If you are stuck in hospital do you lose your vote?

My dad is in hospital but also now the ward has been closed due to noro virus and he's allowed no visitors and can't leave the ward even if wanted to.

Has he lost his vote then? How do other people who have just been admitted cope with this? Is it just hard luck?

You can do an emergency proxy... hang on, I'll find you a link!

If you are suddenly incapacitated or taken ill, you can apply to vote by proxy for medical reasons up until 5pm on polling day.

Link here you would need to get form filled in and approved before 5pm by looks of it. Providing a nurse can pass him form to sign of course?

oo that's brilliant Ewe.
Thanks so much! I expect they will let me wait for him to sign it outside the ward! Hurrah for democracy.

At least GB will get at least one more vote now.
