Yet another example of Gordon Brown's spite

If there is anything which encapsulates what a bitter and vindictive man Gordon Brown truly was, then surely it is this?

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/mandrake/7805707/Gordon-Brown-accepts-a-pay-cut-for-David-Camero n.html

I agree with cutting the Prime Minister's salary - but of course Gordon Brown didn't have the courage to cut his own salary, only David Cameron's.

But he's fit so it's OK

longfingernailspaintedblue · 06/06/2010 14:01

secunda I think you need your eyes tested.

David Cameron is worth £30 million, he's not going to miss a few grand

janeite · 06/06/2010 14:03

£194,000 to £150,000 is hardly 'hundreds of thousands of pounds' as the article claims. Poor DC - I'm sure he'll really struggle to make ends meet.

longfingernailspaintedblue · 06/06/2010 14:06

Of course Cameron isn't going to need the money. That really isn't the point, is it?

And incidentally, hundreds of thousands of pounds is correct, over a 5 year Parliament.

OP posts:
secunda · 06/06/2010 14:07

It kind of is the point. Thirty. Million. Pounds.

longfingernailspaintedblue · 06/06/2010 14:07

The point isn't the money.

It's the character flaws which led to the decision, and the manner of its implementation.

OP posts:
longfingernailspaintedblue · 06/06/2010 14:08

This isn't about David Cameron. It is about Gordon Brown.

If he lasts as long as 5 yrs.

Of course it's vindictive and spiteful.

Bloody clever as well.

janeite · 06/06/2010 14:09

'Hundreds of thousands' implies a lot more than 'around 200000 over five years for somebody who is loaded anyway' though.

I'm with Secunda. I like GB - he looks like he has been carved out of granite.

secunda · 06/06/2010 14:10

Oh boo hoo. Look around, the country's broke. I don't really give a toss how much the prime minister gets paid, since they get everything free they don't really need to be paid at all

Lauriefairycake · 06/06/2010 14:11

I don't think its anything to do with spite

more like he was cutting a few salaries towards the end

There's no way he sent off some civil servant to write up that change in the last few days

Methinks he had other things on his mind

secunda · 06/06/2010 14:12

thanks janeite, I have always harboured a crush

TheCrackFox · 06/06/2010 14:15

Did Gordon Brown organise a reduction in his massive pension pot?

Alouiseg · 06/06/2010 14:19

Well, everything that financially inept twat Brown touched turned to shite including this godforsaken country.

I expected no more from Brownfinger himself.

Alouiseg · 06/06/2010 14:19

And it looks like he's planning on working for the IMF. So that's the rest of the world ruined then!!

TheCrackFox · 06/06/2010 14:24

Maybe we should start panic buying now?

longfingernailspaintedblue · 06/06/2010 14:27

Alouiseg

Please tell me that isn't true.

And as for Mr "Granite", well, he hasn't had the courage to come back to the House of Commons since he left Downing Street. He obviously doesn't care about his constituents enough to turn up and represent them in Parliament.

OP posts:
Alouiseg · 06/06/2010 14:28

It's only rumour obviously but my source, dh, is rarely wrong although he has been known to bark up the wrong tree on occasion.

claig · 06/06/2010 14:29

typical of the two-faced repentent sinner of Bigotgate. One thing to people's faces in open view of the public, another secretly behind closed doors.

TheCrackFox · 06/06/2010 14:33

He needs to grow a pair and go to the House of Commons. He is getting an MPs salary so he could try earning it.

It's a great country but Labour have brought it to the brink of destruction by going on the biggest borrowing binge in history.

Every newborn child now comes with £20000 of debt on its head - most of it due to Gordon Brown.
