Oh and Dog - sorry - DD is a couple of months younger than A I think. He is October isn't he? DD is end of December. They'll be in the same school year I think. But then you'll have one in every year won't you? Grin Wink Haha, know how much you love those jokes. Did I ask you if you've got a TV already?! How do you not shoot people who say stuff like that?

Where is number 4 anyway? Does he not know we're all waiting for a lovely birth story?

hackneyzoo · 02/09/2010 13:30

Good luck with the job hunting Lenni... are you going for Assistant Head of Inclusion types things, down here inclusion managers seems to be attached to SMT. I am too lazt for such ambition Grin

MissJ, have my fingers crossed for good results tomorrow. Scans seem amazingly clear these day, its breathtaking to see. Glad the heart thing looks pretty positive. Looking forward to seeing you and N in VP later....as been well over a year!

Tree Teddies from heaven These people will track down any toy...I used them when DD lost her bunny and it was discontinued...it took her a month but she did it and no comission!

Pat, how was DDs first day? Is she starting reception? DD is starting pre school nursery (year before reception) in a few weeks but she is very ready and excited.

Right, gotta shift and get down to Vicky park..

moosemama · 02/09/2010 13:56

Was going to say 'morning all', but it appears to be nearly two o'clock! How did that happen?

treedelivery · 02/09/2010 14:25

Oh Moose - how horrid. The GP'a will do zero without the notes, it's true. Sad The wheel is in motion though, which is way more than was happening last week - which is a ood thing. So I guess just keep saying that to your sister, that she has done so well and been very brave and not to panic now.

I hope ds1 got over his glitch and went on to have a good day. I can't wait to get mine back, no doubt you feel the same. Have to stop myself quizing her for details, so will have to content myself with watching her like a hawk for sgns of stress. I cried on way home too.

DD2 has only 3o mins to nap, happily she went straight off on me..

I spoke to Jellycat distributer about sleepy bear, who said there were none to be had. They released a new sleepy bear so the old is a defunct pattern Sad This is Bluebell with it here and here clearer. If anyone knows the Halliwels offer Geri andy amount of money to any charity she likes for that bunny! Grin

Lenni · 02/09/2010 14:53

Facebook/twitter might help Tree - do Jellycat have a page?

Sorry your sister hasn't had a smear yet, am sure the clinic tomorrow will put her at ease even if they can't do it there and then. Like Tree says, the wheels are in motion.

HKZ - The inclusion post is same as a SENCo really, just in a primary so far fewer pupils and less responsibility as result, not SLT. Same as where you are in secondaries here, inclusion posts tend to be SLT, so no chance of that with tiny DCs, but asst SENCo was what I did before so will hopefully find something similar, although I don't want to go back to being a paper filer like I was before! Ideally I'd like a job in a Special School, but there are only a handful left round here so slim pickings job wise.

Lenni · 02/09/2010 14:53

What is acid aspiration?

tinkhasboughtoutalltheshops · 02/09/2010 16:21

afternoon

poor dd tree Sad

funny how some schools back already wish dd1 was she is driving me nuts

moosemama · 02/09/2010 17:39

Tree, I will keep an eye out for your bunny/teddy.

Lenni, basically acid aspriation is when stomach contents (ie acid etc) come up an then go back down in the wrong direction ending up in the lungs. This can obviously cause burning to the delicate lung tissue and if it occurs over a prolonged period can lead to infections and even pneumonia. The most common presentation is when people turn up at the docs with a persistent cough, but people with this problem also present with sore throats as the acid coming up the oesophagus can cause burns and irritation at the back of the throat. (Ds1 constantly has a sore throat and has repeated tonsil and throat infections and we have just found out he has acid reflux.) I just thought it might be worth mentioning baring in mind H's historical digestive problems. Also in the back of my mind I was thinking about how she always seemed to prefer sleeping upright on Tree's chest rather than lain flat and wondered whether it could be silent reflux because of that.

