DS has woken up with a swollen eye - out of no where. It looks like conjunctivitis and he's miserable. He last had conjunctivitis in April. Anyway he seems even more unhappy this time about it. Washing it out with cool boiled water, much to his disgust and shouts and have given him some ibuprofen as well. Any other suggestions? He is so unhappy Sad and I'm going slightly mad too as I want to to just fix it and can't...

moosemama · 24/08/2010 12:43

Hi all

Absent last night as was in bed at 8.00!

Books, nope DH didn't pass comment and the boys had to be prompted by Mum to say "you look nice Mummy". Hmm

I think I scrubbed up ok though and was pleased with my hair and make-up - oh and of course my Mum said I looked beautiful, bless her.

Dh is being a pig in general and we had another row about the 'maybe pg' last night before I stalked off to bed. I think he is going through a mid-life crisis as he's 40 next February. He seems to be fed up of having to be a responsible father, hates his job and resents not being able to just sit when he gets home in the evening, so obviously another baby would make things worse. Also I am catching out as he has had a lady foisted onto his team at work as his team was the only one with a vacancy and she is due back from maternity leave. Unfortunately she is renowned for being hopeless at her job and has been off for almost two years as she had hyperemesis so was signed off for most of the pregnancy then took a years maternity leave. His incredibly supportive comment to me last night was "what you don't understand is that with every baby you lose your wife for two years and everything gets out of control". So apparently everything that's wrong in our life is my fault for having babies. Err I think there were two of us involved with that weren't there?! Angry He is a pig, pig, pig and even my Mum (who usual loves him and takes his side in everything doesn't like him much at the moment. Thing is, even is I turn out not to be pg I'm not sure things will be the same after his appalling attitude and hurtful comments. Sad

Anyhoo, am feeling quite a lot better today, very tired and a bit queasy, but my sinuses are much better.

Dog, have posted on your other thread again.

moosemama · 24/08/2010 12:49

Sorry, missed the last page somehow.

Tea, I will go and read your thread a bit later, daren't spend too long on here as dh is being such a pig about the housework etc I need to get stuff done today. Sorry to hear about ds's eye, adding a small amount of bicarb to the water might help, but it sounds like he probably needs antibiotic cream or drops from the gp.

Stripey, sorry to hear such sad news. Hope you are bearing up ok, its a strange feeling when its someone you used to know well and have lost touch with, but you are still entitled to grieve. ((hugs))

Right, must off, am doing a full spring-clean on the boys room today Shock - lord help me! Fortunately Mum is coming round to help/field dd later so I'm not totally alone with the chaos.

moosemama · 24/08/2010 12:52

Blush Sorry folks, I really should preview before posting.

What with hardly any punctuatio and loads of typing errors etc you can hardly read my posts. Can you tell my mind is elsewhere at the moment? Blush

teaandcakeplease · 24/08/2010 18:45

Have to agree with DOG Moosey, time to revisit the convo on the snip. As it's a fairly simple procedure for a man, unlike a woman. Know lots of friends who've had it done including my brother. It makes sense, he's in denial Grin

Hope you're ok tonight. Been a looonnnnggg day here with Mr Grumpy. Gawd love him, he's in bed now, as is DD. Phew! Taking to GP tomorrow if things aren't improving though.

Well, I have just sat down. Finished the boys's room at 8.30 pm! Shock So they were both late to bed. BUT it is absolutely sparkling and every single toy and random scrap of plastic whatnot has been sorted collated and refiled. Also persuaded them to get rid of a fair few toys, so I am feeling quite pleased with myself.

The reason I have only just sat down was that there's a large double cupboard in the boys room that dh filled with stuff from our old home office when we were expecting dd. We decided the other day, that as we hadn't looked at or needed any of it for over a year, we had better sling the lot. So, I emptied it all out - onto our bed - doh! Then I discovered it did need sorting, as it included a lot of my old canine studies research and lots of our qualification certificates etc, plus some stuff from dh's old design business - double doh! Still, 'tis done now, we have binned a lot of it (4 bin bags full) and the boys now have all their board games in the cupboard which has really helped with storage in their room.

