BREAKING NEWSGordon Brown says Nick Clegg wants to begin formal discussions with the Labour Party and plans are now being made to allow that to happen. He also says he will step down as Labour leader by September and will ask the Labour party to set in motion a leadership contest to replace him.

And re thread title typo.

I had the BBC election website open in another window and there was no live streaming and then all of a sudden it started playing the live statement and I thought. "Oh I'll let the MNers know".

Yes he is still prime minister and will still be leader until Labour elect a new leader.
