Just starting this so that we can all post our thoughts throughout the day.

My wish for today is that as many people as possible GO OUT AND VOTE.

I cannot vote as I have been living abroad for over 15 years so if anyone wants to vote for me, I would like to vote for Gordon Brown. Voting by MN proxy

"Do we know the percentage of postal votes? I guess not until the other votes are counted"

Not sure but I suspect a much higher percentage of postal votes than usual

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 06/05/2010 22:18

Didn't labour win last time on 32%?

Bumperliouzzzzzz · 06/05/2010 22:18

Hello tougholdbird btw, I missed your post on the last thread we were on. I had an email from our mutual friend DCMB

PixieOnaBallotBox · 06/05/2010 22:19

Evening! It's going to be hung, isn't it?

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 06/05/2010 22:19

Angry as they shut at 10pm? FFS you had 15 hours to vote!

gaelicsheep · 06/05/2010 22:19

There were nearly twice as many postal vote applications in our area as in 2005.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/05/2010 22:19

bloody hell - voters being turned away because couldnt cope with numbers?????

TheFowlAndTheBallotBox · 06/05/2010 22:19

92 poll said labour victory. I'm panicing now though.

I also love Sunderland. Those 6th formers are brill!

DreamsInBinary · 06/05/2010 22:20

What channel are you watching? Sky has nothing of this!

NoahAndTheWhale · 06/05/2010 22:21

They had 35.3% in 2005 (according to this).

ClaireDeLoon · 06/05/2010 22:21

Someone asked about the 1992 exit poll results - weren't they vastly out and projected a labour victory?

tougholdbird · 06/05/2010 22:21

Hi Bumper Am hoping we get the right result in this area - will be close!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/05/2010 22:21

bbc

NoahAndTheWhale · 06/05/2010 22:21

Labour that is

PortBlacksandVoter · 06/05/2010 22:22

Mandelson there saying they'll stick to it tooth and nail....

I'm shocked at Lib Dem result....

gaelicsheep · 06/05/2010 22:22

What are the percentage vote shares in this exit poll?

PixieOnaBallotBox · 06/05/2010 22:22

Well I told them the wrong thing on the exit polls - they asked, and I told the Green Party, despite there not being a candidate.

redrosette · 06/05/2010 22:22

watching bbc. consoled by the exit polls. if the rotten tories win at least its not a majority, although its nowhere near over yet.

enjoying the mad rush to start counting and all the tv crews. Never known such excitement at an election before :D

duchesse · 06/05/2010 22:22

Zackly what I just shouted at the telly! Just because they left it till last minute and then expected it still to be open like a 24 hour tesco... Now, if they'd been queueing for 15 hours like they had to in Zimbabwe, they might have cause for complaint.

tougholdbird · 06/05/2010 22:22

1992 did predict labour victory but not by masses, maybe 5 or so?

Bumperliouzzzzzz · 06/05/2010 22:23

If it comes down to the wire this much are we going to have to wait till the constituency that had polling suspended due to the death of a candidate? God knows how long that will be. Can the markets cope with such a state of flux?

Poor Lib Dem, what a flash in the pan!

duchesse · 06/05/2010 22:23

Sorry, that was in reply to Fab further down thread.

MmeLindtChocBrownies · 06/05/2010 22:23

Kingmaker

Who was playing bingo?

bratnav · 06/05/2010 22:23

Secretlemondae - no, they just collect numbers so the local parties can keep track of how many of their voters vs others have voted, then they can use them to go and chase their voters to get out.

I have done it many times and we tend to share with all the reps for all the parties, quite friendly really

NoahAndTheWhale · 06/05/2010 22:24

I wonder what percentage of people will vote

2005 - 61%
2001 - 59.4%
1997 - 71.4%
1992 - 77.7%
1987 - 75.3%

Wonder why there was such a drop in 2001.
