So the last thread could be used as proof that September 09 (and an August!) parents were kept far too busy by their babies to talk about them very often! Shall we see if we can get this one done before second birthdays (eek, 2 is so big) are upon us?

Grrr, no more snow here. So Xmas Envy of all the FB updates of loads of snow! Just 40 miles away where my Mum and brother live they have 9 inches of snow!! We have about 1cm. Xmas Hmm

Sorry to hear of all the snot, Berry. Hope you escape it and they all start to feel better soon. DD has been deathly pale all week, bit of a cough and a bit grumpy, so I've kept her off nursery today for a rest day. Probably good that we don't have much snow as she'd want to play out in it!

Christmas all sorted here. Just a few presents to wrap once they arrive (did the last bits online) then all done. My Dad wanted a terracotta rhubarb forcer (don't ask!) for his present, so it is currently taking up my whole hallway it is so big! Think it will be there for the duration as I can't move the bloomin' thing! Ordered the turkey at the weekend, too so that's sorted. Just hope it is big enough!

kveta · 02/12/2010 13:12

we have snow (which I'm already sick to the back teeth of), and it's cold, so I've spent today googling snow shoes (I've found and fallen in love with these) istead of working.

not wanting to jinx our recent sleeping pattern or anything, but Oli has slept through for 2 nights in a row now - and 3 nights this week Xmas Shock Xmas Shock Xmas Shock! I think my mum must have had words with him. he's also started cuddling his lamby teddy bear which my grandma gave us when I was expecting him - it's very cute to see them snuggled up in bed together!

christmas nearly sorted here - just got in laws to buy for which is always a bloody nightmare - not because I don't know what to get them (I do) but because it always takes DH until the very last minute to agree that this is a suitable gift for them. considering their wedding presents to us (FIL got us a socket set so heavy it takes 2 people to lift it, and the car audibly groaned when we hauled it on board, and BIL and his girlfriend got us a packet of tea and a book on the art of war. in czech) I'm not overwhelmed with a desire to find them the perfect gift, but hey ho.

better get back to ogling my boots Xmas Grin

(why is there no [fbear]? imagine Bear with a wee red hat on!)

BerryLellow · 02/12/2010 13:41

Xmas Grin 'a packet of tea and a book on the art of war. in czech' Xmas Grin

kveta · 02/12/2010 13:46

you laugh barry, but it was the oddest thing we got. Made slightly less odd by the fact that we'd been round town that day (the sunday after the wedding) and there were 2 shops open. the tea shop and the book shop. Xmas Grin
the present was still in the book shop bag too.

ChutesTooNarrow · 02/12/2010 14:24

We have LOADS of snow (sorry ladyem Xmas Grin)

I want to go out in it but Gabe is ill. I am not really sure what is up with him but for the past two days he has gotten incredibly hot, with a temp hitting 39. He was also sick on tuesday. No other symptoms though, he is a bit whingy and clingy until given some calpol and then he is sprinting around the house as normal Xmas Confused He is demanding constant breastfeeds though and I am getting a bit sick of feeding him constantly.

I have really bad cabin fever and hope DP leaves work early enough that I can go for a wander through the snow.

Does the Xmas Confused smiley look a bit wrong? Is it just because I have the OP posts highlighted?

Xmas Confused
ChimneysTooNarrow · 02/12/2010 14:36

Oh poor deflated non-festive confused smiley Xmas Sad

Ladyem · 02/12/2010 16:17

Hmmph, snowed all afternoon and it didn't settle at all. No need for snow shoes here!

Chutes - sorry to hear Gabe is poorly. Having a high temp can make little one's be sick. (And adults, too!) When my Mum had a really bad viral cough earlier this year I rang NHS direct as she had a temp of 39 degrees and they said that she would feel really grotty with a temp that high and just as they said that she thew up! Soon as the paracetamol kicked in and took her temp down she felt much better. Lots of my friends have said that their kids have had some weird high temp thing, feeling off, but nothing specific, so may be it's a virus doing the rounds. Xmas Sad

Well, I've been so bored today that I have done the food shops for the rest of the year on tesco.com and sorted out my own christmas present! Xmas Grin

peachygirl · 02/12/2010 17:01

Tons of snow here.

I'm still not sure what we are dong for Christmas. It will involve stayng here. MIL may come but DH has given her the choice of staying at home and having her friend Malcolm to visit (DH is not ready to ave hime to us yet)or she might come to us.

I did suggest we might go for beef instead but he was most put out and was adamant about the turkey.

Anyone have post today?? we didn't have any yesterday either and are waiting for about 13 parcels from various internet orders!

HollyBerryLelloHoHo · 02/12/2010 18:10

We had post but no couriers which I'm v Xmas Angry about as I was hoping J's angel wings were going to arrive. I'm going to have to do something with tinfoil at this rate Xmas Hmm

I'm a bit Xmas Shock that of all the books they chose to give you as a celebration of your marriage it was The Art of War! How.....romantic

I'm sorry, it may not be appropriate, but 'her friend Malcolm' also made me giggle a bit.

Ladyem · 02/12/2010 21:03

Oh bum. Just putting DD in the bath and she is covered in a rash. Noticed she was getting a bit blotchy at about 6.30pm and she's been off colour for the past few days. May be chicken pox, or hopefully just a viral thing. We have to wait and see!! But I now and itching in sympathy!

Kvets - have you actually read that book? Grin It sounds like a tough read!! I wouldn;t mind the tea bags, though! I love a cuppa!!

Berry - Is J an angel in the school play, then? I'm looking forward to those things when DD starts school!! Fingers crossed his wings come in time!

