16/01/2011 13:08

Well done on keeping up the shred!! Grin I've still not been to the gym since having my induction!!

J not well, so I've been up in the night with him. Not sure what is wrong, he's hot, not eating and sleeping lots - in the day anyway!! Grin. Thought it was because his molars are coming through, but think it may be more than that. We'll see how he is tomorrow but might need a trip to see the GP.

On the other hand DD seems to have had a burst of never ending energy and has been dancing round the living room non-stop all weekend singing at the top of her voice and making me dizzy!!!

Hope you are all having a good one! Grin

crapbarry · 17/01/2011 14:21

hope J is feeling better soon Ladyem - Oli has got another cold (his 1st of 2011, but probably about his 15th of this winter!), so that, plus his tooth = no sleep for me. I'm propping my eyelids open with matchsticks at the moment.

oh, and I got a shock absorber level 4 bra chutes - the bloody thing has fallen apart after two uses! I swear, one of the cups has ripped off the main bra! It was really good too! so off back tot he shop this afternoon to wail at them. I was even managing jumping jacks without holding onto my bosom, it was that good! grr!

We had a good weekend, saw lots of friends, so that's our socialising done for this month :o I did a load of baking too, which doesn't go too well with the shredding Hmm tastes nice though!! I got the jamie oliver 30 minute meals books for christmas, and it's ace - have done 3 meals so far, all took about 30 minutes to cook, so I'm impressed! the one I did yeaterday was awesome, will be doing it again soon!!

I've been reading loads of artful and crafty blogs the past few evenings whilst DH plays on my PS3 (which I got for DVDs, an rarely get to use!!), and am getting all inspired for art projects with Oli when he is old enough. He's mad about the coloured pens, although mainly to suck the colour out of them rather than mark paper :o Can't wait to get stuck in with paint :o

better go and get my boy now, he was not a happy bunny being dropped off this morning, so I have felt very guilty all day - what's the betting he refuses to leave this afternoon to make up for it?!

BerryLellow · 17/01/2011 14:46

crapbarry I bought Mads an aquadraw set for Christmas to satisfy his scribbling urges for the moment. J does lots of colouring in and Mads is just desperate to 'help'. I got this which comes with a 'pen' you fill up with water. So when Mads puts it in his mouth all that comes out is harmless :)

Which 30 minuters have you tried so far? I've only done bits and pieces from it as yet

Lazyem · 17/01/2011 16:12

Crapbarry - I think I dosed J up so much yesterday that he flaked out all night! We made the mistake of thinking that an afternoon out might do him good so we went to the Herbert museum in Coventry. He was quite happy while we were in the museum, but we then decided to go for a pizza for tea and he sat on the floor, whined the whole time and wouldn't eat anything. Today his temp is down, but he now has the runs, so who knows what is going on. When DD was teething she would just seem to have teeth pop up no problems, but J is suffering so may be it's that, may be just a bug. Hope that Oli is better soon and his tooth comes through quickly.

Berry - we got J one of those aqua draw things, but it would seem that he has hidden the little pens, so now we have to wet our fingers instead!!

My Sis took my Mum to see the Strictly Come Dancing Tour on Saturday and the company my Sis works for is involved with the actual show so she wrangled back stage passes and my Mum actually got a kiss from, and her picture taken, with <a class="break-all" href="http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=www.revellation.co.uk/RICKY%2520WHITTLE-1.jpg&imgrefurl=www.myspace.com/our_carmel_mcqueen&usg=__D1ujelga8ZOr_LXbCC1Q6ZJILvY=&h=1536&w=1024&sz=747&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=nYM1i9C1vcHEfM:&tbnh=129&tbnw=86&ei=omg0Tca5B4W0lQfWqojdCg&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dricky%2Bwhittle%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1024%26bih%3D421%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C16&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=554&vpy=39&dur=2374&hovh=275&hovw=183&tx=107&ty=152&oei=U2g0TbK5LpT94AbBy_GIAQ&esq=14&page=1&ndsp=13&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0&biw=1024&bih=421" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Ricky Whittle (from Hollyoaks).Grin Apparently she was petrified when my Sis asked him for a picture! My Mum is usually very restrained, but watched Strictly last year purely to see Ricky Whittle's chest!! She'll be dining out on that one for years!!Grin

peachygirl · 17/01/2011 19:55

Hi everyone Things Ok here sorry I haven't seemed to have been about very much.

crapbarry · 17/01/2011 21:35

Original Barry - I've made the sausages with horseradish mash and stuffed apples (yummy), the piri piri chicken with custard tarts (chicken was ok, tarts were lovely!), and the scallops with sweet chilli rice followed by brownies - except I used diced chicken breast as I don't trust scallops. The last one was the best, the rice was excellent, and I'll make it again. The brownies are good too, we're still working our way through them slowly!

I've made the cauliflower and macaroni cheese before, but not with his recipe.

I'm 1/6th of the way through the 30 day shred :o I seem to have discovered muscles which I never knew I had!!

just watching glee then off to bed in the hope that we'll get more than 5 minutes sleep - nearly crashed on the drive to work this morning I was so tired. hope y'all have decent nights.

BerryLellow · 18/01/2011 11:02

:o original barry!

I may have to use that you know!

I find Jamie's recipes the easiest of all the TV chef people. Nigella is ok, but sometimes they go either spectacularly wrong or just taste a bit...meh.

I really need to remove the cellophane from my shred, this is shameful.

crapbarry · 18/01/2011 11:33

I think I'm upstart barry if it helps :o Oli got 2 new Czech bee toys for christmas (he already has 1), which have been named 'Original and Best Cmelda', 'Upstart Cmelda', and 'Wishful thinking, but you're staying in the cupboard Cmelda' :o

I love Jamie's recipes - have never had a failure from one of his, which I have from others (Delia being a key example). Plus, his style of cooking suits me - very haphazard, pinch of this, handful of that - much better than '105g and NOT A MILLIGRAM LESS or your cake will DIE' that Martha Stewart seems to favour.

Do the shred, it's surprisingly fun :o DH was a bit Shock watching me do it yesterday, as he's comitted to do it on the 31st of jan if I keep it up until then!
