While I appreciate that certain 'British' people feel ignored ATM, I am always drawn to this statement when people rush to join parties like the BNP:

There are MANY people in this country who would really prefer that women knew their place and left work to men.

I would prefer to live in a free society that strives for equality for all (and, for what it's worth) OBV is about promoting equality not about promoting the rights of black people at the expense of white!!

To come back to one of your original points, though, DP (about OBV) - and I think others have picked up on this - personally I think that it's good to target ANY group with a poor record for voting, and to try to encourage them to change that. Not quite sure why it outrages you. Older working class women are another group who apparently are less likely to vote than average (so I read once), so of course, they ought to be targeted too.

So tell us more about this:

Most parties probably have a fairly open policy of repatriating illegal immigrants, especially if they are criminals.

What the ytend not to have is a policy for repatriating no-whites (ie not, by and large, the Swiss or Americans in the financial sector, for example) who are here legitimately and may even have been born here.

If anyone can show me a Labour policy that's similar to that I'll be impressed.

WRT Older working class women

They used to be; my Dad used to help escort older (usually female) voters to the polling booths: it was organised by a political party but not only for their voters IYSWIM; knowing that the same people are involved there's a fair chance it still exists.

Of course the raitonale was that non tory voetrs are less likely to turn out in bad weather (DAd not Labour either) and we were in a Tory stronghold (probably alwyas will be, though have moved away anyhow)

Earlier I offered £50 to help repatriate DP.

Thinking about it, DP, if I bumped it up to £100 and gave it to you, would you consider getting yourself a cheap colour TV, DVD player and a Sudoku book (all made by forriners but, at the price, who's arguing?) and going elsewhere to kill time?

see, I plan to become a midwife, and then I'd really, really, really like to go and work in India or Africa, or somewhere like that where i could make a big difference.

also, do you make sure you only buy british made products? that includes food, clothes, electrical goods etc etc? or are you happy sending your money to other countries?
