Brown at Lab HQ - Ed Milliband didn't even shake his hand!

Everyone clapping, and all the other cabinet members there shook his hand etc but Ed Milliband didn't, and David Milliband wasn't even there.

Co-incidence or are the battle lines already being drawn?

I noticed that. Gordon and Sarah seemed to be moving in to kiss, hug etc though, so I thought it was them snubbing him rather than the other way round. He was there after all.

yeah i noticed that!? I thought it was a snub from Gordy too

twinkerbell · 11/05/2010 20:01

he has resigned with immediate effect so there is NO labour leader, the front runners are prob busy getting ready for battle

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 11/05/2010 20:02

I thought I had imagined it to begin with but there was definitely some chill between them all.

did seem odd

Stading near to Milliband was Jan Royall (Member of cabinet as Leader of the Lords). GB made a bee line fir her and hugged her. This made it look like he was snubbing Milliband but actually I think it had more to do with the fact she is his friend, her husband died a few days ok and yet she still came out to support him.

I feel quite sad

twinkerbell · 11/05/2010 20:12

yes I noticed that too. historic day eh!
end of an era for us all and the beginning of god only knows!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 11/05/2010 20:21

Avocadoes that sheds some light, perhaps it was that.

Look at Sarah Brown while GB is saying goodbye to the staff at Labour HQ...it's very illuminating, you get a barometer of what his real opinions might be.

I didn't notice this! He has now made it clear that Harriet Harman is acting leader.

Guardian blog says that there's been talk of a leadership election in July but may be later as they're not sure the party can pay for one so quickly.
