Where had we got to? We'd agreed that we all love Cameron, right?

Goodness, FOP. Yes - 0.5 FTE MP.

FiveOrangePips · 10/05/2010 11:28

Lib Dem 'common ground' with rivals sorry two links in a row, I wake up thinking about politics at the moment.

MmeLindt · 10/05/2010 11:31

I missed a lot of that, MrJ but recall finding it very unfair.

Seems to me that MNHQ are constantly walking a fine rope between freedom of speech and unacceptable comments. I guess that sometimes they get it wrong.

The bully thread did show that some people saw bullying in places where others thought it was merely expression of opinion, albeit forthrightly.

One interesting comment was that on male dominated fora it is not termed bullying or bitchiness, just part of the flame culture of online fora.

CatIsSleepy · 10/05/2010 11:31

no deal yet? good that it's taking a while...

happy birthday hassled! ('I spent most of it thinking "how did I ever get to be so old?" and generally feeling bitter.' Ha, I feel like that already-will be 40 next year and am brewing a nice little mid-life crisis in readiness)

I should be working, but am currently Drinking Tea

what did happen on the bullying thread? why has lenin turned into a man?

FiveOrangePips · 10/05/2010 11:32

They would keep such a tight eye on each other - surely it would sort out any fiddling of expenses - they would scrutinise the opposition's expenses pretty thoroughly?

More women would surely get into politics if they could job share?

Hassled · 10/05/2010 11:32

Franca - yes, I've had the same sense of remotivation. I was getting so "nah, can't be bothered anymore" before the Depressed Lefties rose up. At least I managed to miss a nasty sounding thread - but am aghast at the news that Lenin is in fact a breast-feeding child-bearing man .

Agree re atlantis - he/she was an asset to MN. We need people who can make well-reasoned, intelligent arguments rather than "but the Sun says so".

The BBC quotes a No 10 spokeswoman who said of the prime minister: "We are not providing a running commentary of his movements." . Why the hell not?

It was very interesting how many re-counts/close seats. If there is another election competition would be good. That also shows that its not as clear cut.

PfftThePinkoLeftyDragon · 10/05/2010 11:34

"Downing Street has refused to say where Gordon Brown and Lord Mandelson were heading after they left Downing Street earlier. A No 10 spokeswoman said of the prime minister: "We are not providing a running commentary of his movements.""

Too right, bet the man can't go for a piss without the BBC printing it at the moment.

Though I have to say, I have become rather obsessed. The house is a bit messy and we have been eating badly for the last few days. I could do with this being over. I worry about something happening and I will miss it when I go on the school run

ImSoNotTelling · 10/05/2010 11:37

have joined the green party

So , what's occuring?

Len is a man (well durrr, len, the clue was there, right?)

And someone was horrible to justa at some point in the past

Penthesileia · 10/05/2010 11:41

Yes, Pfft. Following on from the recent "news" that too much TV is damaging to toddlers, I wondered whether fulltime BBC News 24 is likely to have the same detrimental effect... Poor DD: she kept on toddling up to me and shoving the Toy Story DVD in my face in desperation, while I was saying "Sshhh, darling. Mummy wants to watch Gordon Brown...".

ImSoNotTelling · 10/05/2010 11:41

Hmm that sounds a bit flippant.

Justa I am sorry that it sounds like you had a bad time on here. I sort of remember people talking about it but it was before I "knew" you and I never heard what it actually was all about.

You are lovely though so they (whoever they were) must have been a bunch of arses.

This is reminding me of giving birth to ds. Was in labour for daaaays. 'Phone in delivery room kept going, and dh would answer it, look over to me, hooked up to many machines, and tell whoever it was, "Oh yes, it's still going on ..." and add on any teeny tiny change, or just a weather report.

animula · 10/05/2010 11:44

Sorry ... that was wrt the latest update from William Hague.

Looks a little odd, interjected into debate on freedom of speech v. stamping out bullying.

ImSoNotTelling · 10/05/2010 11:44

You have been so so calm in the face of the most terrible provocation Len, I don't know how you do it.

Must be something men are good at I guess.

FiveOrangePips · 10/05/2010 11:45

pfft me too, but I have an iphone and update on the wait at school - it is not good though, I have a party to organise for ds on Sunday and it is going to be at home, so I need to look to my own house now.

ImSoNotTelling · 10/05/2010 11:47

Tories looking v upbeat about way talks are going.

If the lib dems roll over and give up all their ideals I will be seething.

CatIsSleepy · 10/05/2010 11:59

hmm it's beginning to feel like there's a deal on the cards isn't it? I don't like the sound of upbeat tories. I prefer my tories subdued and a little depressed.

Nymphadora · 10/05/2010 12:01

Dd2 came home from her Dads last night and instead of Hello I got 'Who won?' and had to explain it again why we don't know. She is horrified at the thought of yellows and blues though. She doesn't like Blues (they only like private schools ) and yellows(want to get rid of Trident-which will have a major impact on our local area)

PfftThePinkoLeftyDragon · 10/05/2010 12:04

The Clegg backlash starts here!

What's been going on with Lenin?

MmeLindt · 10/05/2010 12:05

BREAKING NEWS

I can reveal that the Liberal Democrat negotiating team met over the weekend not just with the Tories but, in secret, with a team from Labour consisting of Peter Mandelson, Ed Miliband, Ed Balls and Andrew Adonis, says the BBC's political editor Nick Robinson. So far, I can get no official comment from either party about what was discussed.

From BBC.

curlyredhead · 10/05/2010 12:05

Delurking to declare myself a thoroughly depressed lefty. Doesn't help that I have a hideous stomach bug. Think the prospect of Tory rule has turned my bowels to water.

I am another Scot, like you HamShine I find it really hard to keep properly on board with what is actually happening in Scottish politics - can't stand either of the big papers, tv coverage is appalling... I have now compromised on one radio tuned to radio Scotland and the rest on R4. Have been resorting to R5L last few days, though, to find some ongoing coverage of Wsetminster doings.

What's going to happen???

thetoriesaretoast · 10/05/2010 12:07

BBC breaking news - the LibDems met in secret with four Labour politicians at the weekend, Mandelson, Balls, Ed Miliband, can't remember the last.

thetoriesaretoast · 10/05/2010 12:07

Sorry, MmeLindt, cross post

animula · 10/05/2010 12:08

It's just enough to keep us on tenterhooks, isn't it?
