Why did he resign before the Tory-Lib Dem was final, despite being asked by both of them, in the interests of the country, to wait?

He will go down in history as one of our very worst Prime Ministers.

Long fingers - it was dignified and the outcome is not in doubt. Don't.

MollieO · 11/05/2010 19:59

It is a done deal so why wait? DC as PM, NC as DPM, new election within the year!

Whelk · 11/05/2010 19:59

He lacked charisma and 'show' but has integrity. I know which I prefer

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 11/05/2010 19:59

Stupid OP

legoStuckinmyHoover · 11/05/2010 20:00

...meanwhile, cameron and millionaire palls are swigging champers, snorting coke and rubbing their hands together whith flashing pound signs in their eyes and laughing like horses no doubt at all the tricks they have up their sleeves for their unsuspecting voters.

...just leave GB alone please.

weblette · 11/05/2010 20:00

Er why the heck shouldn't he go when he likes? The Tory press have been baying for him to go since last week.

Seriously, applying this kind of inane, emotional, personal language to what is a move in an ongoing game actually, really makes me cringe.

helyg · 11/05/2010 20:01

Riven, I like your style

TheSteelFairy2 · 11/05/2010 20:01

, I liked Gordon, I honestly think he did his best.

Leave GB alone? You left wingers have been attacking DC from all angles for WEEKS on here, and you still are.

TheSteelFairy2 · 11/05/2010 20:02

Wonder if DC's Bullingdon Club mates will come in and wreck No 10 to show he has really arrived?

unfitmother · 11/05/2010 20:03

What a pathetic OP

Lizzylou · 11/05/2010 20:03

He's either a squatter or he's being spiteful

What a ridiculous Op.

He really is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't isn't he?

A good exit I thought.

longfingernailspaintedblue · 11/05/2010 20:05

He only had to wait a couple of hours until the Lib Dems finalised their acceptance of the deal.

Ed Balls is confirming this live on BBC1 as we speak.

OP posts:
bibbitybobbityhat · 11/05/2010 20:05

Idiotic op.

FrakkedUpTheElection · 11/05/2010 20:06

Because in some ways it's better for DC to take power in his own right as leader of the party with the most votes and then see whether he can back it up with confidence and supply.

GB needed to go anyway as he had no chance to form a majority and therefore had no possibility, as sitting PM, to form a Govt. It is not spiteful, it is pragmatic, and I think GB, whatever else he is, is a pragmatist.

CrosswordGeekWantsChange · 11/05/2010 20:06

I wish I had taken my Mum's advice - never discuss politics, it can only ever end in tears.

I prefer to say left wingers than Labourites. Same as you/we all say Tories rather than conservatives the majority of the time.

alicatte · 11/05/2010 20:07

I guess the Queen might have engagements or something. Who knows? Let it go.

FrakkedUpTheElection · 11/05/2010 20:07

I'm totally banned from discussing politics here. A good barney is quite refreshing without having to worry about whether I'm going to TRASH DH's career.

Lessons this week have been the most fun I've had in ages.

brogan2 · 11/05/2010 20:07

FFS
You can't have it both ways. OP, you can't be on here one minute shouting your mouth off that he's squatting an should go immediately then have a go at him when he does.
Spite is as spite does as my Granny would say!

VengefulKitty · 11/05/2010 20:10

I never liked GB but I actually feel quite sorry for him and to read this on the BBC site

"Gordon Brown told Labour activists the election defeat was "my fault and my fault alone", the BBC learns."

is quite sad really.

So feck off OP!
