Just starting this so that we can all post our thoughts throughout the day.

My wish for today is that as many people as possible GO OUT AND VOTE.

I cannot vote as I have been living abroad for over 15 years so if anyone wants to vote for me, I would like to vote for Gordon Brown. Voting by MN proxy

OP posts:

sounds like a bit of a feeble excuse to me that they turned up with polling cards......

Well I turned up without my polling card (didn't get it!) and the women in front of me had hers........it took no longer to find me on the list and tick me off than it did her

well ok perhaps slightly longer for me as I made a tit of myself despite having reminded myself all the way there to give my OLD address where I am still registered to vote as hadn't managed to change it in time initally gave my new address

toccatanfudge · 06/05/2010 23:57

OYBBK - probabl the same as we said about the American elections time before last with all that mess up in Florida or wherever it was........

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/05/2010 23:57

tis a crap excuse toccata - its not like sheffield uni suddenly appeared between elections!

TheFowlAndTheBallotBox · 06/05/2010 23:57

Yes I agree that those who turn up before 10 should be able to vote, but it seems that this would still have meant that not everyone there could have voted.

I think the case has finally been made to figure out a secure method of online voting.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/05/2010 23:59

dodgy claimes going on at chester....

toccatanfudge · 06/05/2010 23:59

yes but I can accept that people who turned up AFTER 10pm couldn't vote......sucks a bit but it makes sense. But if they got there BEFORE 10 then they should have been allowed to

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/05/2010 00:00

exactly right toccata.

MmeLindtChocBrownies · 07/05/2010 00:00

For OYBBK Germany not talking about folk not being able to vote yet.

Cartoose · 07/05/2010 00:01

There goes GB

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/05/2010 00:01

thanks MmeLindt Is the financial roller coaster the big news there tonight?

toccatanfudge · 07/05/2010 00:02

I need a wee.........no more results due for a little while is there???

Then may make more coffee and reheat my chilli cheese bites........

Just had a look at Bild.de - did you read about Oliver Bierhoff's wife losing the baby?

Jux · 07/05/2010 00:03

Fab, people turned up in time but were turned away. It is not hard to work out a way of dealing with people who are playing by the rules that ensures they do get their vote in. Otherwise it's not really a democratic election, is it?

MmeLindtChocBrownies · 07/05/2010 00:04

OYBBK
The election is the top story in the serious press, and the tabloid Bild is headlining with the Football team's manager and his wife losing their baby.

PixieOnaBallotBox · 07/05/2010 00:05

Where are the announcements? They're taking ages tonight!

Kaloki · 07/05/2010 00:06

Slightly squishy? Heineken lager? Am I imagining the conversation on BBC?

toccatanfudge · 07/05/2010 00:06

think they're taking a bit longer tonight - think between 2-3am is usually quite busy they sort of trickle in before then

flowerybeanbag · 07/05/2010 00:07

Where is Tony King then? My election night experience will not be complete without the incomparable Tony King.

Sorry, I think I misinterpreted what jux said.

Peter Hennessy was my supervisor at uni. He's fab.

Stretch · 07/05/2010 00:10

Oh great, on fb my sister is spouting rubbish now about mps causing recessions with their overspending! And my SIL is saying she hasn't even voted! It's 'boring'!

Sister is a student MW, started out at a surestart centre and SIL is a single mum, working 20 hours, on TCs as well. I would think they both have good reason to vote!!

HalfMumHalfBigot · 07/05/2010 00:10

well, I am afraid I am flaking out.
I may drop by after DD wakes me for a feed in the night.
Have fun all.

toccatanfudge · 07/05/2010 00:10

do you think it was raining by any chance
