Is everyone on Twitter now?

OP posts:

""The new leader will be unveiled at the start of this year?s annual conference on Saturday September 25th. "

Now having visions of H Harman pulling aside a baize curtain to reveal Ed Mil motionless, in a Greek Tunic. And those strappy sandal things.

gingercat12 · 18/05/2010 15:41

LOL at onebatmother's vision.

Hello lefties. V good article in the Graun today by Aditya Charkrabortty about markets as the new religion - here. 'Nick Robinson... never makes an intelligent point when a bad jingle will do.' Heh. Interesting discussion in the comments underneath. I really do think that CiF is becoming less feral.

policywonk · 18/05/2010 16:32

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand this book sounds interesting too

Heh Little did I know, when I chose this username, how much I'd get inadvertently namechecked.

Have you read Harvey then? I've just ordered that book (although apparently it won't be delivered until July )

That book looks v.interesting. Perhaps we could do a book swap instead of us all buying a copy?

I have many many boring politics books that I would be willing to trade as a "deposit"

ilovemydogandMrBrown · 18/05/2010 20:43

Anyone hear Cruddas on PM this evening? He isn't running, but his reasons, imho, are exactly why he should, if that makes any sense. He doesn't like the whole 'Westminster' game and seems not to enjoy the parliamentary aspect of being a politician, preferring the grassroots activity. He made a really good point, without naming names that it didn't make much sense to suddenly abandon policies that a few weeks ago, the (Labor) government was supporting. I think the inference was that the Milibands couldn't have it both ways as far as wishing to divorce themselves from the past Labor government, and that they may not be the catalyst for change.

At least this was my take on the interview...

policywonk · 18/05/2010 20:45

Sounds good ewe re. book swap. Will send up a smoke signal when I've finished.

gingercat12 · 18/05/2010 20:56

Ewe I like the idea, too, but sadly my reading (outside work and the papers) is limited to my time on the metro lately. 20 mins a day . I mainly read picture books with DS now. Or he reads to me more precisely.

two things before i go an catch up on thread...

i just burnt supper. dh gone to get curry. i don't know whether to be pissed off or happy and i'm pretty sure the takeaway option isn't strictly socialist in some way.

secondly, is anyone following me on twitter that is on here but who i have no clue who they are? onebat are you? i think I have you pol.

could you let me know (codedly if necessary).

thanks

Ewe · 18/05/2010 21:25

Did you burn it because you were Mumsnetting too much?! I have you on twitter, my name begins with apple but you follow me too so I guess you have worked out who I am!

I will dig through my books and let you know what I have that is vaguely interesting, a lot of them are very academic texts that I am not sure anyone would want to read for fun!

I have been on a bit of a politics holiday after exams and election but fully intend to get a bit more involved again now. Those of you who joined Labour around election time, have you received membership pack yet?

Heathcliffscathy · 18/05/2010 21:34

no i've only just come on here, i burnt it because i'm trying to juggle too many bloody building works balls and am afeard of dropping them! it was online payments and searching for wall brackets tonight. grrrr.

Well that is totally and utterly excusable, enjoy your take-away, even attempting to cook whilst having to manage and juggle building issues is admirable.

Heathcliffscathy · 18/05/2010 21:42

thanks for letting me know proles!

gingercat12 · 18/05/2010 22:08

sophable I am following you too with a very similar name.

Just watching last night's Newsnight. But I obviously watched Luther first. I think Idris Elba should lead the Labour party .

Prolesworth You are right. George Osborne was the serial killer in Luther. I should have known.
