Do post your advance questions here.

Please, I am very supportive of your policy on ID cards but would like my question answered before I need to go to bed (it's 23:00 here).

Slur - on asylum seekers the key thing is to make sure their applications are dealt with quickly so that those who should be given our support and protection can get an answer quickly.

octothechildherder · 03/05/2010 20:00

Trident - why invest so much in a nuclear defence system that will work with maintenace for another 20 years. Vanguard and Vengeance are surely enough????

woosam · 03/05/2010 20:00

Thank you for answering my question.

However, times are hard and I don't think the public purse should be effectively paying into savings accounts for children like mine.

Perhaps it would cost more to administer a means test or cap it than you would save.

BTW, my great grandfather was a Red Clydesider. All the best for Thursday!

lilmissmummy · 03/05/2010 20:00

Maybe it should be regional then mumutd as we live in the southwest our outgoings are low and or income is very comfortable. Why should I be entitled to money? When there are people that need it far more than me?

clam · 03/05/2010 20:00

So why is my school's funding for 1:1 tuition just been stopped, then?

LittleMissNorty · 03/05/2010 20:00

Good evening....when you promise not to touch the NHS with your spending cuts....is this only in clinical areas? Or all areas?

Is a pay freeze for NHS workers on the way...and will this include senior NHS management?

I'm also quite interested to know if MPs will stop keep rewarding themselves with annual payrises?

politicsgraduate · 03/05/2010 20:00

Ditto Jeffner's post re tax credits. As a lone parent the thought of a Tory government sends shivers up my spine. Would be surprised to see the Tories doing any better up here in Scotland though...

neenz · 03/05/2010 20:00

Yes more support for BFing mums! It will save the NHS money in the long run.

alysonpeaches · 03/05/2010 20:01

Children and adults with autism do not fit social services criteria in our area for support in terms of respite or support for independent living. I have an adult daughter with autism and a 7 year old boy. People dont believe me when I say that social services do not help me with either.

Why are services for autism so hit and miss?

Beaaware · 03/05/2010 20:01

Dear Mr.Brown,
I really just want an answer to my question about safe blood in the UK, I have had positive reply from Nick Clegg but not the Conservative or Labour Party, my vote will depend on who takes this public health issue seriously. You may wish to know that people are still dying from vCJD and that we still have BSE in our herds. Will the Labour party propsoe screening all blood donors for vCJD annonymously?

LittleRock · 03/05/2010 20:01

Mr Brown, I'd like to know how you can convince me to vote Labour again please.

I am in my 40s, and have always voted Labour up until now.

I have two children with specific learning difficulties, for whom I have had to fight the LEA tooth and nail in order to get some extra support for them in class (I lost the fight, btw).

The state school system does not provide an appropriate/suitable (whatever the current 'buzz word' is) education for my children, despite that being its' remit.

I believe that 'our' involvement in the Iraq war was illegal, and that no-one has been made accountable for their actions.

I think the Expenses Row will have already been covered, but it made me sick to my stomach, along with the rest of us mere mortals.

I am finding the lack of any discernible difference between the two main parties rather disconcerting.

So, as a lefty who once believed fervently in the state school system, and that my government was basically honest and reliable, I'm sure you can see my quandry?

I am being asked to vote to return an unelected Prime Minister / party leader to a government that has let me down, and, FAR MORE IMPORTANTLY, has let down my children.

And that is the part that is unforgiveable.

WWYD?

fruitshootsandheaves · 03/05/2010 20:01

I am actually very impressed tonight. Not only have you answered lots of boring intriguing political questions but also some lighthearted nonsense ones too.
Well done and good luck

(that actually sounded quite patronising but it wasn't meant to)

EricPicklesFatNeck · 03/05/2010 20:01

gordon brown - when my dd was 3 and saw pictures of you she would say 'poor gordon brown, he is trying his best you know' she also wanted to know if peter mandelson was a baddie

mothernature · 03/05/2010 20:01

My DD is the first in our family to go to university, we are more than proud of her we are a 'poor family' in relation to a lot of those on here ie income less than £30,000, we believe she and the rest that want to go should go regardless of the debt she/they will come out with. I want to thank Mr Brown and the labour government for giving her the opportunity.. I would however like to see more companies giving school/ college leavers apprenticeships there doesnt seem to be many around, more advertising would be helpfull informing us/them of the chances to be had.

VirtualPA · 03/05/2010 20:01

As am I - People are living in garages, You can have all the statistics you like but these people are not registered. That is real life. Therefore realistic.

janeite · 03/05/2010 20:02

Hello CaptainNancy. I know we're only supposed to have one question each but I hope that Gordon will come back to my one about CVA scores, as that is the main factor in 'academy-isation' I think and is a grossly unfair measure imho.

jeffner · 03/05/2010 20:02

Oh and as an aside... don't we all sound off sometimes... I think it is great that you are normal! (and not airbrushed like some of your opponents)

megcleary · 03/05/2010 20:02

The benefits culture is insane, 18 year olds have told me I'll get more on the dole why should I work when I point out that the ward I work on needs a cleaner they see it that worries me in as beneth them there is a culture of entitlement that worries me for the future of this country.

GordonBrown · 03/05/2010 20:02

Octothechildherder - on Trident I want to see multilateral reductions and look forward to a world without nuclear weapons, but it needs to be by agreement around the world. It doesn't make sense for us to give up Trident while Iran and North Korea are acquiring nuclear weapons.

decafgirl · 03/05/2010 20:02

definately like the mandelson question....

FrameyMcFrame · 03/05/2010 20:03

lol at Peter Mandelson being a baddie!

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 03/05/2010 20:03

Do you ever get to read your children a goodnight story? If so, what's your favourite?