We were intending to do it on Sunday, so we are a day ahead of the game this weekend and hoping to finally get going with dd's bedroom.

My back is killing me and my bad foot is bad, but its good pain iyswim. Well worthwhile pain anyway.

Am off to see the orthopaedic consultant for a follow up on my foot tomorrow afternoon actually. Am hoping they don't want to xray it again. I know they give you those lead aprons, but I wouldn't feel right having an xray, just in case. Actually when I had the first two sets of xrays done, they didn't ask if I could be pg and did the xrays without offering me an apron. Hmm

Dog, I think HKZ is still abroad, Pat is at her brothers and iirc Lenni said they were having phone issues so couldn't get a connection at home and her phone has had to go away to be repaired or summat.

How are you doing tonight? Any more twinges? Suddenly realised earlier that I didn't know whether or not the baby had turned cephalic. I assume it has though, as you are going for a home birth?

Morning Dog and Tink

It does feel good to walk into the boys' room this morning - such a sense of achievement. [sad Moose emoticon]

Sounds like all three of us have been in house-sorting mode this week.

Tea - ds1 has woken up with a huge swollen eye this morning as well. The whole of the white area is bright red and its swollen right out all the way up to his eyebrow. Have him booked in at the GPs at 11.20. Am now panicking about Toxicara after that recent news story about the little girl that caught it in a local park, as his eye looks very similar, my dogs are due for worming and ds has been playing out a lot over the summer. Also he has obviously been playing on the beach a lot and there are always the idiots that don't clean up after their dogs. We always clean up as soon as our dogs go, but I worry in case we missed something. He has also been having major night sweats (until his hair is dripping wet) and apparently that can be a symptom. Shock I'm sure its just a minor eye infection, but I can't help but worry.

Had an awful night last night, after a relatively good day. Woke up at 4.30 and had to run to the toilet thinking I was going to throw up, then spent the next 2 hours curled up in bed feeling sooo sick. Sad Just feel slightly nauseaus - and obviously very tired, this morning.

Right had better get my butt into gear. Dcs are all still in their pjs [slack Mummy emoticon].

teaandcakeplease · 25/08/2010 11:18

Oh dear Moose hope the eye is nothing serious. Sounds good all this sorting Tink and Moose, always satisfying to do.

DOG the weather here is rather grey too Sad Have fun with your sister and friends, at least it'll break the day up a bit. Hoping it doesn't start raining, as I'd like to get out for some fresh air.

moosemama · 25/08/2010 16:34

Back from a rather medical day.

Ds1 has an infection in both eyes, which thankfully rules out toxicara as it would only be in one eye if that was the case. Gp gave him the usual antibiotic eye drops.

I managed to get in to see the senior partner, who is very good and while we were there I raised the matter of ds's reflux and the fact that he has been vomiting back a little bit of food after the occasional meal, especially if for example, he bends over to pick something up. The gp went through it all with us again and he feels that ds most likely has a hiatus hernia! Shock The anxiety has increased the acid levels in his stomach and the two things together have resulted in the reflux and vomiting. So we have to keep a diary of his symptoms and their severity etc with a view to possibly being referred for endoscopy. Poor little lad, he's had enough to contend with this year already what with all the gluten stuff and ASD related appointments. Ironically we received his first dietetic appointment today as well with a view to getting a better quality low-what diet.

It was quite an eye opener at the appointment, as ds was quite communicative at first, but by about half way through had obviously had enough and gone off into a world of his own. He's been spacey ever since as well. I think the drs addressing him directly was a little too much for his to handle. Mind you, he'd have been fine if they's wanted to talk about nintendo games. Grin

How is ds's eye today Tea?

