Check out this group just started on Facebook, in response to the gendered insults (David Blunkett saying the Lib Dems were acting like harlots being the latest example.

Do we support them?

In a hung parliament, the women are in the garden, hanging out the washing.

Catherine Bennett in the Obs this week wrote a good piece about (lack of ) women in the run up to the election.

I don't think there was a lack of women, but perhaps lack of media coverage, and in the results, a number (not sure of the figures, but Lib Dems had several) were not elected, unfortunately.

It needs a 50:50 mix in Parliament, but until working hours and other aspects change (and the public are willing to accept change), and some "leaders" are more accepting of women, nothing will change.

Perhaps with P.R. there will be a chance of more women. I seem to see quite a number in the Welsh Assembly on BBC Parliament TV, and there are plenty of local councillors, so it needs change "higher up" doesn't it.
