meglet I need to see photos!!! Grin

Have made an appointment to see the pre school attached to the primary that ds1 starts at on monday....they can provide 2 mornings per week which is what I want and they only have 15 children and 3/4 staff!!

Will be watching strictly it takes two on bbc2 at 6.30.....anyone going to join me?????? Grin

Pacita · 12/11/2010 19:38

Meglet please pop by and take a chunk. The fridge in the new house is pathetically small and I'd hate it to go off. A 2 kilo brick of feta, lemme tell you, looks HUGE.

The lady did indeed bring clothes. Beats me. But even more that she got away with it on British Airways!

I am so happy to have some help that I am even putting up with being told what to do in my own house! She is lovely.

CappuccinoCarrie · 12/11/2010 20:49

bec I watched it. O.M.G Aled, Len and Craig with one trouser leg up, was nearly crying with laughter!
We've got date night tomorrow so I'll catch up on all the strictly action over the course of the following week! Surely its Anne's turn to go....?
Thank you for your kind words on the other thread bec Grin

becaroo · 13/11/2010 08:04

That was a bit surreal wasnt it???? I loved Aled when he was in it. I wont post on the result so it wont spoil it for you....

As for my "kind words"....I completely agree with what you said.

dh and I had a date night last night but it was so cold and wet we stayed in and watched TV curled up together on the sofa!

digitalgirl · 13/11/2010 10:21

I wish we could have a date night this month. Dh has buggered off to work this morning and not told me what time he'll be back Hmm.

pacita MIL sounds like she's fulfilling her grandma role perfectly

carrie sorry bout af, but looks like you have a good plan in place. How's snagging going, all done?

bec I have ds in with a Childminder couple, so there are up to 6 children there - bit like a mini-nursery. They also do trips out in the morning, usually to a playgroup. He only goes once a week at the moment but I think it's a great stepping stone to nursery/pre-school.

Wondering what on earth to do with ds today. We have london's parks, zoos and museums to choose from but I just feel too lazy and pathetic to venture too far from the house. Cbeebies has been on since 9am.

becaroo · 13/11/2010 20:28

Hi digi I think Toby would like eiter tbh although he has a virus today Sad

Ds1 has been in tears tonight about going back to school Sad and no doubt we will have tears tomorrow and on monday morning.

Havent slept the last 2 nights and dont suppose the next 2 will be much different....

sigh

DebiTheScot · 13/11/2010 21:41

We've had an epic day out today. Went into London to show ds1 parliament, downing st etc and to go to 'dinosaur museum'. Discovered when we got there that we didn't pick the best day transport wise- lots tubes off for engineering, roads closed (so buses off) for rememberence stuff tomorrow & later more tube closures due to fire alarm. But it was a great day anyway. Walked through poppy field at Westminster Abbey which was quite emotional, had a nice lunch where everyone ate lots, saw lots of dinosaurs & animals, ate a big bit of choc cake, taught ds1 all about government, wars, royal family & dinosaurs and was waved to by the queen!

ninja · 13/11/2010 22:21

I thought I'd never catch up - but not being a SCD watcher (kids to put to bed, h who likes footy, never any time ....) it was easy!!

Pacita - that sounds fun, I'll take some feta too yum yum.

Bec do you go to toddler groups? 'Cos tbh that's all pre schools tend to be like with a few more structured activities. It might be a good idea to use a CM if you think you might need the place for pick ups and drop offs, but otherwise I wouldn't worry.

Do you ever think you're going cray? Quite a common occurance here but M really had me going the other day. I'd just emptied the dryer, folded the clothes and put them on the stairs ready to take up. 5 mins later I went into the utility corridor to find the dryer full and on!? I wasn't sure if I'd dreamed emptying it, put them back in in a fit of madness. I emptied it again and remembered taking the clothes out before so I thought I was having sever memory loss until... I found M with an armful of clothes on her way from the stairs!! Grin

I have to say she does love being helpful though, clearing away, washing up Hmm,

Just been the the local remembrance ceremony at our local church and memorial with my beaver pack...lovely service. The sermon concentrated on a local man who was killed on Nov 22nd 1943 after his plane crashed over France. His name was Dean Adams. He was 20 years old.

Toby has got tonsilitis Sad He had a temp of 40 degrees at 3am this morning. Been to the walk in centre and got him some ABs and painkillers.

This is just what I need this week - Toby has great timing...last time he had this was on Ds1's b day.

debi Sounds like a fab day Smile

Am purposely not mentioning SCD last night so I dont spoil it for carrie and I realise some of you think I'm mad dont watch it Grin

Well, off to try and get Toby to sleep for while.....

becaroo · 14/11/2010 12:04

...why doesnt the strike through EVER work for me??????????

sigh...

Pacita · 14/11/2010 18:10

LOL becs, we don't think you're mad. Enjoy SCD! Also, hope toby gets well soon, and very much hope DS loves his new school.

Ninja come and help yourself to a slice of feta!

Today we got up at 9:30 (bliss to the nth power) AND had lunch cooked for us. OK, I get told what to do a lot, but it is wonderful to have so much support. You do really forget how much grandparents help when you live abroad.

So, as I am energised by food, sleep and iron tablets I got on with hanging curtains on Diego's room..... we've been in the new house 2 months and I only got round to do it today!

Meglet · 14/11/2010 18:33

bookmarking.

