RobynLou I understand your concerns. How can I help? I am a floating voter and am happy to vote not conservative. But unhappy about is not the same as passion for. So who are you voting for? Let me know and I'll vote the same.

RosaMolesworthemburg · 06/05/2010 01:01

FWIW I'm voting labour today, because - for all labour's faults - I agree with their fundamental values, to help those least able to help themselves.

Here's a letter from academics at the LSE's Centre for the Analysis of Social Exclusion about Labour's record on child poverty:

Dont make me laugh...NuLiebour have NO values
The true Labour party died years ago with John Smith.

RosaMolesworthemburg · 06/05/2010 01:10

Yes, I opposed the illegal war and the infringements on civil liberties. But to say they have no values is ridiculous when they have done so much to help the poorest.

RosaMolesworthemburg · 06/05/2010 01:11

oh and RIP John Smith: he was a great bloke.

Right OP, so your first post was yesterday, and your link is to a Labour party website, and you follow that up with further Labour propaganda.

Sorry, but it's dull and it's over. Labour lost the election on 27 June 2007.

RosaMolesworthemburg · 06/05/2010 01:26

Oh ffs, now I'm a troll. I've been here since 2002: this is my election namechange, you fool!

Molesworth · 06/05/2010 01:28

See?!

wubblybubbly · 06/05/2010 01:50

That link sent shivers down my spine. Keep up the good work

People forget that in order to have Olympic medals in 2024, children today have to be running in parks now.

That to stay out of goal in 2030 they have to feel secure, at home and at school, now.

These things are worth getting into debt for.

The Conservatives won't pay for that. They expect volunteers to do it.

More equal societies almost always do better.

longfingernailspaintedblue · 06/05/2010 02:23

Worth getting into debt for??

How exactly are we going to pay off that debt - not to mention the massive bill for interest. Already we pay more in interest than we do for schools.

foxytocin · 06/05/2010 02:34

it is bailing out the banks that is breaking our balls. not looking after our children.

oh, and paying the bill for a little war in Iraq

tell me, would a Tory Gov't had let the banks fail?

we already know that Blair could only wage his war with Tory support.

(see article by Johann Hari below about why I commented about paying for looking after the kids)

Oooooh love the name Dad2Cariad... I have 2 gariad bach myself!

I know I'll be accused of looking back too much here, but I will never vote Tory after Thatcher's legacy. I can remember people going from house to house when I was a child, looking for food donations to send to the miners... She would have let them starve. So as long as they go on without offering an apology, I won't even consider them.

(Hate that Brown brown-nosed her too btw.)

CaptainNancy · 06/05/2010 06:44

foxytocin · 06/05/2010 07:43

Dad2Cariad: you are not to be canvassing on the messageboard. I have reported your post.

CwtchyMama · 06/05/2010 07:43

Well i am voting cons & i bloody cant wait to get there & mark my X.

I hope they win with a majority too.

scaryteacher · 06/05/2010 07:48

It was the Tories who introduced Family Credit in the mid 80s,so started the ball rolling, and also who introduced independent taxation of married women, so we were no longer chattels of our husbands.

I will be voting Tory.

abr1de · 06/05/2010 07:55

'That to stay out of goal in 2030 they have to feel secure, at home and at school, now.

These things are worth getting into debt for.'

Getting into debt isn't just like running up a heavy credit card bill for one month. Eventually you (the nation) end up paying more and more interest on debts as other countries decide that you can't have a high credit rating (AAA) because you owe too much. So, each year there's less to pay for services and more to pay to the international financial community. Is that really what you want? You're taking now and leaving your children to pay back. And possibly your grandchildren.

None of the parties have been honest about the severity of our problem but the TOries have come nearest to doing so. So I'm voting for them.

foxytocin · 06/05/2010 08:02

Reposting this response for Abr1de and others who will still come along and fail to address the main reasons for the debt crisis:

it is bailing out the banks that is breaking our balls. not looking after our children.

tell me, would a Tory Gov't had let the banks fail?

we already know that Blair could only wage his war with Tory support.
