you are right. maybe she is busy with her art? Ray never came back after getting married either.

hackneyzoo · 01/09/2010 19:04

Moose, sorry to hear what your sister is going through, hope she gets positive news from the doc.

Lenni, I completely agree with 120 that , although work and kids is tough, it is so nice just being you and not mummy for 8 hours of the day. I don't find working full time too bad, but holidays every 7 weeks help!...especially the summer ones. Next Sept DH and I have struck a deal that its my turn to stay at home with the DCs.... am feeling sligtly nervous about that....he is great with them, super patient....and I'm...not as patient!

Pat...how was the first day of term? Or is it tomorrow? Hope it wasn't too harrowing. Tomorrow is my last day of hols,

Dog, I think Chef was off on a trip to Vancover or somewere. Did the pool get there?

tea, how was the hosp? How are your brother and SIL and DN doing today?

Am in a state of mild exhaustion here. Jude was very good at the hospital, even having his GA with minimal fuss [proud mummy emoticon]. We get the MRI results on 16th. He got discharged at lunchtime so we all went off to Coram's Fields for the afternoon. J managed to drop Baybay, his beloved stinky bunny wen we got off the bus, so DH had to scour Hackney for him, but some kind soul had put him on the church steps! Both DCs fast asleep by ten to six! me to follow shortly!

hackneyzoo · 01/09/2010 19:05

120...I have a haircut in ANgel in the morning and need to have a hunt about in ANgel to find a b'day pressie for DH, but afternoon tea somewere in VP or City Farm with you guys would be a lovely end to the hols if you are about..

teaandcakeplease · 01/09/2010 19:11

I went for chocolates in the end. Saw nephew but kept wanting to cry seeing him in there. They prick his heel every 8 hours and he whimpers as they touch his foot as he knows what's coming after Sad It was horrid to see him like that. Babies are meant to be in their mummies tummys not in this plastic box with a eye mask on, UV light and being fed through a tube.

SIL changed her epileptic medication when she got married to one that was supposed to be safe for pregnancy and BF and lo and behold they're now making her hand express the colustrum but not feeding it to him, as they're trying to find out if it's OK to give it to the baby. So SIL is feeling a bit cross about it all. Baby is having formula right now. It was horrid seeing him like that and my brother is still very upset about it all as well. SIL holding up better.

It's all a bit shit really and now I finally understand the agony other parents have whose children go to scbu. It maybe 6 weeks until he comes out they told them yesterday, which is so hard on them, imagining him being prodded, poked and pricked everyday for 6 weeks still Sad I've got all my church friends praying for him. It's completely completely crap!

hackneyzoo · 01/09/2010 19:34

Tea, it must be hard seeing your tiny nephew in the SCBU. I guess you have to look at the six weeks as being necessary to make him strong and ready to go home and as he is so tiny he will have no memory of it.Little ones are so resilient and he will be home before you know it. Sorry everyone is going through such a tough time.

Tree, how are your DDs doing? Hope both are feeling better too.

teaandcakeplease · 01/09/2010 19:41

I have a friend whose child was prem and it did leave its mark on him. He didn't like his foot being touched long after they were home and was very sensitive about all sorts of things for a long time after.

No matter how much you try and have a vision for the future about it all, it doesn't work. I don't think even my brother will feel better until he's home Sad

120 · 01/09/2010 19:52

oh tea, that is so sad. It is such a difficult balance as they have to keep monitoring them. We'll have to get a baby massage poster to her so that he can have some lovely positive touch on his feet. Both of mine adore their feet being stroked or massaged.

HZ I'll be in VP tomorrow arvo from lunch time onwards as I've got a friend meeting me for lunch with her tribe. Join us when you are ready! The bag of maternity clothes is ready to pick up by the way so if you are driving anywhere tonight or tomorrow, I'll text you their address and phone number to sort it out?

hackneyzoo · 01/09/2010 20:06

120, that sounds good. Will prob drive to Vp tomorrow so could pick up clothes then. Baby massage poster is a good idea! Was busy massaging J's feet at the hospital today, he loves it, think they find it very calming and reassuring.

Tea, I know what you mean about it being difficult to visualise the future. One of the best pieces of advice I was given when J was in hospital a lot earlier this year was to take each day as it comes, and as painstaking as that is, it does help and the time does go by.
Have your DB and SIL got emotional support from the hospital and people they can talk to about thier situation to help them cope?
If it helps at all J's experience with hosp as a baby seems to have made him quite resilient if anything, however this is very different from being on SCBU as he was about six months before it all started.
How is your nephew doing today? Has there been any change?

