So the last thread could be used as proof that September 09 (and an August!) parents were kept far too busy by their babies to talk about them very often! Shall we see if we can get this one done before second birthdays (eek, 2 is so big) are upon us?

OP posts:

CoffinsTooNarrow · 15/10/2010 17:45

but I don't understand the FB thing

BerryLellow · 15/10/2010 20:55

Chutes, that name is fully freaky :o

Look at my profile, someone's left me a message that might explain it :)

BerryLellooooooooooow · 17/10/2010 18:54

Tonight I am mostly planning to cry at the TV Wink

Hope all the poorly tinies are on the mend

CoffinsTooNarrow · 17/10/2010 19:26

I get it now Grin How exciting!

Name is a bit grim but it has inspired me for a good Christmas one. I don't even like Halloween but I will do anything if there is a chance of a prize. DP and I have such a row every year about answering the door. He always does even thought we have nothing to give, and it's usually a bunch of teenagers anyway. He says it's not polite to ignore the door and I say it's not polite to knock on a complete strangers door and demand sweets in the first place. Although it may be a different this year as we live in a lovely place rather than the shitty inner city suburbs of yore. I am still going to be a misery and sneak a 'baby sleeping, do not disturb' sign on the door.

Speaking of babies sleeping mine is, and has been since 6.45. I am shocked. I was so knackered I thought I would bath him and get him into jammies early at 6, and then he looked tired I thought I would try and see if he would sleep and he was so obliging! It's taken until past 9 the last week!

How is everyone else's sleep? Can people talk to me about naps please? We appear to be dropping one in the day but it changes day to day and there is no consistency.

peachygirl · 17/10/2010 20:03

Hi I still have one poorly child, DD1 her ear has got worse again I have a spray for it but It's getting harder to get it in her ear! She has been waking in the night and coming into us. DH find this very hardand she always wants to lie on top of me which isn't always too comfy in the early hours of the morning
Zoe's much better though!

LJ29 · 17/10/2010 20:10

Oh dear that doesn't sound good at all poor little thing.

Harry has a stinking cold. After much snot wiping he now has a red raw nose which hurts him when I have to keep wiping it.

Maybe by July they'll all be better? Hmm

kveta · 17/10/2010 20:40

let's not discuss sleep... oli is such a little turd at the moment. sleep not good. DH actually said he thinks I'm getting PND as I'm so snappy - I pointed out that a year with NO sleep and an irritable toddler will make anyone snap. Grr. We've just worked our way through a bottle of very nice Czech wine we were given as a wedding present though, which makes life seem altogether rosier. Naps are all over the shop just now - ranging from 20 minutes to 3 hours in a day, and 1-3 naps total. We have a routine in place, but he basically says 'fuck the routine! let's party'

Oli has a cold too LJ - it's that time of year, isn't it? I can feel it hitting me too. hope Harry and your DD are better soon peachygirl and LJ.

chutes, would your christmas name involve chimneys in any way? :o my name is useless for seasonal chnages. I though kvetaaaaaaargh! might work, but may have to just change my username altogether for better chenging opportunities. what halloween outfits do you have for your littlies? Oli is going to a party the childminder arranged so he's going to be a turtle.

hmm, wine hasn't gone to my head at all Hmm best get another glass and settle down to watch the secret millionaire! :o

BerryLellooooooooooow · 17/10/2010 22:13

What a lovely man :)

AprilMeadow · 17/10/2010 23:21

Hey there ladies!!
We are really pleased with it! Lots of shit thrown at us this week but the throwers have realised that they needn't have got their knickers in a twist!
Dh is a bit upset that his car didnt get shown LOL Mine however is a different story :o
I thought it was very weird to see how much the babies change in just 6/7mths. Am convinced they tweaked my voice to make me sound more posh!!

Will go catch up now :) xx

kveta · 18/10/2010 09:38

that was such a lovely programme April - even DH was wiping tears from his eyes (and this is the man who didn't even cry when his son was born. seriously - last night was the first time I've seen him cry. think it was the alcoholic fathers that really got to him - FIL is killing himself slowly with alcohol and it really upsets DH that there's basically sod all he can do to help him). you must be so proud of your DH, he came across as a pretty incredible person :) loved the bit about keeping the local reprobates out :o there was a (very) short, very nice paragraph in the Guardian TV section on saturday about it if you want a copy? could scan it and send it you way if you'd like (if you don't already have it)?

kveta · 18/10/2010 12:34

ooh, can I just hop up and down squealing here please?! we just had an offer on the house we viewed last week accepted!!! :o am a tad bouncy now, which will make the rest of the day interesting for my office mates :o

blue76 · 18/10/2010 12:51

April wow what a hubby you have! DP was silent through the whole programme (very rare).

Coffins Grin What is sleep? Amelia has 1-2 hours a day and if she has a nap after 3pm that's nightime buggered...She likes to stick her fingers in DP's eyes and pull them open while he's asleep (yes, we are still co-sleeping!)

Peachy I hope dds are better now!

Re. b/feeding link on fb, I'm hoping the SIL didn't agree with it. It really did make a shocking read though.

Amelia driving us insane atm. She started walking a week after her 1st bday and her favourite haunts are the nappy/kitchen bin/dog's bed....

Her new word is "nooooo". Used when she doesn't want to be moved away from a bin etc. She says quite a few words now but still chatters away in her own funny language. She seems to prey on people who don't want to give her the time of day, but feel that they have to respond to her in some way. Grin The face she pulls at old ladies when they start prodding her is priceless...you can see her thinking 'sod off, who ARE you?'