Lenni, come and be our SENCO pleeeease. We neeeed you! Grin The school has a vacancy and the Headmaster is currently acting SENCO until they can find a new one - this despite them knowing the previous SENCO was going to retire last July Hmm. I know its a slightly long commute, but I would provide lots of home baked goodies and coffee and could even look after ds for you while you were at work. Wink

Well, both boys had good days. Ds1's day went ok, except for the girl I mentioned earlier being a proper little madam and bitchy to him - but that is par for the course over the years and I've told him to ignore her, as she is obviously just not a very nice person. Had a quiet time since they came home and they are currently having their nintendo time. So all good here. Phew! (I seem to be saying that a lot lately don't I!)

How was dd's day Tree? Pat?

Hi Dog

Am very impressed with all your cooking and baking.

MIL brought round 3 bulging carrier bags of cooking apples and a massive bag of plums the other day - anyone got any ideas as to what I should/could make with them.

I used to make a gorgeous german apple tart, but it seems so long winded to make these days that I never seem to get around to doing it. (Its also absolutely loaded with calories - but worth every one of them.)

I need simple quick recipes, particularly for the plums, so that I can use them all up before they go off. Not keen on stewed fruit with custard or icecream, although that would be the easy option I guess.

teaandcakeplease · 02/09/2010 18:48

today was a better day for my SIL and nephew

I won't retype it in here if that's ok? as I'd like to make a cuppa and attempt to tidy up the toys and wash up. I'll be back later Smile

Lenni · 02/09/2010 20:25

Could I have the German apple tart recipe please Moose m'dear, if you don't mind. Grin I love that stuff and have never found a good recipe.

About to read your post on other thread Tea...

Dog, how cute, only 25 days between them.

DS has had a terrible fall. Bruised from his cheek to the top of his forehead but bouncing about like a loon still. I was up for A&E, DH said they would laugh at us. He's going to have a cracking shiner in the morning.

Lenni · 02/09/2010 20:25

Moose - think it might be just a tad too far for me Grin

Lenni · 02/09/2010 20:30

Tea - that is lovely news, I hope he continues to do well. Sounds like he has turned a corner.

120 · 02/09/2010 20:32

Lenni, poor thing, hope he sleeps ok.

Tea, that is lovely news, have posted on the other thread.

Moose... could Zwetschgendatschi be what you are looking for? Haven't tried this recipe, but was brought up on the stuff and I love it. Found out MJ and I both have Germans in the family.

Lovely have MJ meet up with HZ and I in the park. Nye is very cute! It was pretty difficult to chat much with the kids off and about. DD kept getting herself stuck to get my attention, which was a bit irritating, but otherwise all behaved fairly well and the weather was fab.

Rounded off the day with a private view but am now knackered and off to eat chilli fig pasta. Will check in later.

moosemama · 02/09/2010 20:39

Tea, great news about your nephew - I've been praying for him too - well in my own way, as I'm not religious but do believe there has to be something/someone out there.

Lenni - ah go on, you know you want to. Grin I think its three days a week, so that would give you two week days and a weekend to rest after commuting. Grin

I will dig out the recipe for you. Haven't seen that particular recipe book for a while - but I think I know where it is. A few years ago I made it so often that I knew the recipe without looking in the book, now my brain is overfull of the minutae of every day life with three dcs and I struggle to remember my own name half the time Grin

Poor ds, I remember this stage so well with my boys. I don't think ds2 in particular was ever without a bruise somewhere on his head as well as some corking scabs and other gorgeousness. Have you got some arnica cream? If so, smother him in it. I swear by the stuff. We get through tube after tube of the stuff and it always does the trick. Also you could crush some arnica pillules to give him if you have some.

120 thank you, that recipe looks just the ticket. Will have to get hold of some yeast if I'm going to try it though.

missjackson · 02/09/2010 20:54

Tried to post earlier but wouldn't let me load... grrr... too much chat today to catch up but just wanted to share good news - results came back early, all fine, and we've got a baby girl it seems! Phew, what a relief. Funny to know so early and 100% that it's a girl.

Was in the park with hkz and 120 when I got the call, so they got to see me crying Blush with relief! We had a fab time - it was lovely to see you both and your gorgeous children, and N is suitably knackered now; what a brilliant park!

When did you 2nd timers begin to feel your baby move? 13 weeks is too early right? I am sure I felt something just now.

Lenni · 02/09/2010 21:01

What did I tell you MissJ? Grin Grin Grin I knew you'd have a girl, so many tell tale signs. Does this mean no Jackson? You'll have to have 3. No, 13 weeks not too early for movement. Although MW laughed at me when I told her I could feel DS moving then, but I COULD.

