Surely a coalition is better than a minority, or am I being naive in thinking that a coalition would work better?

You're being naive Seriously, anyone who's been part of a committee knows how tough and slow it can be to get decisions made when there are too many people involved. Coalitions can be quite fickle... the Lib Dems, for example, have promised not to support one particular party but to look at it issue by issue. This sounds OK but, in practice, can mean the government no longer has a mandate to rule and we all have to go to the polling stations again. A government with a small majority can push through policies provided every MP votes 'yes'.

I think the advantage of a coalition is that you can choose the best people from two parties to form a cabinet..more brains to sort the problems out. I can't imagine Cameron opting for this though.

I've had enough of being governed by a party pushing through policies using the whips, with a minority government it would be even harder to justify.

At least a coalition would temper the worst of the tories gleeful slashing of public services or labour's manic authoritarianism.
