It is perfectly acceptable in this country to have organisations like OBV...(Operation Black Vote)...which is funded by the tax payer....no one would dream of saying anything about that...

DP - the only signs I can think of (apart from those in British languages like Welsh and Gaelic) are the street signs in Bethnal Green and Chinatown.

Firstly, I would think that it is more important that local residents understand the signs than outsiders.

Secondly, they are all bilingual anyway, so anyone who can read English can read them.

Thirdly, I would guess that you don't live in Bethnal Green or Chinatown, so you won't be walking around those "streets of England", so it doesn't actually affect you because you will never see them with your own eyes.

I have just read the whooole thread and am gladdened to see that DP is the only racist muppet BNP sympathiser in evidence. I am so bemused by the ire that is generated by bilibgual road signs. What is wrong with people speaking different languages? I have always been fond of learning new languages, a bilingual road sign is a source of education to me! As long as it is still written in english, I would like to know where they aren't?

As for the islamification of the UK - I despise Islamists as much as the next person but most muslims' sphere of influence doesn't go particularly far - my DH can't even islamify our house, let alone the UK (not that he'd try, he tends to see religion as an individual's own private business)

You do need the "Drive on the Left" signs, even in the highlands! Dh is an ambulance first responder (rural GP) and in his little area alone he sees quite a few injuries as people pull out and forget!
