Hi.

Im not big into politics usually (although these last couple of weeks have changed that) and I looked into each of the parties through a variety of sources to decide on who to vote for.

I have just been told that the con/lib dem govt are going to take away tax credits. Not now, but are going to review the whole system in 2 years. They said it was in their manifesto, but I cant see that anywhere. Just that they were stopping for over those over £50K. Is it true?

Of course just cos I cant find where it says they will review it doesnt mean it isnt there or that it will not be reviewed, but Im just wondering where it says it, if at all.

Thanks

I think you'll find that all the major spending areas will be generally 'under review' because a spending review is high on the list of things to do. It will be all government departments, not just welfare.

Check out the full LD/Con agreement they announce later or tomorrow morning. One of the LD pledges was to abolish income tax on the first £10k of earnings and the Tories may have agreed. Both were promising to get rid of CTC for people on high incomes. So one might well counteract the other.
