Hope this is ok, I was getting withdrawal symptoms!

OP posts:
MarionCole · 11/05/2010 18:17

This will ruin the LibDems.

onebatmother · 11/05/2010 18:18

I don't think a huge number will defect if they get the AV referendum. Alliance without any kind of pr was always going to cause mass defections, even a poss split - but with AV I think they'll sit tight.

The Liberal flank of the party prob not that worried about alliance with a 'soft' Tory party. And the Social democrats will find it hard to resist the siren call of real power..

LadyBlaBlah · 11/05/2010 18:20

I would imagine there will be defectors. I have emailed the LibDem twat that I had to vote for to keep the tories out encouraging him to defect. Shame that he is one of the key negotiators and definitely probably has let all the power go to his little head.

AppleTreeWick · 11/05/2010 18:36

Evenin all.
Jennilindi hope your shoulder feels better! That must have been one hell of a shock.

OK you have all clearly being boning up on AV/TVI/PR and the choreography of cross party decision making in my absence so I'm just going to pick the next post on from this one and believe that for the evening whatever position it takes. Simples!

GetOrfMoiLand · 11/05/2010 18:39

Right. Let us now sit back lefties and watch all the tory intrigue, plotting, duality and disloyalty begin.

oooh excellent get orf voyerism. This evening I shall mostly be enjoying Tory discomfort.

Seriously though 3mins I was waiting for the next post there. I thought I was going to have to name change to ThreadkillerWick: the poster who killed the Lefty juggernaut.

policywonk · 11/05/2010 18:47

This Grauniad link shows how this election would have turned out with AV. Still badly disproportionate, but an advance of sorted. LibLab would have had a workable Parl maj for starters.

Hassled · 11/05/2010 18:48

1840: There is a sense of momentum and a sense that we are on the verge of some sort of announcement from the Tories. Meanwhile, the mood seems to have lifted in Downing Street, where Gordon Brown is apparently cracking jokes with staff, the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg says.

I'm glad Gordon's happy. I do hope he's at that stage where all he really wants to do is walk away. Live in his beautiful sounding house, enjoy his boys etc.

Why had I never heard of Laura K before the last couple of days? Is she new or am I clueless?

How long do we give David Cameron?

A year tops.

I am too bemused by my feelings re Hague. I thought he seemed a top chap (when he was powerless). Now he actually has some say in how the country is run he is an odious little toad again.

I love politics

He would be a serious contender as leader again. I would be far more worried with Hague as an enemy opponent than old luncheon meat face.

policywonk · 11/05/2010 18:55

Look at the difference with STV though. Bit depressing that we're so far off proper proportionality.

Prolesworth - It is really shocking there has been no woman in all of this. I've been sulking on this issue today. Watching pigeons and thinking about sexism and power.

BecauseImWorthIt · 11/05/2010 18:57

This just in from Twitter:

"All eyes are on Gordon Brown's back door passage," reports Sky News just now. Is there no end to his humiliation?"

Blimey : rumoured 6 seats at Cabinet with NC as DL

GetOrfMoiLand · 11/05/2010 18:57

Yvette Cooper should be there.

She has gone well up in my estimation lately.

Hassled · 11/05/2010 18:58

Poor GB's arse. Give the man his dignity, FGS.

animula · 11/05/2010 18:59

I am so angry at the right-wing media.

angry and aware of my impotence.

Where are you getting your news - onebat?

scoutliam · 11/05/2010 19:00

Just marking place and catching up.
Sad day but we'll have time to re-group as a party and pull it together for next time.
