Just starting this so that we can all post our thoughts throughout the day.

My wish for today is that as many people as possible GO OUT AND VOTE.

I cannot vote as I have been living abroad for over 15 years so if anyone wants to vote for me, I would like to vote for Gordon Brown. Voting by MN proxy

BrownNotCameron - you can watch it live on the BBC website.

toccatanfudge · 06/05/2010 23:47

yes but if you work in a different constituency from where you live you probably want to vote in your home constituency.

It should matter that you can't get there until 8/9 or even 9.45pm - you should be able to vote.

TheFowlAndTheBallotBox · 06/05/2010 23:48

But Jux, they have to close at some point. What if people still wanted to vote after midnight?

Cartoose · 06/05/2010 23:49

Hmm true. Ignore my win-induced muddle.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/05/2010 23:49

hear hear toccata!

Cartoose · 06/05/2010 23:49

Uugghh! NG on the screen. I'm going to have nightmares.

toccatanfudge · 06/05/2010 23:50

if they turn up before 10pm they should be allowed to vote.

Queues half way down a street at 9.30 can't possibly be people that have literally just turned up......

pinkfizzle · 06/05/2010 23:50

This silly voting situation will mean that a re-run will have to take place?

DreamsInBinary · 06/05/2010 23:50

Voters preventing ballot boxes leaving Sheffield!!

Cartoose · 06/05/2010 23:50

wine-induced even

flowerybeanbag · 06/05/2010 23:50

Oh dear, people not allowed to vote because no ballot papers, that's really outrageous.

NoahAndTheWhale · 06/05/2010 23:51

Urgh Nick Griffin

Alibabaandthe40tories · 06/05/2010 23:51

Yuck Nick Griffin. To see him involved in a democratic process is sickening.

Cartoose · 06/05/2010 23:51

Oh, this is terrible

Kaloki · 06/05/2010 23:52

'lo everyone. We're up and contempating alcohol.

Does anyone else think it's ironic that the BNP's colour on the BBC barchart is brown?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/05/2010 23:52

reports of a polling station running out of polling papers and people not being able to vote.

other stations extended their polling hours but sheffield say the one remedy not open tho them was to extend their hours.

this is rubbish.

fowl - in the states if you are in the queue when the polls close you can vote. that is fair.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 06/05/2010 23:53

This was always going to be a dramatic election...but my...

Plane crash..fights..polling station problems...

I may not stay up with my gin and nuts and just go to bed..I expect we will be doing the same thing in a few months....

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 06/05/2010 23:53

Apparently re students: nus mobilised the vote and called ahead to warn relevent constituencies re surge. On Twitter feed of nus president they are furious at inability to vote.

MmeLindtChocBrownies · 06/05/2010 23:54

Did anyone else laugh at the indignant voters being very British. "Really rather angry"

And they had to queue in the rain.

PixieOnaBallotBox · 06/05/2010 23:54

This is absolute rubbish.

DS has just wandered through to ask if anyone's won yet!

Cartoose · 06/05/2010 23:54

What if the people denied a vote are more than the winning margin?

dreamylady · 06/05/2010 23:54

where's mandy gone?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/05/2010 23:54

they were very british!!

ASecretLemonadeDrinkerDAVE · 06/05/2010 23:54

I can see another election, esp. if it's tight with this fiasco

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/05/2010 23:55

wonder what the world will say about our election???