DebiTheScot · 14/11/2010 20:34

Good luck tomorrow Bec Smile
Oh and you have to do the -- before and after each word, not round the whole sentence.

digitalgirl · 14/11/2010 21:18

Good luck with the school run tomorrow bec. Is DS1 feeling any better about going? Poor Toby too! Hope the ABs work their magic.

debi braver woman than I venturing into town on a weekend.

I've had a very lazy weekend, broken only by going for a run this morning while dh took ds swimming. Nearly back to my pre-bfp fitness level, so hopefully cycles should kick back in soon. Got a bfn this morning just to make sure. Potentially I could build up my fitness quite a bit over the next few months if I'm not ttc, might even have to set myself a few targets.

CappuccinoCarrie · 14/11/2010 23:30

All the best for the school run bec]

Its ok I've seen SCD and the result now, you may discuss! Good result I think.

DH off to America this week so I drowned my sorrows with wine, SCD and results show (and doing the filing so I can produce all the stuff for my tax return tomorrow and make my mum think I keep things stored properly like she taught me how Wink) Have stayed up far too late coz I hate going to bed on my own :(

My brother is also popping in tomorrow on his way up north for work, parents have no idea he's coming so it should be fun! Will boot dad and dbro into garden to build the playhouse which has been sat staring at us in all its flatpack glory for quite a while now.

Got to brace myself for doing the morning and breakfast with the kids on my own, I find that the hardest and worst bit of the day. Am truely pathetic.

Will come on here and see how bec and her DS get on tomorrow

eandz · 15/11/2010 02:23

Morning/Evening Ladies,

I'm up with N who has another fever cold +. I've watched all of Jack Johnsons music videos on repeat since 7pm. (N LOVES JJ).

Does Lollyheart still post?

*and some of you were on my fb, and I deleted you because I a bit of a stalker scare that really just turned out to be nothing. anyone wana be back on my fb?

CappuccinoCarrie · 15/11/2010 09:50

I wondered what had happened to you on fb eandz! Jack Johnson = legend. I know very very little about music, but I do know that!

bec how are you...?

Bad night's sleep last night, sooooooooooooo cold and no DH there to keep me warm :( And DD cried from 6am for no discernable reason. Parents arrive soon, I'm wondering how soon after they arrive is too soon to sneak off for a nap?!

Am trying to pursuade DS that the plane he's playing with is not, in fact, the exact plane that daddy is on.

Will crank up the heating now

eandz · 15/11/2010 10:26

:)

so ladies, N wont take his medicine. am I suppposed to keep holding him down and squirting the syringe down the back of his throat/to an angle ?

this is way too traumatic for me. help?

Pacita · 15/11/2010 10:50

Sorry to hear N is poorly eandz. I have actually been known to use the immobilise child then squirt syringe method. It's traumatic indeed, but I find that lying them on your lap helps. I guess if medicine is going to get him better, then it's gotta be done. Not fun though.

eandz · 15/11/2010 11:35

Pacita

he hates me. maybe i'm doing it wrong. i feel like what i'm doing is child abuse. it's been like this since he was born. i had to immoilise

aren't things supposed to get easier? in any way? we've only JUST stopped giving N his reflux medicine 5 times a day.

Pacita · 15/11/2010 12:53

sheez, it must be hard, eandz. I only have had to do squirties on Diego very rarely, so I don't know what advice to give. I think as long as you know you are doing what is best for him, that's what counts. Do you take turns with your DH? I find that's helpful, as it presents a consistent front, adn it means you are not always bad cop.

eandz · 15/11/2010 13:12

Dh did the evening rounds, but he would come out shell shocked from having to fight with N to get the meds down.

We couldn't take it anymore, housekeepers we hired to help couldn't give him his medicines anymore. So we begged my sisters to move to London to help out. They did it, but couldn't really accept it either.

Then all of a sudden he stopped needing it. His tummy one day just didn't gurgle- his back didn't arch, he didn't spit up for an entire day so we reduced his medication to 4 times a day-- kept happening and eventually we tapered down to none. (which I am very, very, very grateful for)

but do you think that the trauma of having to take medication 5 times a day, every time that had to be forced down has left my 2yr old with post traumatic stress syndrome? some of his meds we could get away with by mixing into his milk, but others we had to give on their own.

i literally get clammy and go cold all over thinking about having to give him anything with a syringe. do you guys think i should see someone? i really think i'm falling apart-- and really it's just a cold thats going around.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/11/2010 13:12

A good method is to SLOWLY squirt the syringe into the cheek. Slide the syringe passed the clamped lips, along the teeth, then into the cheek.

Have you tried a spoon? DS started to resist a syringe but is fine with a spoon.

Also, what medicine are you using? Wherever possible I use the ones with sugar in, the sugar free ones taste vile.

I hope N feels better soon.

How did it go Bec? Are you sitting in a corner going through your second box of tissues, or are you wondering what to do with yourself?

Put a blanket on the bed tonight carrie. It was chuffing cold here last night as well. When is dh back?

eandz · 15/11/2010 13:16

i've only had to give him calpol these last two days.

i haven't had to give him reflux meds for 2.5 months actually. (not even renitidine!)

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/11/2010 13:16

Just seen your lastest post EandZ. I'm sure having to take medicine for so long has taken its toll (on all of you).

If someone was shoving something in your mouth umpteen times a day, you'd be pretty pissed off wouldn't you? It's really hard that lo's aren't capable of understanding that you are trying to help them.

I think trying a spoon is probably the way to go tbh. Move away from the syringe.