Am being an internet slut this evening whilst ignoring all the dull RL things that need doing...like the piles of washing to put away...

120 · 01/09/2010 20:14

I've been hanging out on the oven pride thread of all places. Didn't post though, that would be a step too far.

tinkhasboughtoutalltheshops · 01/09/2010 20:20

evening

tea - bless him xx

hkz - glad hosp want to bad

treedelivery · 01/09/2010 20:24

Oh Tea ((((hugs))))

Very Envy at London people dropping in to see each other. Envy

HKZ - am in awe at how you deal with all the stuff that Jude has on. God, I had to drive a bit and I nearly fell apart. I'd be sooooooo crap.
I'm really glad he took it in his stride - roll on results day when all will be well and he can continue to be 'observed' with their 'wait and see' and 'conservative management'.

I hate all those phrases, can you tell Grin

Full of cold, much mucous. Bad nights as dd2 kept waking up in a sea of snot. I have the most pathetic white skin, a good few nose blows and the skin is red raw and breaking. I'll have impetigo by, lets say Sat/Sun. Just in time to feel horribly ashamed at work fro my long day monday, night Wed. Off to hunt for some old antibiotics I might have lying about Grin Do not try this at home Hmm

hackneyzoo · 01/09/2010 20:50

Tree, urgh, all those empty phrases, its the same in education too. Sorry about snot overload.... have a nice cup of green tea and some of those horrible tasting herbal drops. Bert's Bees baby bum cream works very well on sore red noses.

120...is that a bread baking thread or is it actually about how best to clean your oven? Grin

Right, my friends sister is this amazing knitter artist person and I am allowed to chose a wrap at a discount. Have figured they will be fab for pregnancy and BF in winter months...but can't decide which colour. Unfortunately can't try on as they are based in Brighton.
www.cardigan.ltd.uk/collection-index.php?co=Cardigan%20Classics&s1=3in blue and cream or watercress green? I am erring towards green...

treedelivery · 01/09/2010 21:08

Oh how lush. Get her to knt a small slit in it and you can wear it over a sling, like a babywearing poncho Grin

I like the double flower cream. Of the two you chose, er, oh blimey they are both lovely. Probably the stripe. Or the green. Either is good.

Not helping!

PatTheHammer · 01/09/2010 21:14

Hello, still here but in a mad rush as first day back for me today, eurgh! (although no students as INSET). Also getting DD ready for her FIRST DAY tomorrowShock

She is cool as a cucumber........I am quite emotional, and panicky!

Back tomorrow as my day off so should have some time after school run(Eeek!)

Moose- yay/sad for AF but bet relieved

Tea- have read update on nephew, hope it al goes well. Tree and HKZ have given some excellent advice. Every little thing seems so scary to the family though so thinking of you.

Lenni- What jobs you looking for?? Do they not have a pre-school room at DS's nursery? E went to combined private nursery and pre-school for a bit of variety.

Right I must get an early night, good luck to any other DC's returning tomorrow or friday x

moosemama · 01/09/2010 21:32

Evening all

Just finished all the pre first-day-back-at-school prep and will shortly be off for a bath and early night. (Am dreading having to get everyone up and out tomorrow morning, we haven't been getting up until 8.15/8.30 in the holidays.)

Tea, so sorry to hear how upsetting it was seeing your little nephew in SCBU. Poor little mite and his foot - on top of everything else he has to cope with. Sad

HKZ, glad it all went smoothly for J at the hospital and you had a nice afternoon. Phew for finding bunny as well. How thoughtful of someone to put him on the church steps. When ds2 lost his bunny, a gang of teenagers were playing football with it in the street until another boy had a go at them saying it was obviously some little chid's much loved toy. He rescued it, took it home, washed and dried it and then saw our posters asking if anyone had seen it, so got his mum to phone and ask where to bring it back. Lovely boy, restored my faith in human kind - for a while. We wanted to give him some money as a reward, but his mum said a bar of galaxy would be enough. We bought him two of the biggest bars we could find. Grin

Those wraps are gorgeous. I fell for the double flower cream one too - but then I'm a sucker for a bit of shabby chic. Of the two you are considering I would probably go for the blue/cream stripe. I'm not a big fan of certain greens though, due to my secondary school uniform consisting of three different shades of it leaving me with a permanently sickly applearance throughout my tender teenage years. Blush I love the ribbed flower scarf in the sale section - oh to be rich enough to afford such lovely things.

Tree, oh no, all three of you with a horrible cold. It always happens doesn't it, you have a big shock/trauma and your body just gives up fighting and gives into the first bug that rears its ugly head. You my girl need plenty of warm drinks, a blanket, lots of paracetamol and to hole up with dds until you are all feeling better. Does dd1 have to go back to school this week?