We've had post all week, but then again we haven't had much snow Xmas Grin

kveta · 03/12/2010 10:26

hope DD is ok ladyem!

we haven't read the book, no - no idea where it is actually. and the tea was loose leaf black tea, so not even tea bags. Especially odd since DH only drinks green tea, and I don't drink any tea at all.

hope gabe is better soon too chimneys (I knew that would be your christmas name change!! I can't really change mine, unless anyone has any ideas?)

bloody freezing here again, stupid office. have to type fast to keep my hands warm.

Xmas Confused does look odd, I think it's because his hat is crumpled and not red. I'm still sad there's no [fbear] Xmas Grin

kveta · 03/12/2010 10:54

ooh, just saw there's a snowman in the mumsnet logo!

Ladyem · 03/12/2010 11:26

Well it seems to be one of the mysteries of childhood illness! She was covered on her torso and arms last night and some on her face, but today she only has a few spots on her back and tummy, probably 3 or 4, but her face is swollen now! She woke up at 5.30am sobbing that she didn't feel very well, so I calpoled her and she fell back to sleep for a little while. The weird thing is that she keeps complaining of tummy ache, but seems to have developed a huge appetite! Must be some virus or other. Glad it's not the pox!!! Xmas Grin

The weirdest wedding present we got was from a couple who lived in the south of the country and it was large photo in a frame of the place that they lived! Very nice place, but it was about 70am wide and not really relevant to us or something I want on my wall!! Xmas Confused

Hey Kveta - just noticed [fbear]

HollyBerryLelloHoHo · 03/12/2010 12:31

Wings have arrived! Yes, J is an angel with all of the reception children, we're going to watch on Monday afternoon

I'd just like to add [fbear]

kveta · 05/12/2010 09:42

we've got the 1st molar coming in here, so no sleep, again. back to square one. plus i'm battling insomnia.

hope you're all having a nice warm weekend! [fbear]

peachygirl · 05/12/2010 19:31

Hi everyone It's my birthday, help yourself to a slice of cake

ChimneysTooNarrow · 05/12/2010 19:57

Happy birthday peachygirl Grin I hope you had a good day.

I came bouncing into this thread earlier ready to loudly hurrah my amazing news, but due to kveta's lack of sleep I shall instead quietly whisper the following:

My son slept for 5 (five) FIVE hours in a row last night. From midnight to 5 (we won't talk about his lack of sleep before midnight). He then had a feed and slept until 8.30. Amazing.

Of course I woke every hour, but as my DP charmingly told me this morning, we can 'fix' me at a later date Xmas Hmm

kveta · 05/12/2010 20:46

yay gabe!! a step in the right direction at last Xmas Grin!

nice cake peachy Xmas Smile did you make it yourself? hope you had a lovely birthday!

nothing much new here, except we're hoping to complete on our house on december the 17th all quite terrifying!!

and [fbear] because I want to maximise my opportunities to use [fbear] before he goes back to being Bear again Xmas Grin

kveta · 06/12/2010 10:12

may I just have a quick whine here?

Oli went to bed at 7 last night, was absolutely beyond knackered. He woke up at 9. And went back to sleep at 1am, after screaming for the whole time - I fed him, gave him calpol, and tried to cuddle him, and he just screamed and screamed and screamed, then the minute DH picked him up, started chattering away. We are both fed up to the back teeth with the little sod. And it wasn't helped by there being some roadworks done at 1 am across the river from us. Not a good night.

Trying to take him back to the GP to get his ears checked, and if they're fine, he's screaming himself to sleep tonight (in a controlled manner, of course!)

Hope gabe slept last night chimney!

Ladyem · 06/12/2010 12:08

Oh Kveta, so sorry you have such an awful night. I hope that the Dr is of some help and it is something that she can treat to make him happier and more comfortable (and to give you all some well deserved rest). Who on earth was doing roadworks at 1am?? Here's hoping for a better night tonight.

DD seems to have made a full recovery and is back to tormenting J (see FB photo of 'Flamenco Boy' for proof!! Grin ), so who knows what it was.

Just been out and it was -5 degrees!! Village looks very lovely and festive with all the fog and frost everywhere.

peachygirl · 06/12/2010 20:29

So sorry to hear about the terrible night. Pretty good birthday, Cinema and a bit of shopping with dh. We are going to see Stuart Lee tomorrow

kveta · 06/12/2010 21:19

GP said to drug him up more, ibuprofen AND calpol together, anytime he whimpers, drug. Xmas Hmm GP was bloody patronising too, but never mind, I've doped Oli up to the eyeballs, and he has finally conked out!

very Xmas Envy that you're seeing stewart lee peachy!!

loved the photo of flamenco boy ladyem Xmas Grin

can you believe we've made it to 500 posts before christmas!!

[fbear]

Ladyem · 07/12/2010 09:05

Did you have a better night, Kveta? Bloomin' patronising GPs Hmm why do these types of people go into this profession?

Glad you had a nice birthday, Peachy!

J seems to have turned into a pterodactyl and has taken to screeching whenever he wants something! Much preferred it when everything was just 'Dah' Xmas Hmm. Trying to ignore the screeches, but he is so loud! Makes me jump every time!

Starting to feel very festive as Santa came round the village last night (collecting for charity). We were just starting bath time when DD said that there was music coming from her bedroom, so we looked out the window and there was Santa and his sleigh! Well, she was so excited we had to quickly put clothes back on and run outside before he went! Xmas Grin I now have even more ammunition for when she is mis-behaving as now Santa has seen where she lives!!Xmas Grin (I did have to quickly make up some story about why his sleigh was being pulled by a car rather than flying, though!!)

Playgroup closed today as their heating system is rubbish and the poor little ones would be frozen, so a couple of jobs to do in the local town, then nice cosy day inside!

Hope all are well!