Just got back from my orthapaedic appointment as well. The remaining damage is pretty much all tendon and ligament. Particularly the ones that curve in front of the ankle bone and continue up the outside of the shin. They are still significantly swollen and I'm supposed to rest with my foot elevated as much as possible - yeah right! Hmm I am fine to give up the crutches though, but can use one of my Mum's crutches if its been particularly painful and I have a long way to walk. Bottom line is, that it will be at least another 6 weeks until the ligaments and tendons are healed and will continue to be quite painful in the meantime. He also said it will continue to hurt on and off for the next 12 months. Hmm

Ah well, onwards and upwards I suppose. At least we had a nice lunch out with Mum between appointments. I was a very proud Mummy, as all three dc's behaved beautifully and dd charmed all the waitresses and a few passers by to boot. Grin

tinkhasboughtoutalltheshops · 25/08/2010 16:44

afternoon Grin

mm - you have had a busy and eventful day !!! Hmm

poor ds 's eyes!! glad he has some medicene
your foot sounds like it is on the mend Grin
dont know how they expect to to rest itHmm

dd1 has come back kicking off already why does she always behave @ nana and grandads then mess us around she has been crying

teaandcakeplease · 25/08/2010 16:54

Moose - My mum and dad are retired pharmacists, they have a cat who tore her Achilles tendon and we were told she'd need an operation, however with enforced rest and we also bought this for cats she healed really fast. Have you thought of buying some? Certainly shut the vet up Wink May help you too?

Sorry Tink DD is being tricky Sad

DS eye vaguely better today, found some eye cream of his from April, after speaking to mum, she said use it and see within 24 hrs if it's improving, if not go to GP. She said that you're not meant to keep eye antibiotics due to the risk of cross contamination and bugs on the end of the tube, but she said it should be ok but to bin it after this time Blush Oops

moosemama · 25/08/2010 17:32

Thanks Tink. Sorry dd1 is misbehaving - overtired perhaps? My boys always come back exhausted after having loads of fun at Grandma's house. I also distinctly remember my own Grandma telling my Mum that we were good as gold until she arrived to collect us and then all hell broke loose. Grin

Tea, I had forgotten all about that mix of supplements. In my old 'doggy days' I used to recommend it to everyone with old/arthritic/injured dogs and even my Mum and Step-Gran started taking it as a result, but hadn't even considered it for myself. Might have to wait until the end of my dreaded 2ww though.

Dh's Aunt used to be the head pharmacist for a very big, very famous hospital, but we rarely think of consulting her for some reason. Daft really, as she is probably our favourite relative on that side of the family and has always been extremely helpful on the rare occasion we have approached her.

Good to hear your ds's eye is a bit better today. Ds has drops rather than cream. I thought they would be harder to adminster, but we have managed ok so far. Probably due to all my years of experience with ds2, who at one point was having 10 drops 6 times a day, plus a rigid lid cleaning regime. He was only 3 1/2 the first time we had to do it and then 4 1/2 the second time around, poor little mite.

moosemama · 25/08/2010 17:33

Just thought. I will recommend it to my mate who snapped his achilles tendon back in April as well. Poor bloke still can't get his foot into a shoe.

teaandcakeplease · 25/08/2010 17:39

I have to pin DS down to do them and he hates it.

DS has taken to biting his sister lately on another note, not good.

teaandcakeplease · 25/08/2010 19:10

Gah! Isabella was sooo naughty tonight and I got so cross I spanked her bottom Shock Bet Tree won't think I'm such a kind mummy now Blush Feel completely rotten now Sad

moosemama · 25/08/2010 20:28

Oh Tea, we all snap occasionally and you are under such an enormous amount of pressure.

Been there - got the tshirt.

Please don't be hard on yourself - you are only human and you ARE a lovely kind mummy, you just had a bad moment. ((hugs))

teaandcakeplease · 25/08/2010 20:54

I know, my biggest trouble is always forgiving myself when I got mega cross. I feel guilty for hours after their bedtime. Had to just have a stern talk to myself as I was still agonising over it all. We had a big hug and a chat at bedtime but I still feel bad Sad

I did buy 3 of the books on here we talked about ages ago about mummy's loving their children no matter what. She does love those books.

teaandcakeplease · 25/08/2010 20:56

Sorry typos Blush

tinkhasboughtoutalltheshops · 26/08/2010 09:18