Hello Pat and Moose.

DD back to school n the morning. Dh leaving at 5.20 to be at work for 6, to raise funds for roof work. So it will be a huge shock to system, getting us up, fed and out for 8.25.

I had high hopes of floating up to the gates with lovely new hair cut, looking rested and sun-kissed [No17 bronzing pearls]. Unlikely. My hair has that greasey lank look only your period and a common cold can bring.

Oh well. If dd gets through day without poo in her pants all will be ok. One battle at a time.

Really lovely to hear of these bears reunited. We never got the bunny we lost in Bruge back Sad She still talks about it. Bluebell Halliwell has one - if I moved in such circles I could offer her mum a fiver for it Grin
So yeah, if anyone has a jellycat bunny in flowery pj's...let me know!!!

missjackson · 01/09/2010 22:41

Hi all. On phone so no posting but have been keeping up and just wanted to say good luck to e for first day at school tomorrow! She will love it I am sure. How on earth will you keep it together pat when you have to say goodbye?! I am in tears just thinking about it!

Had scan at fmc today. They found a leaky heart valve which apparently by itself can be ok but is a marker for downs making my risk 1 in 60 so had cvs there and then. They are so amazing at that place and the scan was so thorough. Results on Friday so fingers crossed.
Then will worry about heart thing but it does look fairly positive from my mini google session.

Home tomorrow but am sorely tempted to stay in London and come to vp to meet hkz and 120 instead! 120 lol at night bus, I always knew it was a good night when I ended up on the night bus.

120 · 02/09/2010 09:02

mj do come and meet us if you are still down here! So sorry to hear about valve, do try not to worry. Good that you got the cvs out of the way there and then so you have the smallest possible amount of time to worry about it all. I have a couple of friends who have been through this, tis a bit of a rollercoaster. Everything crossed for you here Smile.

Tree I have a jellycat white bunny but it has no pj's! Ours is called mr pickles.

and definetly the watercress Grin

treedelivery · 02/09/2010 10:39

Hi all.

1st day back. Sob. There are some school issues I won't go into, so I have concerns really. But she seemed happy, she said she was excited and nervous. She is so well able to express herself. I like that about her. Smile

DOG - cvs is chorionc villus sampling, bit like an amnio but takes some of the placental cells so can be done earlier Smile

MissJ, am sorry for your stress, although sounds like you had a satisfying visit and it was all dealt with well for you. Only hear amazing things about the FMC. I hop eyou enjoyed the scan regardless of the heart news, bet you got amazing views.

Have a great time in Londown all of you EnvyGrin

H at GP at 11.20. Naturally she took ages to nap and is now in deep slumber Hmm She spked a temp last night a couple of times so I'm a bt concerned. Her cough is grim, maybe her chest is infected. She had one a while ago much to my surprise.
Bit skint but will try drag unmotivated arse to town and get some echi-whatsit for my ladies, and generally try get some air. Have been captive since Thursday really.

Hope dd has a great day Pat. She will. You will feel like lost soul, or are you at work?

Lenni · 02/09/2010 11:23

Hi Tree. DD back too, she was also nervous and excited. They have to go in a different door now which caused a lot of not sureness, but she will have had a ball when I pick her up from GPs later I'm sure.

Hope H is okay, seems to be a rollercoaster for her at the moment.

HKZ - All those options look lovely. I can't make a decision for toffee right now so will be no help but I do like the green one.

MissJ - Will keep everything crossed for you until tomorrow. Let us know when you get news, so pleased you got a really good scan though. You sound very calm, which I'm taking as a good sign. I know nothing about heart valves etc - now we need Pat.

Moose - hope you've managed to get your two off to school okay this morning too.

Thanks for work advice 120/HKZ, I am ready for a proper job again. I love my babies but I don't feel the need to be everpresent in their lives anymore, they are little people now. Plus I'm getting old, have to get my career back on track soon!

Pat - hugs for DD's first day, hope she has a ball. There is a preschool room at DS's nursery but I think it would be too babyish for her now. Not sure what to do. Am vaguely considering seeing if we could find someone to come here after MissJ suggested it and could share costs with my sister. My PILs are brilliant but they are so unreliable with being away so much so would have to think of a longterm solution once she starts school too as no afterschool clubs or anything round here. Hmmm. Am applying for SENCo/SEN type stuff mainly so same as I did before. I have applied for one as an Inclusion manager but no chance I'll get that as primary. Would like to do something a bit different though but always seem to be full time posts and now I've made the decision to go for them can I find anything... no! Sods law.

Best go, doing DH's accounts, very slowly.
