Sure Start Centres

This was one of the main things I was worried about if the tories got in.

But the new conservative MP in our area apparently supports the SS Centres, says they have no plans to close them and want to increase services that they have.

So how about all of you? Is it the same everywhere and was this a scare story?

I don't know the answer but will watch your thread with interest. We have a brand new SS centre about to open in our area and I am worried the rug will get pulled from under our feet now!

electra I think this was a scare story. What I have heard is happening locally is that the budget is being jigged slightly to increase funding for HVs working out of SS Centres, the plan being to make more help available for parents who are struggling.
What I believe will be cut are some free classes which are usually taken up by middle-class families who could actually afford to pay for activities for their kids.
