Gaffes: I met a black man VS that woman is a bigot

Both were gaffes clearly, but I think Cameron got a much easier ride than Brown? Clearly Brown is up against it with the press. Plus Brown's micro-phone slip was a bit more spectacular?

Well, quite. And he was 40 but had been serving in the navy for 30 years? Nice one Dave

AuntieMaggie · 03/05/2010 11:24

Exactly.

TDiddy · 03/05/2010 12:14

I wonder why he hasnt yet said..." I met a rich man who said that it was unfair to reduce inheritance tax to help the better off but increase VAT which hurts the worse off more"

DC is probably having problems meeting rich men and hedgies.

What is the "I met a black man" gaffe?

TDiddy · 03/05/2010 12:27

The black man in his first debate who wanted him to sort out immigration

Ah, I thought it was a new one.

The press is incredibly hostile to Brown at the moment. He can do no right.

Beachcomber · 03/05/2010 12:29

"I met a black man" is worse because he intended people to hear it and thought it would endear him to us.

"Bigot" unfortunate eavesdrop that should never have been broadcast in the run up to an election. Says more about the journos in question than the PM.

The press have given Cameron an extremely easy ride - but that's because most are backing him

Beachcomber · 03/05/2010 12:38

I think we would have to put 'flounders when questioned on gay rights' gaffe in first place however.

Agree the slanting of the press is a bloody disgrace.

AuntieMaggie · 03/05/2010 12:53

completely a disgrace the way the press is slanted - hve to wonder what their motivation is...

the "black man" and "gay rights gaffe" just proves to me that DC has no idea about diversity/equality issues whatsoever... and if i was so inclined i'd take offence to the fact that i haven't received any literture addressed soley to me from the tories... unlike dp... is that cos i'm female?
