....that we have a brand new Cliche Of Choice in political punditry/spokemanship these last two weeks?

'Above my paygrade'

It has definitely usurped 'on my watch' and 'not fit for purpose' and it's currently about to depose 'raft of measures' from the number one spot. Do you think all MPs and political commentators are are handed a list of newly invented cliches to use on a monthly basis, and have a score board in the pub with bonus points awarded every time they manage to get one in on camera, or in the national press?

I've been using it for years, but with the modification of 'it's above your paygrade' when I wished to complain about something, but felt the manager and not the poor sod on the end of the phone, should get it in the neck.