3 days would be lovely Moose.

Will have a look at that recipe in a mo, I can taste it already.

treedelivery · 02/09/2010 21:04

Hi all.

Have done that thing where you read caarefully, nodding and smling as appropriate, then come to write and can't remember a thing.

I remember Ds had a bad fall Lenni - hope he is ok. WHat did he do?

Also that the baby is doing better today, which is great. It takes time, it's all progress. Everyday makes them a bit bigger and a bit more mature, even if it isn't such a great day. They are always going forward in terms of maturation Smile

DOG - maybe you will labour now the pool is here. Grin

Will think on the idea of reflux. That's a good thought Moose, because I'm a bit Shock that she has yet another chest infection, also an ear infection too. No wonder she is mardy. Maybe she is prone from months of acid reflux. Hmmm.
Mind you, her diet is totally crap. I thought dd1 was fussy, at least she ate readybrek!! Her immune system must be crap. SHe is on antibiotics now, and the nicer non-banana tasting one, so hopefully all will be well. I can't face anymore night time temperature traumas.

Glad they had good days Moose. We had tv time after school too.

I am loosing money everwhichway. My mobile bill is huge again, and I spent £20 today on bugger all. Got the echinacea and some day nurse to try deal with my sinuses, some bread and yogurt. Posted two nappies and that was it Sad Going to be a loooooong month. 2 days into my pay and it's nearly all gone Confused
Spent my hoarded nappy money of dd's ballet fees. Oh well. Only money.

AM trying to see if can find anyway of getting onto our roof cheaper than £420 on scaffolding. To do £50 of work. Pah.

I don't think we can afford a party for dd1. I don't dare tell her. She hasn't any special friends who really like her, except one boy who is a total love. So I don't feel I can do the small birthday tea thing, we talked about it and she wanted to invite all the girls who are mean to her to get them to like her Sad What do you do? I'm a bit worried about her at school and all this social stuff.

treedelivery · 02/09/2010 21:06

Yay for that great great news MissJ. A girl! And all is well with the cvs. Lovely lovely stuff.

Lenni · 02/09/2010 21:15

He was running down the slope in our garden after a football and his body got ahead of his legs. Toppled over as they do straight onto his little plastic chair, and hit the deck hard. Poor little mite has a bruise the size of a satsuma on his head and another small one on his cheek which he has cut. No swelling though and he was running around, up and down the slide for well over an hour afterwards so I gave in and put him to bed with some arnica cream. I was loading the car for A&E but DH talked me down.

He has also grazed his arm today from rolling (deliberately) off the grass bank onto the concrete a foot below Shock Hmm and he's still sporting a scratch which runs from his wrist to his elbow from deliberately tipping up his little tikes car. What am I going to do with him? Why wasn't he a girl?!

Tree - what about going somewhere with her and letting her invite her friend. Maybe the cinema to see Toy Story or something?

treedelivery · 02/09/2010 21:22

Ah but the H-bomb is a girl. There is no one like her for lack of respect for gravity. It's not even that she is clumsy, She means to fall flat onto the floor. For fun.

Sounds scary, he did a good job on it!

I'm worried that she won't get any invites back, if we don't invite some girlies. She has only been invited to the whole class parties. None of the smaller ones. Sad

But I was thinking that I could do a steady routine stream of tea parties. One a week or a fortnight, depending on shifts/state of the house. I have even bought cure little invitations to keep me motivated HmmBlush

120 · 02/09/2010 21:24

fig chilli pasta twas sublime as always.

MJ sorry I should have given you a great big hug when you got your news, but as you say, when you first meet people in RL it's a bit odd and I wasn't sure what to do (obviously being the shy and retiring type doesn't help Wink). Really fab news though and lovely to have a pink one!

Tree, the social stuff is really hard. I already dread it. Are there any story books on making friends/dealing with playgroud 'gang' culture which can help her understand it and come through it with her head held high? I had to deal with something similar as was very different to all the girls in my boarding school class at 10 as I hadn't really lived in England for long and didn't have much culturally in common with them. Am still pleased that I went my own way and made my own friends in time, rather than just pandering to the crowd. Stood me in good stead for life really.
