Cheer up and hope for the best with good grace.
I am truly excited about the outcome of the election. More than the expenses, sleaze etc of the last few years the thing that disenchanted me was how utterly predictable ALL the parties were about blaming each other for EVERYTHING. No question was answered without sneering and baiting the opposing side. We have an oppositional system but I am delighted there is a chance to see a new kind of politics emerging where parties look at common ground whilst still being held to account by each other.

All the left-wing gloom is the only depressing thing about the new government. They might turn out to be a disaster, but give them a chance. Am I alone in embracing the sense of hope for a new co-operative era?

I think it looks hopeful, certainly more hopeful than what we had before.

I am optimistic, the Fabian Society think that a Cons/Lib coalition is a gift to Labour, come the next election in 2011 (once the marriage has ended in divorce) Labour will win with a HUGE majority.

Why am I not surprised a thread for people to be positive has no takers?

Labour had its heart ripped out by Tony Blair and his pals. Maybe Conservatives think Cameron is doing the same to the Tories. Hoping for the worst is a peculiarly left-wing trait though. Like being unable to move on from banging on about Thatcher. Like saying I hate Gordon Brown because of Michael Foot. Absurd people.

I really hope it works out, for the sake of the country.
