Just wondered if there are any former town / city councillors on MN?
I've just gone into my final year of being on the Council (next locals are May 2011), and I'm going to have to make a decision about whether or not to stand again by September.
I feel very torn - on the one hand, I love community campaigning and sneaking bits of policy through (my group are in opposition), but on the other hand I hate all the evening meetings taking me out of the house, and I'm getting very fed up of dealing with whinging emails about parking 'problems' and needy constituents who never give it a rest.
I'm not the resigning sort, so if I sign up again it'll be for the full 4 years... which seems like a massive and scary commitment now it's not the great rooky adventure it was in 2006-7.
So - if you've served your time on the Council, left and never looked back - any wise words on what to do next would be very much appreciated.