Anyhoo, I hope everyone's ok. Tis freezing and windy here today!

blue76 · 18/10/2010 12:52

Kveta that's great news! Smile

BerryLellooooooooooow · 18/10/2010 13:30

Fantastic news kveta, hope it's all plain sailing from now :)

AprilMeadow · 18/10/2010 13:43

YAY Kveta!!!! How exciting :o

CoffinsTooNarrow · 18/10/2010 21:18

Fab news kveta! [hgrin] [hgrin] [hgrin]

Ladyem · 19/10/2010 07:52

Wow! I go on holiday for the weekend and I miss everything!! [hgrin]

Had a lovely time and the weather was fantastic all weekend DCs were quite well behaved (apart from Sunday night when we just basically threw them in bed as we'd had enough of them!) so I think we'll brave a week away next year!

Did make time to watch Secret Millionaire on Sunday night, though! April, you must be so proud. Your DH was fantastic and I thought that chose wonderful people to help. I loved that lady from Talbot house!! She was fab! Truly inspirational programme.

Kveta - Yay!!! That is fantastic news! You must be over the moon!

Coffins - Fab Halloween name! Mine is rubbish for name changes! [henvy]

Blue - thatnks for the FB friend request! Xmas Grin

Hello to anyone else I've missed! [hgrin]

Hope all the poorly babies are feeling better soon. It's rubbish this time of year for illnesses.

Right, off to start the washing mountain!

BerryLellooooooooooow · 19/10/2010 15:37

aaaargh, can't get any Ashton & Parsons teething powder anywhere Why didn't I stockpile it when I had the chance?!

Hello Ladyem, glad you had a good time :)

kveta · 20/10/2010 10:06

let me know if you still can't find any A+P tomorrow berry - there was loads of it in the shops at the weekend, and I'm sure I could get you a packet! it seems to have no effect on Oli, so we don't use it much.

glad you had a good break Ladyem, and that you were lucky with the weather - it's gone awful cold here all of a sudden today, so I'm sitting at my desk wrapped in about 18 layers and shivering! I've got a miserable cold too, which is developing into sinusitis, what a delight.

Just found out today that my contract is unlikely to be renewed, so will be debating with DH tonight whether to try and get another mat leave out of it before it ends Blush I was planning to wait until the contract is up and the new one starts, but we'll see. God, that sounds cynical, doesn't it? I've got to work this weekend, and have to do a seminar presentation in a couple of weeks, so am panicking a bit. should prob work for a while now :o

BerryLellooooooooooow · 20/10/2010 17:11

Apparently there's a shortage of it, as they are having 'technical difficulties' at the factory Confused

None at any of the Boots here - they are selling it on Amazon for 9.99 a box! It would be utterly wonderful if you could find some, Mads appears to be cutting 4 teeth at once and he quite likes the stuff! I can paypal/transfer money/pay you in magic beans, whatever suits :o

I don't know whether I should encourage you one way or the other with your maternity planning! I will say I would lkove to coo over other people's scan/baby pics to stave off my own broodiness though! Wink

Mads has found a new toy... the dog's water bowl Hmm He was sitting in it earlier while my mum was in hysterics :o

kveta · 21/10/2010 09:44

well I'll have a wee look later on - but have 8 left in a pack we're not going to use if you want them. I'd be happy to pop them in the post for you later today.

BerryLellooooooooooow · 21/10/2010 09:47

You're a star, thank you! :)

God it's cold today, I've actually ordered some winter hats.

Ladyem · 21/10/2010 13:28

What do these teething powders do then? I've never tried them. Hope that Mads is feeling better soon! I think J has another one on the way as he is very rosy cheeked and dribbling like a gud 'un!!

Have DD off pre-school today as she had an upset tum yesterday evening :-( (although in between her dashes to the loo she was eating cake! Figure that one out!! Confused ) She's fine today, but though it was best if I didn't send her just in case as I drives me mad when friends send there DCs to school/nursery when their kids have been ill in the night then wonder why these things keep going round and round! (Sorry, a bugbear of mine! Blush )

Anyway, think I may have nearly finished my Christmas shopping! Yay!! Just started putting stuff on ebay to make room for all the stuff the DCs are going to get. And fingers crossed I'll make enough to buy DH something nice for his birthday! Grin

Kveta - GO FOR IT!!!!! You might as well get another mat leave out of them!! I'll encourage you all the way! No more for me, but I will encourage all those around me!! Grin What did your DH say when you put it to him? Would be a nice age gap by the time the baby arrives! (Will stop now!)

Berry - I know what you mean about them finding a favourite thing to play with. J seems to love the cat basket at my dad's and rubs his face right in the bit where they have moulted fur!! Nice!! Grin

Freezing here, too but the sun is out so a lovely day. Might have a walk out later to tire them out.

Oh, and speaking of walking I nearly forgot! J has gone from doing a couple of wobbly steps to walking across the entire living room!! Grin Grin He was doing it all yesterday and I think it must have tired him out as I put him to bed at 7pm and didn't hear a peep out of him until 8am thins morning! So DD and I had a nice bath and sorted breakfast out before he got up. Wish he's do that every day!

Hope you are all having a lovely day!

kveta · 21/10/2010 17:38

got you some barry! 2 packs - last ones in town! I went to sainsburys, boots, tesco, lloyds pharmacy, and then on an off chance tried my little independent local pharmacy - and got the last 2 packets in town! the pharmacist said they were like gold dust :o anyway, let me know where to send them, and they're yours - 2.60 a pack, and I'll throw in the 8 sachets we've got left for nowt [hgrin]

BerryLellooooooooooow · 21/10/2010 17:51

Oh you hero, I've just fb'ed you [hgrin]

I can't believe you went everywhere like that, so kind! So how can I go about re-imbursing you?
