It looked like they were going to get married. Lovely day for it.

Bird song in Downing Street......

I think they should plan to not appear to gether too much in future at press conferences. If Nick Clegg really has his own area of of responsibility then Cameron should demonstrate that by not always being there watching over him.

Good otherwise though.

megcleary · 12/05/2010 14:58

Well maybe we should just let them try to make this work?

Extraordinary. I feel more hopeful for British politics than I have ever done before.

squirrel42 · 12/05/2010 15:16

In a childish fashion I was rather hoping they might skip out together across the lawn holding hands!

Only following the text updates with the video on mute as I'm at work, but from the summaries it sounded very promising. Let's hope this can actually work well at least short term.

Isaidheyhoney · 12/05/2010 15:24

Blimey yes. You can see why Obama said Cameron had sizzle. Did you hear the C4 question? They've had the sense to make something really positive out of what could have been a total miserable feck-up, ie a messy temporary stitch-up. Politicians able to be flexible? Thinking on their feet? Putting other people's interests first? Is that possible? Imagine if that approach spread to other areas of public life, like the judiciary!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 12/05/2010 15:30

Someone on here said that no matter who won this election, none of us would have that bubble of hope inside us that a new government can often bring. I have that today, I feel really positive about this coalition, and I didn't think I would.

vesela · 12/05/2010 15:32

I do too.

ninna · 12/05/2010 15:37

I feel incredibly optimistic. I believe their thinking and their intensions are good. It's not actually PR but as near as possible under the present system. There seems to be an incredible amout of goodwill. I think we should all support them to try and make this work.

longfingernailspaintedblue · 12/05/2010 15:43

It was very positive.

I never had any doubt that Cameron and Clegg can work very well together.

The problem is the parties. Today they are on a high, in power again after 13 years for the Tories, and almost a century for the Lib Dems.

When they have to start taking hard decisions the recriminations will start. That will be when the real test of their leadership comes.

Will the public blame George Osborne or Vince Cable when VAT is raised to 20%?

mumutd · 12/05/2010 15:44

I pmsl at DC's favourite joke = Nick Clegg

longfingernailspaintedblue · 12/05/2010 15:44

Of course, the public should blame Gordon Brown - but unfortunately I doubt they will.
