Just heard that the local election result in Barking and Dagenham is

Labour 51
BNP 0

They previously had 12 on the council from the BNP......

and although they have won a couple of council seats over the entire country - they (on the official declarations) are already 10 down.

Great news. Labour have apparently gained Hartlepool, Liverpool, Coventry, Doncaster, Enfield, and St Helens as well!

Wow! that is good news. It strikes me that some (foolish) people have voted for them as a "protest" in the national elections, but haven't supported them in the locals, which I hope indicates that they are not really wanted.

I am so pleased! I work in that area with families (many refugees and other vulnerable people). I've come to really love that little corner of London (not the easiest of tasks, let's face it, it's not the Cotswolds!) and am so pleased that the community there has spoken out aginst the BNP

it's fantastic news isn't it - sadly their share of the vote increased in the GE and have still got 14 council seats across the UK (but has lost 22 that they had) with 125/164 declared but it's a start that people are speaking out against them
